Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling-Chapter 122: Devising a Plan
"Big Brother, I’m heading home. Don’t forget about tomorrow."
Goldie Thorne prepared to leave, reminding Felix Thorne not to forget about the next day’s business. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Adrian Hawthorne’s heart skipped. ’Just as I suspected,’ he thought. ’The Thorne family is going to cause a scene tomorrow.’
"Are you going to teach the Chapman family a lesson tomorrow?" Adrian Hawthorne asked.
Felix Thorne’s gaze turned cold. He gave a slight nod. He didn’t want to discuss such things with a child, as it would be completely pointless.
"Are you planning to start a fight just to blow off steam, Uncle Felix?" Adrian Hawthorne asked bluntly.
The Thornes were the type to let their fists do the talking at the slightest disagreement, never wasting time on idle chatter. When it came to a brawl, the Thorne family had never lost.
But in Phoebe Thorne’s case, fighting was the absolute worst possible strategy. That was why Adrian Hawthorne had come to stop them. He was rather fond of Phoebe Thorne, and besides, she was Tang Xiaonan’s aunt. He felt he should help if he could.
"Of course we’re gonna fight! We’ll beat the living daylights out of those sons of bitches!" Jim Thorne swore.
Tang Xiaonan shot him a sideways glance, and Jim Thorne guiltily looked away. He always felt the urge to curse when he got angry, and once he started, he couldn’t stop. ’Sigh,’ he thought, ’from now on, I’ll count to three before I swear. I don’t want to make my little cousin unhappy.’
Howard Thorne and the others were filled with righteous indignation, all thinking the same thing as Jim. The Chapman family was practically shitting on their heads. ’If we don’t fight back, can we still call ourselves men?’
"Beating them up would certainly feel good, but what about Aunt Phoebe’s life after that? Can you watch over her every moment of every day?" Adrian Hawthorne asked.
The Thorne family was stunned. Of course they couldn’t watch over her every day. They lived so far away that even just visiting was difficult.
Adrian Hawthorne continued, "The Chapmans are insidious and two-faced. They’re great actors. If you beat them, they’ll surely hold a grudge. After you leave, they’ll just make life twice as hard for Aunt Phoebe. And you know how proud she is; she’ll suffer in silence and never tell you a thing. You’ll get to blow off steam, but she’ll be the one who pays the price."
Tang Xiaonan cheered inwardly. ’As expected of a future big shot,’ she thought. ’Everything he says is so logical and well-reasoned. That’s exactly what I was thinking, but I could never articulate it so clearly.’
Felix Thorne’s expression grew grave. He wasn’t stupid; once Adrian Hawthorne explained it, he understood. They certainly couldn’t act on emotion alone. Phoebe was in Wraven with no family around. If she suffered, no one would ever know.
"Then what do you think we should do?"
Felix Thorne no longer dared to treat Adrian Hawthorne like a child. The boy was thoughtful, meticulous, and always considered the long-term consequences. He had clearly come over specifically to warn them, which meant he must have already thought of a solution.
"The best solution is for Aunt Phoebe to get a divorce and leave the Chapman family with her daughter."
Felix Thorne shook his head adamantly. Divorce was absolutely out of the question. ’She already has two children, with another on the way. How could she possibly get a divorce?’
Adrian Hawthorne wasn’t surprised. He offered his second solution. "Find the Chapman family elders and reason with them. You can use a show of force as a deterrent, if appropriate."
Felix Thorne’s brow furrowed. He wasn’t afraid of a fight, but he was terrible at arguing. No one in the Thorne family was. ’What are we supposed to do?’
"Big Brother, why don’t we have him come along with us tomorrow?" Goldie Thorne suggested, pointing at Adrian Hawthorne.
Felix Thorne’s expression relaxed. That was a good idea. He felt that Adrian Hawthorne was remarkably eloquent and would surely be able to persuade that bunch from the Chapman family.
But Adrian Hawthorne shook his head. "I can’t go. First, I’m too young. Second, I’m not a Thorne, so I have no standing. It would be best to find a respected and eloquent elder from the Thorne family to go."
The Thorne family was dumbfounded again. Where were they supposed to find a respected and eloquent elder?
They couldn’t think of anyone off the top of their heads.
Adrian Hawthorne felt a pang of exasperation. ’I spelled it out so clearly for them, and they still don’t get it,’ he thought. ’Their intelligence is really...’
