Transmigrated as a Stepmother: Time to Bring the Family to Prosper!-Chapter 327 - 326: Speed and Passion
"Teacher!"
Qi Xian entered the courtyard excitedly holding two sunflowers, ready to share them with his teacher. But when he looked up, neither the teacher nor Liu Ji was there.
Only Second Lang and Si Niang had returned from school and were at home reviewing their lessons.
Qi Xian’s excitement faded, and he glanced around but didn’t find any sign of his teacher. He wondered if perhaps the teacher had gone to the toilet.
Qin Yao followed him inside and placed an abacus in the main hall. She glanced at the kitchen where Ah Wang was preparing dinner while being guided by two Qi Family maids on the family’s taste preferences.
It was fortunate that Ah Wang was good-tempered and complied with everything without complaint, thinking it didn’t matter as he wasn’t going to eat it.
"Where are they?" Qin Yao softly asked Second Lang and Si Niang by the children’s room window.
Second Lang was engrossed in his lessons without looking up. Si Niang pointed in the direction of the village well, "Father took Teacher out for a walk, saying he slept too long in the afternoon and needed to go out to wake himself up. They just left not long ago."
Da Lang and Sanlang went with Jinbao to take the ox to graze at the foot of the mountain.
Qi Xian dejectedly put down the two sunflowers, feeling as though the attention had been taken away from him, his heart feeling empty, even more frustrated with Liu Ji.
The teacher clearly assigned Liu Ji to renovate the old house together, yet Liu Ji only cared about buttering up to please the teacher and didn’t show up at the old house all day.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. Qi Xian turned to Qin Yao and said, "Madam, let me go fetch the teacher."
Qin Yao raised an eyebrow and decided to follow, in case anything unexpected happened.
Upon leaving the house, Qin Yao’s eyelids twitched multiple times, sensing an ominous feeling. Together, they quickly walked to the village well but didn’t see Liu Ji and Gongliang Liao anywhere.
Qi Xian was getting anxious and quickly looked at Qin Yao, knowing this was her area, and she would be the most familiar.
Qin Yao scanned the area and called out to the brothers Da Niu and Little Niu, "Did you see where your third uncle went?"
Da Niu and Little Niu were scared of Qin Yao and cowered without answering. As they were still asking, Qin Yao suddenly perked her ears and swiftly turned her head to the left towards a section of the sloping path.
Qi Xian was puzzled when Liu Ji’s familiar cheerful laughter reached his ears. He hurried to the path and saw the teacher sitting in his wheelchair.
Liu Ji was holding the wheelchair handles, pushing it down the slope at increasing speed, laughing louder.
Seeing this made Qi Xian’s heart tighten, and he urgently shouted, "Teacher!"
Gongliang Liao, experiencing the thrill and speed, looked up at the shout and saw Qi Xian, smiling even more brightly, and yelled, "Move aside, don’t block..."
Before he could finish the word, the person holding the handles caught sight of Qin Yao’s icy glare, shuddered, stumbled, and suddenly screamed, falling forward and instinctively pushing the handles!
In an instant, the wind hitting his face turned fierce, and Gongliang Liao’s smile froze, his face turning from red to white.
Qi Xian gasped watching the wheelchair carrying the teacher careen down the slope at great speed, heading right towards him.
Without any unexpected intervention, he was about to witness an accident.
At the last moment, Shi Tou swiftly scooped up his young master.
By the time he got Qi Xian to safety, it was too late to catch the speeding Gongliang Liao.
Liu Ji shouted "Dear!" and covered his eyes, unable to watch the impending crash.
But before disaster struck, Qin Yao precisely stopped the wheelchair by stepping on its left handle, bringing it to an instant halt.
Just as Gongliang Liao hadn’t yet taken a breath of relief, he felt himself being sent airborne.
At that moment, a series of spectacular scenes flashed through his mind—
Being sent to the scholars as a disciple due to his exceptional intelligence, debating his peers at a young age, gaining fame, becoming the Crown Prince’s Tutor before the previous dynasty fell, and following the current emperor to conquer lands in his youth...
"Teacher? Teacher!"
The increasingly loud call pulled Gongliang Liao’s wandering thoughts back, and he saw a hand waving in front of him.
Qin Yao asked anxiously, "Teacher, are you alright?"
Gongliang Liao still seemed confused, remembering he had already been sent flying, but looking down, he found himself securely seated in the wooden wheelchair.
"Teacher, are you alright?" Liu Ji limped down the slope, urgently feeling Gongliang Liao all over for injuries, relaxing only after finding none, and promptly knelt to apologize, "I frightened the teacher, please punish me!"
Gongliang Liao, with a couple of deep breaths, realized that he had been saved by Qin Yao and gave her a grateful look.
Then he looked sternly at Liu Ji, raised his hand, and smacked Liu Ji’s head, "Copy the book a hundred times as punishment!"
Liu Ji clutched his head, face turning gloomy, but accepted it was his fault for almost sending the teacher to an early grave. He acknowledged with a resigned "sigh." Thankfully the old man was willing to punish him rather than turning away coldly.
Qi Xian signaled Shi Tou to push the wheelchair and sneered at Liu Ji before pushing the teacher away.
After a dozen steps without hearing any following footsteps, both Qi Xian and Gongliang Liao glanced back.
There, they saw Qin Yao dragging a terrified Liu Ji behind a villager’s house.
Shortly after, the couple emerged again, Qin Yao looking gloomy, Liu Ji stumbling, tearful, with eyes full of pain and fear, struggling to hold back tears.
Such a scene left Gongliang Liao and the others dumbstruck.
Qi Xian suddenly felt less angry with Liu Ji, even feeling a twinge of sympathy for him.
Gongliang Liao frowned enough to catch a fly, wanting to confront Qin Yao about what she did to his disciple.
But meeting her chilly gaze, he instinctively clamped his mouth shut, making a hard gulping sound.
The three, including Shi Tou, watched her leave with complicated expressions, across the bridge, up the slope, and into the courtyard before they finally exhaled, releasing a breath they didn’t realize they were holding.
Turning again to tears-filled Liu Ji, Gongliang Liao hesitated to speak, "You, you, sigh~"
He wanted to encourage his disciple to stand up more firmly but felt helpless at the same time.
"Forget it, fifty copies instead, let’s go."
As the aroma of meals drifted from every household, it was mealtime. Having experienced a rush of speed and excitement, Gongliang Liao decided to eat an extra half bowl of rice to calm his nerves tonight!
Liu Ji shed tears of gratitude, "Wah, Teacher still cares for me the most."
Gongliang Liao repressed his disdain, signaling Qi Xian to hand over a handkerchief, "Wipe up, a man shouldn’t act so womanishly!"
Liu Ji quickly dried his face, returned the handkerchief to Qi Xian, "Thank you, Senior Brother."
Qi Xian bit out, "You’re! Wel! Come!"
Then quickly turned and threw the handkerchief away.
