Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 156: The Divine Healer [ 3 ]
The heavy silence from before resumed.
Honestly, it was kind of overwhelming.
So Clementine and I huddled close together and secretly interlocked our fingers, watching everything from the side.
Adam’s explanation was basically the same as what I had heard in the game.
The only thing he hadn’t mentioned here, that he did in the game, was just how much he loved Aliyah and how regretful he was.
"I don’t forgive you."
She turned her back to him coldly, then narrowed her eyes at me.
"He accepts both your proposals. Now tell me the locations of those two flowers you mentioned."
I nodded.
"Got a map?"
Within a second, the latest map of the whole world appeared out of thin air.
The Elodrenia continent, Skyward continent, and lastly, the Western continent.
She also handed me a pre-inked quill.
Since I knew the locations of all ten of them, I didn’t hesitate to mark down two on the Western continent.
Though, since I wanted to show goodwill, and that I had more, I also marked a third location that was in the northernmost part of the Western continent.
"Please don’t consider this blackmail, since that’s not my intention. I hope you can trust me that much after getting to know me and Clementine during the month of training."
"I know."
Aliyah looked over the map, and after folding it and storing it inside her dimensional ring, she looked away.
"I’ll be back in a few hours."
With that, Aliyah’s figure blurred as I saw nothing but a flash of light fly up to the clouds, then vanish toward the east.
I really hoped what I did just now changed both of their futures.
I really did...
"Is your name Amon...?"
At Adam’s question, I turned to him.
He had stood up, and with a blank look, he brushed the dust off his clothes.
"Amon Everness. She’s Clementine Noir."
After introducing us both, Adam just waved at us and gestured for us to go inside his hut.
We did just that, and honestly... Instead of a home, the inside of this wooden hut looked more like a laboratory.
He had a few pillows on an empty alchemical table, and he didn’t even have a dining table.
Did he eat outside...?
Though it looked like I got my answer right away as he tossed his pillows inside his dimensional ring, then took out some tableware, plopping it down where he slept.
"Tea?"
"I’ll pass."
"No thank you."
Damn.
Even Clementine said no.
That’s a first.
Adam stared at the empty teacups for a moment, then let out a sigh.
"I’ll ask this now then. Amon, how do you know about the conversation I had between the Great Sage and myself?"
"As I already told Aliyah, I’m not sharing anything I know."
"I caught that part. I’m asking if the conversation you’ve heard between us could’ve possibly been heard by other people?"
Oh.
Well... The players, perhaps?
Though I don’t think anyone has gotten this far into the game.
Aside from that, the developers?
Can’t forget the creator himself, Jonathan J. Sinclair.
So no.
"I’m the only one."
"I see..."
Adam fiddled with one of the teacups before glancing back at me.
"Are you a seer of some sort?"
I shrugged.
"Maybe I am."
"You remind me of the twins."
Twins?
Were there twins in the Twelve Calamities?
I wish they hadn’t been so secretive, or else I’d know a little more about them.
But I do remember encountering two golden-haired women.
One who asked me to vow to kill the demons, and the other who appeared shortly after I died.
Maybe that’s them?
Adam slammed the teacup down.
He was clearly angry.
But he was also someone who really hated talking about his feelings.
And since I didn’t come here to be a therapist, I simply nudged Clementine forward and she stepped up.
"Hello again..."
Adam immediately pointed at his shelf.
"Before we begin, I need you to have some basic medical knowledge. So, Clementine Noir, memorize the contents of all those books, and once you’re done, tell me."
Oh.
She’s getting the medical student special treatment.
"A-All those books?"
"Every single one. You asked for this, so don’t be dead weight and start learning."
A determined look appeared on Clementine’s face. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
And after exchanging a glance with me, she ran up to the bookshelf and began reading the books one by one.
As for me, I approached Adam and sat down beside him.
For the next hour or so, Clementine read books, Adam contemplated life, and I tried to picture my next steps aside from visiting the Sun Vampires.
I felt like I needed to pay a visit to the Eldritch monster.
After all, I had a feeling it knew what it was talking about, and I could learn more from it.
But speaking of...
"Do you know about blood refining?"
Adam lifted his head slightly.
"I do. Why?"
"How do I do it?"
"Uhh... You don’t?"
He stared at me as though I were an idiot.
I was sure most of the malice was coming from me telling Aliyah about his illness.
But even so...
"Why not?"
"Because it’s stupid and dangerous."
I narrowed my eyes at him.
After a brief pause, he ruffled his hair in frustration.
"Pour several poisons into a big cauldron, then submerge yourself in it until your body soaks up the poison."
Raising a single finger, he added:
"The special poison burns your blood, taints it, and does some other horrible things. Blood refining may sound fun and innocent, but it’s just torture for the most minimal of gains. In your case, you don’t gain anything."
I tilted my head slightly.
Although I trusted the Divine Healer, I also trusted the Eldritch monster when it came to advice about my powers.
"Why not?"
"Because you’re not a vampire. Why would you even need something like this?"
Adam scoffed.
"It just enhances your blood flow. That’s all it does."
Oh.
In that case, I definitely need it.
My Wrath Transformation enhanced the power of my Wrath Gifts based on my heart rate.
So enhancing my blood flow basically buffs everything else too.
"I’ll do it."
Adam’s brows scrunched up.
"Did you think I was offering?"
"Do you have anything better to do aside from sitting there and waiting for Aliyah to come back and scold you even more?" I retorted.
Before he could reply, I said:
"Ever since you found out about your illness, you began learning alchemy, thus becoming a master alchemist on the side. You have a whole lab here, so make something for me."
He just stared at me for a moment, then stood up.
"I’ll be done in thirty minutes. After that, leave me alone. I need to gather my thoughts without your incessant chattering in my ear every minute."
A faint smile appeared on my face.
"Works for me."
