Transmigrated to a Dark Fantasy World of SSS-Rank: King of the Void-Chapter 15: Firearms in a Dark Fantasy World
The flames flickered, casting shadows that danced around the campfire. Nearby, seated with his back against a wooden log, Mitsuki extended his hand toward the fire—his expression focused.
[ The skill "Fire Elemental Magic Lv. 1" has been activated. ]
’It’s become really easy...’
With his palm facing upward, he gently clenched his fist, causing the campfire’s flames to intensify and shift into the same blue fire Ellegaard had shown him before.
’This magic consumes quite a bit of MP depending on how much power I put into the spell. And Intelligence plays a huge role when it comes to controlling magic.’
He looked at the tattoo for information.

’After these past few days, my MP has reached a value equal to my Intelligence. If I keep practicing and spending my mana, I’ll keep growing stronger in arcane magic.’
He returned the flames to normal, then grabbed a cloth from a bowl of water and wiped the blood dripping from his forehead. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
’That elf is way too savage. She almost cracked my skull with that staff. If Jeanne hadn’t stopped her, I’d be dead. Well, that’s tsunderes for you. And it’s not like I can do much about it. I’ve spent half my life ignoring people, so my social skills are trash.’
He smiled faintly.
’On the other hand, she’s still cute even when she’s angry—terrifyingly cute.’
He wrung out the cloth and continued cleaning himself. After a few seconds, he glanced toward the carriage, feeling someone’s gaze.
’Her...’
He thought he saw Ellegaard peeking from behind the corner of the carriage.
’She’s not going to try to kill me in my sleep, right? I’m the only one sleeping by the campfire, after all.’
In retrospect, he hadn’t really done anything wrong. The excitement of the moment had pushed him into doing something stupid, but there had been no bad intentions behind it.
Mitsuki was sure Ellegaard understood that. But being a tsundere, she would refuse to admit that the emotion she felt when her student achieved something incredible had been genuine—at least until she realized what was happening.
’I know I got carried away, but it’s not something to take the wrong way. It’s been years since I achieved something that amazing. She should try putting herself in my shoes.’
Anyway, knowing he was innocent, he set the cloth aside, curled up beside the log, and closed his eyes.
’Huh... I’ll figure things out tomorrow. After everything that’s happened since I came to this world, I’ve never been this tired in my life.’
Darkness filled his mind, pulling him straight into the world of dreams.
Yet in the following hours, strange things happened inside his head.
His dreams showed blurred images, distant voices, and close, mournful cries.
He saw a locket in his hand.
He smelled the fragrance of the beautiful yellow flowers of the Kingdom of Holylight.
He walked through the grand throne room, decorated with pale golden-white marble walls and columns. Windows bearing royal figures and fantastical beasts adorned the hall, while a man in black armor—his face blurred in Mitsuki’s memory—shook his hand in a friendly manner.
He wandered the kingdom with growing joy and hope swelling in his heart.
But suddenly, he found himself limping through the streets. Around him, hundreds of ash statues stared silently toward the castle.
Finally, after leaving the great walls, he sat upon a small hill and admired the sunset with a faint smile.
He became an ash statue.
Mitsuki opened his eyes in fright. He shot upright, eyes wide, cold sweat running down his forehead.
He clutched his chest in pain, and before he realized it, a pair of tears rolled down his cheeks.
’I...’
In a tired whisper, staring at the sunrise filtering through the leaves, he said,
"The Mystery of Cinder..."
He remained seated on the log for a while, thinking.
What he saw had not been a dream. He could feel it in the tears that fell down his face and in the ache in his chest—those emotions buried in the past.
They were memories from the body he had taken when he transmigrated.
’What does this have to do with me?’ he wondered, but someone’s voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Looks like you woke up before everyone else. Uh..." Jeanne said. "Seems like you had a bad dream. Want to talk about it?"
"Huh? What?"
Jeanne gestured toward her eyes. That made Mitsuki touch his face, remembering the tears.
"This? It’s nothing. Really."
"You don’t have to be embarrassed. Men who cry are usually the bravest."
"That’s not it, seriously."
Jeanne shrugged playfully.
"Well, I can’t force you to admit anything. Whether it’s true or not, you don’t look great. Did that grumpy elf’s beating hurt that much?"
"She only hit me once, so it wasn’t exactly a beating..."
Laughing, Jeanne sat down beside him.
"Yeah... Your physical endurance isn’t exactly impressive. I just heard a ’bonk’ and you were already bleeding on the ground. Ellegaard regretted it and checked on you a few times while you were sleeping."
"Yeah. I think I saw her..." Mitsuki said, frowning suspiciously. "I thought she wanted to kill me."
"Man, you worry too much. She’s not as bad as you think... more or less."
’Yeah, sure. Like she didn’t make me bleed with a single hit from that staff. Though that’s also because I’m ridiculously weak,’ he thought, letting out a long sigh.
"Anyway. Let’s have breakfast. I’ll get the kettle going," Jeanne said, patting Mitsuki on the back.
"I’ll go train my magic for a bit. If I run into Ellegaard right now, it’ll be incredibly awkward."
"You’ve got a point. I’ll have a plate ready for you."
"Okay. Thanks."
Heading toward the forest, Mitsuki glanced at the carriage for a second. Once again, he thought he saw Ellegaard peeking out.
’She’s like a kid...’
He continued deeper into the woods until he was out of sight.
Once he was sure he was alone, he said,
"Igor."
The shotgun appeared, wrapped in ash and faint arcane sparks.
Without hesitation, he grabbed the weapon and aimed at a tree.
[ You have equipped the basic double-barrel shotgun "Igor." ]
[ The skill "Weapon Mastery Lv. 1" has been activated. ]
’I was thinking about this last night after Ellegaard hit me with her staff.’
[ The skill "Fire Elemental Magic Lv. 1" has been activated. ]
’She uses her staff to channel her magic, like any mage. But I have a shotgun without shells or even a chamber for them. That only leaves one option.’
The shotgun suddenly roared like it had an engine inside it. Smoke poured from its barrel, and the openings in the metal glowed with the blue hue of arcane flames.
’This shotgun is basically a staff.’
Click.
Bang!
He pulled the trigger, and in the next instant, a bullet of fire shot out of the barrel, blasting Mitsuki backward and knocking him flat on his back.
The victim of the shot—the tree—fell alongside its brothers and neighbors. The wooden trunks were charred and torn apart.
From the ground, Mitsuki grinned as he looked at the weapon.
’A firearm in a fantasy world... This is the best!’
