"Ah. There appears to be some kind of mistake. Sometimes, these orbs malfunction out of nowhere. Apologies."

Cesilion took the orb from Nick, who offered little resistance because he was thoroughly confused. After the elf took the orb, he stared at it for a few seconds and then tried to hide his surprise.

For Nick, it was clear as day. Whatever red meant, it definitely wasn't something they were expecting to see for him.

The elf tossed the orb back into their suitcase, treating it like the plague the whole time. Then he reached to grab another.

Pulling it out, he made a show of inspecting it. He must have decided that it was fine because he tossed it at Nick.

For a second it was completely dark, but then...

Red!

"Who are you?!" The orc practically screamed, his previous nonchalant demeanor all but forgotten.

Cesilion reached across the table to punch his arm. Ashgar sent him a death stare that did little to deter the elf.

"I won the bet then! I told you Yck couldn't clear a tampered dungeon by himself!"

'Yck? Why would that idiot be able to clear a dungeon?'

Cesilion turned back to Nick, this time with even more excitement.

A soft light flashed across his eyes as he said, "So, how do you hide your energy like that? To be an SSS-Rank but look like you aren't even a raider..."

"Yeah, it's dangerous. He's not some new toy, Cesil. We had pretty clear orders." The orc took a big piece of bread after saying this and then shoved it in his mouth.

Juliana tensed at the word 'orders.' Nick eyed them up as well. Cesil had just said something about hiding energy, so Nick figured that was what they were doing right now. But he also made it sound like an amazing feat...

And Nick couldn't sense anything from them.

But did that make them unimaginably weak or terrifyingly strong?

His gaze never left Cesilion even as he performed the simple act of sipping tea.

The elf dabbed his mouth with a handkerchief before speaking. "If you 2 would be so kind, I'd love to hear your names. We've already given ours, so it's only fair."

"Marlene," Juliana said almost instantly before Nick could even answer. Good thing too, because he was about to say his real name.

He couldn't exactly tell why, but that felt like a bad idea. Even though the name Nick shouldn't have any attachment in this place.

"I'm Bruce."

Cesilion nodded, looking into Nick's eyes the entire time. Then he turned to Ashgar and said, "Neither of those names are registered in the Forgotten Quadrant, are they?"

Ashgar tapped his spoon against the side of his teacup before taking a sip. His silence was confirmation.

'What the hell is the Forgotten Quadrant?'

"Well, if you're truly SSS-Rank I can see how you survived out there. Someone with your strength probably knows its horrors even more than myself."

'Horrors? Is he talking about the tutorial section then?' That's the only spot he knew with monsters, which could be described as a sort of horror he supposed.

The system's map did closely resemble Aether Babe's first world, though in that game 2 things didn't exist: this Federation and Forgotten Quadrant.

However, there were multiple spots outside of cities where monsters and even bosses would spawn. Maybe in this game world, they all just collected in that one part.

Forgotten Quadrant.

'There's a lot of forgetting and remembering here, huh.'

Juliana smiled as she asked Cesilion for the tea pitcher. He offered to pour it for her, but before he could finish his sentence, she had already done so herself.

As she pressed the teacup to her lips, she smiled and asked, "Is there anything else we can help you with?"

Cesilion turned to Ashgar, almost as if seeking approval. The orc responded with a simple shrug.

Turning back to them with a smile, he said, "Well, I don't know how much you're aware of, considering where our reports say you come from. But, well, big things are happening."

'Oblivion?' Nick thought as his attention increased tenfold.

A small sigh left the endlessly optimistic elf as he continued.

"Tension between guilds is at an all-time high. The first floor of the Tower of Eternity is nearly cleared, which has created a sort of power struggle. Basically, what I'm saying is that if you are SSS-Ranked, I implore you not to join any guild. Doing so could severely harm the balance of things, you see."

Nick didn't pay much attention to the last part after he heard the first floor of the Tower of Eternity was almost cleared.

In the game's lore, being the one to clear the boss would give a huge reward– like some long-lost, powerful reality-warping artifact. Even in the game, clearing the tower bosses gave insane rewards.

If it was similar here, then he needed to get stronger much faster. It was time to really go heavy with the grinding.

Cesilion took one last sip of his tea before turning to Ashgar.

"Well, I believe we've stayed our welcome."

Then he stood up and left, the orc following close behind.

...

The second they left, Nick pulled up the Valkyrie page. Namely, Juliana's stats.

'Still C-Rank.'

He took in a deep breath, mentally preparing himself for the upcoming test. Then he turned to Juliana and said, "Hey. Can you hit me real quick? But only like 5 percent!"

She laughed as he raised his hands quickly, realizing how dumb the idea truly was. But he had to see if he was really SSS-Rank.

The second her first connected he was sent flying back. His chair shattered underneath him upon impact and just the pressure in the air felt deafening.

'Ouch.' Nick thought as he rubbed his head. But he now knew that he definitely wasn't SSS-Rank.

"It was me, Nick."

'Huh?'

He looked up to see Ugyr enter the room with a smile. But what she said didn't make sense.

She wasn't invisible to him, only the game world. He would've seen her. Unless maybe just the passive extent of her aura was SSS-Rank?

It didn't feel like it though–the energy he felt from her was only around double that of Juliana. Formidable, yes.

But nowhere close to what he imagined SSS-Rank to be.

"What I mean, Nick, is that I'm the key to awakening your Dragonwalker heritage."
