Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 220: The Gala [ 7 ]
"You’re not going out to help your friends?" William asked.
I shook my head and slowly walked over to the bed where Merilyn sat.
She narrowed her eyes at me, expecting me to pull something.
But instead, I glanced at her neck and used Atomic Destabilization. Before she could even realize what had happened, her head fell off cleanly, landing on the ground and overlooking the rest of her body.
She opened and closed her mouth in shock, yet no words came out. She wasn’t dead, nor was she under any threat of dying, since I hadn’t crushed her demonic core. Though that’s not to say demons are immune to suffocation torture.
As her body flopped onto the ground beside her head, I sat down on the bed, taking her place.
Then I crossed my legs and glanced over at William.
"Why don’t you join the others?"
William smiled.
"I believe Alexius and a few of my subordinates are enough to deal with your friends. Oh. And nice one. You’re pretty proficient at Atomic Telekinesis now. Have you moved onto the next step yet?"
I didn’t answer him and just stared at him.
Honestly? Alexius might be too much for Clementine to handle.
But that’s only in a direct fight where both of them tried to kill each other.
As for when she’s on the defense? She was by far the most capable person in that Gala at the moment, and she could not only protect the emperor, but she could also protect Kevin and the others.
"Is there a world where I could do something for you to prevent the descent of demons?"
He raised a brow.
"You doing something for me? Honestly? I might consider holding the descent off for a decade if you come with me and become a demon king."
Yeah...
That won’t happen.
The only perk I’d get out of this is saving the humans’ ass.
In turn, I’d become a killing machine on the same level as Amon in the game.
So in the end, it looks like this is it then.
"Don’t try to fight me. Even with that Guardian of yours, I’ll be able to dissect you before you can even move a muscle," William warned.
Then he snapped his finger, putting Merilyn back together.
"Cough! Y-You bastard! I thought we had a better relationship than this!"
She continued to scream at me, and in the meantime...
"Can I attend that meeting between all the catalysts and retainers?"
William cocked his head back.
"After what you’ve done here? Why would I even take you anywhere near them?"
I glanced around, then raised a brow.
"What exactly did I do? I haven’t left this room ever since you started this whole mess. I’m as innocent as it gets."
"Haa?"
He clearly couldn’t tell whether or not I was joking.
But I wasn’t.
I was dead serious.
Since the actual meeting had yet to happen, I would much rather play my cards there, not here.
After all, the least I can do is figure out who the other catalysts are. That’s worth more than intervening right now for no reason and playing into William’s hands.
"Ugh... You’re stupid, but you’re not wrong. As your retainer, you’ve not given me any reason to disband our contract. At least, not yet."
"But how long will you be able to hold on? Do you believe your friends can hold out as Alexius and the demons kill and massacre them?"
I shrugged.
"I guess we’ll just have to see, won’t we?"
At my words, the instructor who could also use Telekinesis scoffed. It seemed like he had gotten tired of my antics, so after giving William a nod, he tried approaching the door and perhaps helping out the others.
But with the Telekinetic Barrier being in place, I made sure that he couldn’t leave. Once he realized that, he turned toward me, and I simply smiled.
Finally, every single person in the room got my message across, including William, who thought I had been bluffing.
So he decided to humor me.
"Fine. None of us leave."
William sat down and leaned back in his chair.
Clearly, he decided to just be silent and make it uncomfortable for me.
Though...
"How long have these projects been going on?" I asked.
"Very long, kiddo. Long enough to figure out the formula, and obviously, the countermeasures," he replied nonchalantly.
Then he pointed his finger at me, and I wasn’t sure if I imagined it or not, but a small beam of energy left his fingertip and entered my body. I tried to find it, but there was nothing.
"If we’re doing questions, then let me ask you this. How’s it feel being both human, demon, and a dragon? Do you feel overwhelming power?"
"Mmm... It’s alright," I replied plainly, still a little confused by what just happened a moment ago.
"I wish it was a little better."
"Heh. Fair enough."
Just then, the atmosphere around him shifted considerably as his earlier playfulness all but vanished.
"Your encounter with Kai... He told me your run-in was very fruitful on both ends. For one, he had ascended to a perfect Fallen Demonic Angel. I’m sure he’s the most powerful being in his race now, thanks to you."
"But on another note, he also told me something interesting."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"He said that you’re not actually Amon. Rather, you’re an imposter who has replaced him a little less than a year ago."
He fell silent for a moment, trying to gauge my reaction. However, I didn’t give him anything to latch onto, since I had already played out this situation inside my head, knowing full well Kai would snitch on me.
"Honestly? I believe it. You’re far more different than the child I had met and contracted with all those years ago. Even the man I met nearly half a year ago was completely different from Amon. But... You wanna know what actually seals the deal for me?"
William let out a chuckle and then rose from his seat again. The air around him changed once again as he slowly approached me.
Then, as he towered over me, he said something that I was definitely not expecting.
"The Demonic Oracle mentioned that a great calamity would befall this world. Both demons and humans would go extinct, and all because of a being who had descended almost a year ago."
His smile widened.
"I have reason to believe you’re that being."
