Transmigrated Into The Body Of The Cursed Prince Wife-Chapter 314: A strange world
Chapter 314: A strange world
’The cruelest trick of time is to steal you from me, but love will always find a way to rewrite the stars, because distance means nothing when love exists beyond time itself.’
-
At first, everything was eerily silent and still. It was like he lived within nothing, and his body wasn’t his to control. He was floating and sinking into space with no sense of destination. Then suddenly, there was a loud, weird sound that resounded in his brain and made him grimace in displeasure.
His head was hurting like there was a hammer drilling a hole into his skull. All he knew was that he wanted that annoying sound to stop. Wherever it was coming from or whatever was making such noise that could wake a dying man, he wanted it to stop. Thus, he forced his eyes open but quickly closed them back upon seeing what seemed like heaven and clouds.
Perhaps he was still not awake and was dreaming in a dream. He told himself and tried to return to that delicious sleep that was coaxing him back to its warmth. But that annoying man’s enemy sound rang in his ear once again, only this time, the sound came with a voice he couldn’t believe was human for the way it sounded.
Even though he would like to sleep this dream off and wake up to tell whoever had sent him away that he’d made a mistake in sending him through time and had instead made him dream of clouds, Lucian couldn’t—not with that noise and certainly not with that dry voice that would wake a man from his grave.
He opened his eyes again, but this time, he didn’t close them quickly and let them adjust to the cloud-like thing above his head. He blinked the clouds into focus. At first, his brain and memories were blank, and for a moment, he forgot about who he was or what had brought him here. He didn’t recall even his name. It was like waking up from that sleep had wiped off something from his head. The clouds moved above him, and when he didn’t look away, they switched to moving fishes underwater all of a sudden.
Lucian’s eyes widened as he blinked to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. There was indeed water above him with moving water creatures! He was so fascinated by what was above him that he had forgotten to look around him until that noise came again.
He tore his eyes away from the water and looked towards the noise, and his breath hitched in his lungs as he jerked up from his sleeping position, where he belatedly realized he was on a massive bed with thick blankets and one of the softest pillows he’d ever laid his head on.
What made him jerk off the bed so quickly he almost fell off wasn’t the realization that the clouds and water above him were the ceiling of what seemed to be a king’s chamber, but rather where the noise and voice were coming from.
On what seemed to be a nightstand, a tiny box-like thing lay, and it kept flashing lights while it made that annoying sound he belatedly realized was somewhat like a song. And then came that voice he’d heard in his sleep.
"Incoming call from Leo. Would you like to answer?" said the voice.
Lucian stared at the witchcraft on the nightstand because that was the only explanation for that thing where someone spoke from within it. Slowly, his brain started to clear as he stared at the thing that kept making noise. He was here for a reason. Rylan had helped him with his powers to another time and space...
Had he also sent him with a magic item? Lucian thought as he approached the thing slowly. When it stopped making noise, he cautiously reached out a hand and picked it up from the nightstand. However, the moment he touched it, it began to make that noise again. As he wasn’t expecting it to vibrate in his hand, he got startled and instinctively hurled it away from him, and it slammed against the wall with a crash.
What sort of nonsense was that? It felt so uncomfortable in his hand when it vibrated, and he wiped his hand against his clothes, freezing when he realized he wasn’t wearing a shirt. Looking down, he saw he was wearing a weird-looking trouser that clung to his long legs in an uncomfortable way.
Now that he knew he wasn’t in his time—though he still couldn’t seem to completely remember why exactly he was sent here—he decided not to panic with the strange things around him and on him. He closed his eyes and opened them again, wishing his pounding headache would subside and let him think carefully.
"...Once you are there, things will come back to you slowly. Don’t try to force them," Rylan had told him. Though he still couldn’t figure out how he knew Rylan and why he had sent him here. He was here for a reason, and he needed to find that reason. How strange that just before he opened his eyes, things were as clear as the day in his memories, but now they became foggy.
Lucian looked around him, his eyes taking in the wonder of the chamber. Not even an Emperor had a room like this where he came from. If paradise had a room, it would be this. Apart from the massive bed and the strange-looking magic-made ceiling that kept changing, there were torches around the walls in small enclosed things. He couldn’t help but wonder how they had been lit.
As if in a trance state, he began to walk toward the torches to see how the torch had fit into it and had been lit. Though there were many things he wanted to investigate—like the noise coming from outside and why his memories were taking time to come back to him clearly—he was more fascinated by the lights.
One thing was for certain: he was as tall as he used to be because when he stretched his arm, it reached the lights. However, before his fingers could touch it and figure out how to check the flames in it, the door to his chamber was knocked on and ripped open, startling him yet again.
He frowned when he saw the woman who had opened the door without waiting for him to give her permission to enter. She was a plump lady who wasn’t young nor old, and she wore a black and white dress that stopped just below her knees. From her knees down, she wore white stockings and a... What in the name of hell was that on her feet?
Lucian stared hard at her feet, trying to figure out how she had made a rabbit into shoes. Did they use animals to make footwear here?
"Mr. Penn, I am sorry to barge in. I thought you were still sleeping. You have an urgent call from Sir Leo, and he said to wake you up even if you were sleeping, as you weren’t picking up his calls." freewēbnoveℓ.com
The plump woman was speaking quickly as she walked forward and held out another strange-looking thing to him, but he could barely understand what she had just spoken or if she was talking to him. The manner in which she spoke was completely different from what he was used to hearing. And who was Mr. Penn? She couldn’t be referring to him, could she?
It seemed she was, as she held the thing to his face again.
"I picked the call already. Sir Leo is on the line," she said quickly when he stared hard at the thing she was holding out to him. Blinking, he reached out his hand and carefully took it from her—not because she was telling him to take it, but because he was curious about what it was. It was black and had lights on it, where he traced his finger over it.
"What is this?" he asked before he could stop himself. However, he was startled by the sound of his own voice. It was hoarse and deeper than what he was used to as his own voice. He tried not to let that take over his curiosity about what she handed him to do whatever the hell only she knew.
The plump woman was the housekeeper of young Mr. Penn’s residence, and she was taken aback when he asked her what the home phone he had just recently installed in the house was. Wasn’t he the one who installed it on his father’s orders as he always recklessly missed important calls? It was a wonder he was even awake this early when he usually slept until the afternoon after coming home drunk last night.
"It’s the house phone you installed last week," she replied to his question and saw as he stared at her with a blank look, as if he didn’t understand what she said. What was wrong with the too playful and unserious Mr. Penn today?
"Lucian, I have been calling you the whole time! We have a situation, and it’s bad!" came a voice from the thing in his hand, and he dropped it hastily in disbelief as he hadn’t expected it to talk and even know his name.
"What are you, and how do you know my name?!" he demanded of the thing on the floor with a dark scowl on his face. It was impossible for it to know his name when he hadn’t given it—not unless it was magic.
The housekeeper looked at him, startled but not thinking too much of his behavior, as he liked pulling pranks and making jokes. She hurriedly bent down, picked up the phone, and spoke into it.
