Chapter 76: Ch 76: Fake?

*Step*l

*Step*

As the young man continued to walk, the sound of his footsteps reverberated clearly through the cries and dreadful groans of the dying gods.

Grovelling onto the grounds, the once all-high and mighty gods felt as if their bodies were getting ripped apart from the inside.

Despite feeling the pain that they could’ve never dreamt of in their lives as the gods of a world, their eyes refused to doze off even for a second.

For they wanted to witness the truth with their own true eyes. The truth about how powerful one had to be to make such a giant beast—that made the gods fall to their knees, slowly drifting away towards nothingness with his killing intent alone—bow to him with such a degree of fear and respect.

The man though, kept walking forward while ignoring the uncalled glares of the dying roaches before finally stopping as he reached the centre.

In front of his eyes, he saw a goddess with blonde, disheveled, and mudded hairs crawling onto the ground, groaning and shouting in pain as blood and divine mana seeped out of every pore in her body.

Yet, she chose to struggle more, to endure more, and keep looking at the mysterious yet astoundingly familiar man.

"1700." The man muttered in a barely audible voice, but the goddess seemed to have heard him loud and clear.

The goddess widened her eyes as she saw a reflection of a 9-year-old in that man. Realizing the true identity of this mysterious man in front of her eyes, she lost control and unconsciously flared every bit of her killing intent towards the man.

*Squelch*

The next instance, the vision changed before her eyes, for she now saw the man standing next to her own body—although, headless.

Her head flew into the air, revolving around countlessly as glimpses of her vision kept changing. Just as her head was about to hit the ground, the time seemed to have stopped.

In front of her eyes, she now saw the back of the man, standing next to her withering body while a name plagued her mind, ’Diablo Eviar...’

Repeating it over and over, her mind seemed to have dozed off almost instantly but was abruptly brought back to reality as a soul-piercing sound entered her ears.

"I died 1700 times," he muttered, his voice barely above that of a whisper. "The more I think about it, the more I feel disgusted." with every word, his voice grew more hoarse and rigid.

The goddess was frightened, frightened to see that she had already died at the hands of someone she took as a disgrace to her existence, for she had never once forgotten that day when a mortal had chosen to defy her authority and brought her to knees in front of her countless servants. But at the same time, she was eager to see more.

Suddenly, the man’s body twitched slightly. The goddess’s face was washed into horror as she was instantaneously pulled back into reality. A faint yet clear intention had flowed into her mind out of the blue. She furrowed her eyebrows, sensing a slight burning sensation appear on her face.

The sensation grew stronger within a matter of moments and plagued her entire face like a forest wildfire. She tried to scream in pain but couldn’t move a single muscle. In front of her eyes, purple flames engulfed her visions as she finally heard the mysterious thought.

"d-destroy... Tower..." Her mind crumbled away under the fierce pressure inflicted by the purple flames, and so did her mortal body. Her headless body and bodyless head were burnt to ashes and withered away instantaneously.

"Why... Am I even playing along with this game of ’Tower’!?" His voice thundered throughout the entire space; a giant wave of energy washed over the entirety of the world while time resumed.

Although his aura had already spread well across the world, it couldn’t do anything, nor could it be felt because time acted like a barrier and stopped it from interfering with reality.

But now?

As soon as the time resumed, the energy rushed over as if a dam had broken due to the sheer pressure of accumulated water.

As soon as time was resumed, almost instantly, every god that was slowly withering away at the hands of time was squashed to death by the heavy energy that floated throughout the whole world.

The earth cracked, volcanos erupted constantly, seas and oceans split apart, mountains were crushed in an instant, while people died one by one with the lack of air.

The world had fallen into an utter chaos, and at the centre of it, stood the very man responsible for this. Ye Tian gritted his teeth in anger; his fingers dug into his own palms as a streak of blood dripped from the edge of his clenched fist.

Behind him, Ye Zhao had already fallen to his knees. His expressions that once represented the relief he had felt seeing Ye Tian come out, were now that of true horror. Looking at him from behind with his trembling eyes, he saw the image of someone that he wished never to see again.

Ye Tian’s body continued to wrap in between layers of mana, his hair floating rampantly in the air while his clothes twitched under the sheer pressure of his power.

"Even though your cultivation was reduced to nothing, it seems like not all the things have left your side", Ye Zhao muttered as his body trembled under the ever-increasing pressure of ye tian.

*Cough*

It didn’t take long for even his body, to slowly corrode away under the pressure inflicted by Ye Tian.

On the other hand, Ye Tian’s anger—let alone subside, only seemed to have been provoked further. Logically speaking, the whole situation—from his rebirth all the way to getting stuck in a world like this—in itself seemed to have made no sense.

More or less, it seemed like a badly written plot of a clichè xianxia. Elements of his own memories, a new energy—mana, some S rank beast to mimic his dead love at the exact same time, and the appearance of the tower on his birthday; everything seemed like a story that was being orchestrated exactly for him.

But one thing he didn’t understand was how his emotions kept riling up in between every now and then. Every time he had realized that his emotions didn’t feel like his own, yet again, he’d accept those emotions again.

However, there’s a limit to how many hammer strikes a metal sword can take at the same spot before finally shattering into pieces. And after witnessing that "certain image" countless times, something inside of him cracked.

His calm demeanor finally gave in to his emotions, and something that laid dormant inside of him since his birth had finally made its move.

*A few hours back...*

Inside the castle before the gods had even decided to attack Ye Tian...

After restricting the movements of Jamie and the elder mages, Ye Tian finally decided to raise his mana circles and enter the realms of gods. On the other hand, Ye Zhao had already made up his mind to protect his junior no matter what would’ve happened.

As soon as Ye Zhao had turned his back towards Ye Zhao to glance at the calm sky, Ye Tian’s smile disappeared as if it were never there, to begin with. Rather, a cold gaze had crept onto his face, scanning ye Zhao from head to toe.

’No matter how much I think about it, I still can’t figure out how this ’Tower’ thing did quite a decent job in creating a replica of my senior brother.’ Ye Tian’s eyes were locked onto Ye Zhao—or what seemed like him.

’Although I still can’t figure out how it managed to replicate his memories so perfectly, but one thing is sure, he is not Ye Zhao.’ Ye Tian’s expressions remained calm and calculative. Even after testing him several times, looking for even a single clue that might prove his theory, he couldn’t find anything.

Unaware of Towers’ intentions, he couldn’t determine whether this act could be considered its ’gift’ or ’mockery.’

*Bang!*

It didn’t take long for the gods to realize his intentions and attack the castle, to which Ye Zhao replied very well.

Fate had already started to show its cards, but it was unaware that Ye Tian had realized this puny game.

"There’s only one thing that can prove my ideas correct." As soon as he saw Ye Zhao leave his sight, Ye Tian closed his eyes and concentrated every last bit of mana he had toward the center of his forehead.

Condensing a large amount of mana and shaping it into the form of an inverted eye, he connected his real eyes and his upper core with mana threads, forming a temporary mana circuit.

"Whether I’m an utter fool to think like a madman or my intuition really is true, everything will be clear with this." He raised his hand towards the restrained mages. A thin mana string came out of his hand and wrapped itself around every mage, leaving Jamie untouched.

The mana circuit he had formed on his forehead started to glow as he rested his hands on his knees, taking a meditative stance, blood slowly seeped out of his eyes.

"Type Null Spell: River of time."
