Xia XiaoXi had to remain in JingDu for the time being—after all, the recent incidents had caused quite a stir, and for her safety, Xia Chen wasn’t planning to let her leave the city. At the same time, he had begun accepting Liang Feng’s guidance and was starting to learn the ropes of running a company.

As for the Gu family, Gu WeiJun and Gu WeiYi were still dealing with matters concerning Shi Zhong. Alongside that, they were also actively searching for Dr. Huang’s wife.

What they wished for most was right in front of them now—they wanted to handle this matter personally.

HuMing and Ye QiuXue had returned to their hometown together. They each had their own business to take care of.

HuMing planned to visit the address his second grandpa had left him, to find out what exactly had been left behind.

Meanwhile, Ye QiuXue was taking advantage of the holiday break to go home and visit her grandmother.

The two traveled together, their journey smooth and uneventful, eventually bringing them back to where everything began.

“HuMing, it’s been a long time since you came back here. Feeling nostalgic?”

“Of course I am. This place is like the beginner’s village—the start of it all. Every beginner’s village has a hidden area, right? One that holds unexpected enemies.”

HuMing chuckled softly, eyes scanning the familiar scenery before him. It felt as if no time had passed. Nothing around them had changed, and that, more than anything, brought comfort.

He turned to look at Ye QiuXue and asked, “So, when are you taking me to your hometown? You promised, remember?”

“I changed my mind. What now?”

“Then I’ll just have to come find you myself!”

“Tsk, tsk, HuMing, look at you now. You’re nothing like the HuMing I used to know. This won’t do. Seeing how you’ve been getting cheekier lately, I think I need to start keeping my distance!”

Ye QiuXue grinned as she gave him a playful nod. Then she pulled out her phone, revealing a chat with Xia XiaoXi.

HuMing’s gaze flicked over the screen. Even though Ye QiuXue quickly tucked the phone away, he’d already caught the entire conversation.

He stared at her in disbelief, stunned.

The messages were about how she and Xia XiaoXi were interpreting the things he said. They’d concluded HuMing was being too greedy and had decided to give him the cold shoulder.

“HuMing,” Ye QiuXue said with a smirk, “from now on, you better start working hard. Our standards are pretty high, you know. What, did you think cabbage is easy to steal?”

She hummed a cheerful tune as she walked toward the exit. It was clear she was in a great mood.

HuMing sighed helplessly. He hadn’t expected the two to join forces. He’d originally thought it would take ages for them to acknowledge each other, but now… they already had.

Was this a misfortune hidden in good luck? No… this was the only stroke of good fortune he had.

With his hands in his pockets, HuMing silently followed Ye QiuXue.

Upon HuMing’s return, Han LiTian had already sent someone to bring him home. Madam Han had prepared dinner early, waiting for HuMing’s arrival.

Han YunXi had changed into fresh clothes and kept glancing toward the door.

She knew HuMing would be returning with Ye QiuXue today, which likely meant they’d be eating together.

“I wonder how that kid’s been doing in JingDu. Hopefully he hasn’t lost weight,” Madam Han muttered under her breath.

Han LiTian, reading the newspaper, remained composed and quiet.

They waited another ten minutes. Soon, the sound of a car pulling up came from outside.

Han YunXi straightened up, looking toward the entrance. Moments later, the front doors swung open.

HuMing stepped inside, suitcase in hand. When he saw the people waiting for him, a gentle smile spread across his face.

“I’m home.”

Just four simple words, yet they stirred something deeply emotional in the three people before him.

Madam Han immediately got up and walked over to him, carefully taking in his appearance. Tears welled in her eyes; she seemed overwhelmed to see him again.

So much time had passed. How could Madam Han not be aware of the things she’d done in the past? All she wanted now was to make it up to HuMing—to give him at least a taste of the warmth he’d as a child.

Han LiTian raised a brow and set his newspaper aside. He cleared his throat, speaking calmly.

“Good that you’re back. Leave the suitcase. Have someone take it to your room—we’ll eat first.”

HuMing nodded to them, his eyes finally settling on Han YunXi.

She gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, then smiled.

“HuMing, long time no see.”

That meal at the Han residence was especially heartwarming. Here, just like at the Gu house, HuMing could feel a sense of belonging.

After everything that had happened with Han ShuYi, people had started to change. And HuMing was genuinely happy to see it.

“I heard there was some absurd hostage situation at a banquet in JingDu. You were there?”

“I was. The Bai family tried to settle some personal grudge. Honestly, the Bai guy had completely lost it.”

Though HuMing spoke lightly, the others couldn’t help but tense. It was hard to imagine how he’d stayed calm in a moment like that.

Even Han LiTian had to admire the strength of HuMing’s heart. No wonder Han ShuYi lost to him.

HuMing had apparently come back with something to do. Han LiTian decided not to interfere. If HuMing needed their help, they would give it.

“By the way, the Xia family…”

Han LiTian frowned at the mention. The sudden incident in the Xia family had caught him off guard. Though not extremely close, he had a good relationship with them—and with such a crisis unfolding, he couldn’t just stand by.

“Uncle Xia’s situation is… painful to see. But for now, Xia Chen is taking over the family. I believe in him.”

“You sound confident,” Han LiTian said, still frowning, clearly deep in thought.

“Dad, there’s no need to worry about the Xia family. Xia Chen made the choice himself to take it on. I’ve also arranged for someone to support him behind the scenes, so everything will be fine. But how about you guys? Have things been going well?” frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

HuMing looked around the table, a soft smile on his face.

“Everything is just fine,” Han LiTian said as he placed a shrimp in HuMing’s bowl. “We just wish you’d come back more often. This place is your home, after all.”

Some words just had to be said out loud.

Without mutual understanding, the care shared among family would lose all meaning.

Watching the scene unfold, Han YunXi couldn’t help but smile.

This—this was the world she dreamed of. And she hoped she'd get to see it every day from now on.

(SHMOLL: I really hope YunXi doesn’t come to the harem. That would be just very weird from my perspective.)
