Chapter 70: For the safety of his body.

Sienna held up her hand. "If you lower that whip, I am bringing out my pan." Turning to Elias, she asked sharply, "What did she do that was so bad to warrant this? I recognize her, she is one of the new servants the real estate company sent me two days ago."

A bear beast man guard replied, "She was sent in to deliver tea and tried to climb into the lord’s bed." His whip trembled in his grip.

Sienna’s fury sharpened into a blade. Her eyes narrowed. Without hesitation, she strode forward, her palm flashing.

Piak! 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

A slap cracked the kneeling woman’s cheek, echoing like thunder in the hall. The woman collapse further, clutching her face, her sobs now muffled by shame.

"You dare," Sienna spat, her voice low but venomous, "to crawl into my husband’s bed like a thief in the night? My children are right upstairs! I am in the house for crying out loud. My damn house. I gave you a chance because you were a struggling human and you do this? You disgrace yourself. You disgrace me."

The guards stiffened, their eyes flicking between Sienna and Elias. The fox Lord remained seated, his slightly red yes gleaming with unreadable amusement. His single tail flicked once, slow and deliberate, as though savoring the moment.

Sienna’s fury did not soften. Her slap was not forgiveness--it was condemnation. Her gaze shifted, locking onto her husband.

"And you," she said, her voice rising, trembling with righteous fury, "what was going through your mind? Punishing her here, in my living room, with our children sleeping above? Do you want Ali and Eli to wake to the sounds of whipping and sobbing? You will frighten Ali, and Eli is very impressionable. I don’t want him learning cruelty before learning kindness."

The lanterns flickered, shadows dancing across the walls. The kneeling servant dared not breathe. The guards froze, waiting for a command from their Lord, to continue or halt.

Sienna took a deep breath. "If you must punish her, take it outside. Do not stain my carpet with blood, it was expensive. And don’t kill her, I have no plans of being your partner on death row. She is fired, so get her off my property and ban her from the city."

Her words rang through the room, heavy with authority. For a heartbeat, no one moved. Then Sienna turned on her heel, her red robes swirling, and ascended the stairs without looking back.

The guards watched her with admiration. She had not pleaded for mercy or asked for forgiveness on behalf of the woman. She had not bowed in her husband’s presence. She had simply declared her will and left.

Elias leaned back in his chair, his gaze lingering on the stairs where Sienna had vanished. His lips curved into the faintest smile, a glimmer of admiration flickering in his eyes.

More than her feet and voice, Sienna had found her courage. She had not acted weak, like he expected. She had not suggested pardon, like he thought she would. She had not trembled at the sight of the whips. Instead, she had slapped the servant and drawn a line--unyielding and resolute.

The room remained suspended in silence. The kneeling woman’s sobs were now faint, her shame heavier than any whip.

Elias waved his hand, "Take her outside and continue the punishment and when you are done, do as your Lady said," he finally said, his voice calm but carrying the weight of a command.

The guards bowed, dragging the woman away. The lanterns sputtered, and the living room emptied, leaving only Elias, in his throne-like chair.

He closed his eyes briefly, recalling Sienna’s reaction. The way she had not hesitated to slap the servant. It seemed the pan was not her only weapon, her hands could be used as well.

He touched his neck, where her bite mark had long vanished. His smile deepened. This wife of mine....she is no fragile human. She stings like her bee, and burns hotter than any fire. She is like a wave that refuses to sleep.

Meanwhile the woman he was thinking about was upstairs, her breath still uneven, her heart pounding with fury. She slipped beneath the covers, her body tense, her mind ablaze. Ali rolled over, her small nose twitching as it sought her nose.

Her arms and legs wrapped around Sienna like an octopus. Soft sharp snores came from her nose, her lips seemed to have formed a smile. She was the picture of innocence and Sienna hoped the little one remained untouched by the ugliness of the world.

She stared at the ceiling, her rage simmering. He brought his own throne to my house! What next, is he going to build himself a palace? "Bite me.." she muttered, mimicking Elias in a mocking tone, "Oh, I am the most desirable fox Lord, bite me. I command you."

He was not even supposed to spend the night over here, he should have gone back to his estate. Instead, he was in her house, fighting off servants who wanted to molest him!

She wondered if this was going to become a regular thing. He was one of the most desirable men on the beast continent, human women and beast women would kill for a chance to be picked by him. When they divorced, everyone would probably call her a fool.

The night stretched on, heavy with silence. Yet beneath that silence, a storm brewed--Sienna’s fury and worried, Elias’s admiration, and the fragile balance of power between them.

Sienna was about to close her eyes finally, at around 4:30 AM, when the door creaked, as it was pushed open. With the way Ali was possessively thrown over her belly, she couldn’t get up. Still, she raised her head and managed to see Elias walking in, freshly changed into black pajamas.

"What are you doing here?" She hissed softly.

He walked to the bed, threw the covers back and slid inside. "From now on, when I sleep over, I will be sharing your bed. I don’t feel safe around the women in your compound. Who knows if there are others scheming against my body? For the safety of my body and preservation of my innocence, sacrifices must be made."
