My stats didn’t go up that much, nor did my masteries. Still, I was a little surprised to see my Demon King of Wrath’s Blood hit Expert rank, especially since I felt no difference yet.
Aside from that, Telekinesis at 3 stars was definitely more potent. Learning stuff was also a lot easier.
It was just that... I was learning the basics, so the mastery didn’t increase much.
Even so, from Atomic Telekinesis, I’ve mastered 2 stages, and I’m very close to mastering the third.
The only thing left for me is to figure out how to turn my permanent Telekinetic Field into an actual extension of my body, thus creating a true field that could utilize Atomic Energy Suppression, perhaps even passively.
That would increase my strength by leaps and bounds.
And thankfully, the final Atomic Telekinesis stage was the easiest of them all. Atomic Anchoring. It was literally just freezing the atoms of an object or myself, making them immovable by any other type of Gift that would utilize such precise control.
In a way, I figured that this was thrown in there by William, the person who wrote the manual, to teach me how to fight him later on.
Maybe?
Either way, I was done checking out all the minor changes, and instead, I quickly tossed on a few pairs of fancy clothes, then changed my appearance. My eyes became crimson, and my hair was now pure white.
As for the moustache and beard... that sadly had to go.
Once I was finished with the dress-up, I glanced over at Clementine, who had also changed her appearance. To my surprise, she had tied her hair and also somehow managed to get some bangs.
Though, when I spotted Melina standing behind her with scissors and a reluctant expression, I knew that Clementine had forced her to be her stylist.
Anyhow... we were finally ready.
"Kevin, do you want some of my blood?"
A disgusted look appeared on his face.
"No?"
I shook my head.
"No offense, but how are you going to get a woman when you look like a walking tumor?"
He froze at my words.
Before he could reply, I added,
"Sure, personality is above all, but come on, man... one healing potion is enough to deal with half of your scars. You’re not strong enough to claim you’re getting battle scars from mere Grade 20 demons, you know?"
With that, I took out a single healing potion from my dimensional ring and tossed it over to him.
"Drink that, and at the very least, your face is going to look handsome enough for a certain delinquent to pay attention to you."
He flinched as the tips of his ears became slightly red. He stared at me as if I had discovered his deepest and darkest secret, but I simply shrugged, since it was just that obvious.
I wouldn’t be surprised if even Melina had found out about it.
Anyhow, while he held my potion in his hands, I moved on over to Isabelle, who hadn’t done much physical training during the week. Instead, she was purely focused on Gift control and Guardian contracts.
"I don’t think I’ve seen you eat even once during the whole week. Are you alright?"
Isabelle turned toward me, then shook her head.
"I’m fine. I can eat my own ice. By using this new form of imagination Morr taught me, I can imagine nutrients in my ice, and it keeps me fed."
Huh.
That’s a weird usage.
I’ve never really thought of using it in daily life like that.
Still, she seemed a little downcast.
I could guess why, though.
"You know, you can just stand outside while we go in. I’m sure no one’s going to mind."
"..."
She let out a sigh.
"I’m the imperial princess. I must show my face, and I also need to give a speech in my father’s... the emperor’s place."
"Mmm... I guess it’s unavoidable then. Well, you don’t have to worry much. We’ll all be there."
With that, I was prepared to walk away.
But just then, Isabelle’s voice rang out.
"I’m sorry."
I turned around slightly.
"What for?"
She paused for a moment.
"I... back when we were in the Mudflats, and Clementine brought you back, I felt threatened. No, I was afraid. Afraid of both you and Clementine. Despite what my mind was trying to do, my body refused to move and scoop you up."
She lowered her head slightly.
"If I was a little braver, I would’ve taken you then and there. So I’m sorry for being a coward."
Wow...
For one, I never expected her to apologize for anything.
And as for the second bit... she was apologizing for a happy coincidence.
Had she taken me back then, I would’ve never been able to bond with Clementine, and the relationship we have now would’ve never blossomed.
If anything, her being afraid was a blessing in disguise, and for that, I would never blame her.
"Don’t mention it. I don’t blame you or the others. I did kind of hold resentment toward you back then, but trust me, that resentment has long since passed."
She stared at me, then exhaled a relieved breath.
"In that case, would you mind if we started over?"
"Isabelle, I—"
"Not like that," Isabelle cut me off.
"You showed me how to get stronger, and I know you have plenty more secrets you’re hiding. So please, whenever you have time, could you teach me?"
