[Nick's PoV]

Just as fast as the voice of Khaic, the Bloodknight, appeared, it had disappeared again. With its disappearance, it was almost as if some invisible yet gigantic weight was lifted off of Nick.

Taking a tentative step forward, he found that the barrier blocking his access to the first altar was finally gone. He didn't know if the Bloodknight had put the barrier there or some other force, but in the end that detail wouldn't matter too much.

In just a few steps he was going to gain a great power, breaking one of the seals of Annihilation in his [Fang of Finality].

With that, he was going to save—

'What the?'

The second he had placed his hand on the altar, the landscape of the throne room had crumbled away, transporting him to some kind of ruins.

Nick looked around the destroyed buildings, doing his best to block the smell of soot filling the air. The scene looked familiar, but he couldn't quite figure out why. This absence mixed with the other absences: of people, of life, even of the dead.

It was like everything was destroyed, completely and utterly.

Whether this place was simply destroyed by time or some sinister force...

He couldn't exactly tell.

...

After a few hours of exploring, he knew for a fact that this place was one he knew. The very layout felt familiar, the few remnants of buildings sticking out against the otherwise crumbling civilization like a sore thumb.

He knew these buildings. But they weren't from home, his first one on Earth. Nor his second, with Juls and Amelia and Ugyr.

'Where do I know this place from, then?'

As Nick ran his hands across a single beam that once held some grand building, he wondered if he was just imagining his recollections. After all, the landscape was nigh monotonous. It was highly unlikely he truly knew what this place represented.

Looking to the sky, Nick reflexively held up his hand expecting the sun's rays to hit him. He lowered his hand as he found something far darker and more foreboding.

'What the hell is that? What is this place?!'

Off in the distance, on top of a hill, stood a large gray monolith. Although Nick could clearly see the sun behind it, this monolith seemed to suck all of its light and grace.

Wind rustled at his feet, causing his pants to flap. Because of all the rocks and rubble laid across the ground, this wind continually bumped off of surfaces and grew more and more intent. Within seconds it felt like a violent hurricane pressing against his legs rather than just some soft and innocent wind.

The surrounding debris groaned and quaked against this wind. Despite the lack of infrastructure, this wind still created a sound similar to many buildings preparing to fall.

For Nick, it felt like this strange city was falling apart a second time. And as ruin and destruction rained upon this unfortunate city, he realized where he knew it from.

In the game Aether Babes, there was a world filled to the brim with ruins—world 3, Eden. Like many players, he had felt that this name was only given as some sick sense of irony by the devs. Of course they'd name the world filled with countless ruins after a primordial paradise.

Anyway, within this world there were a few cities of legend. One of them being Eilanderil, of course. However, he already knew that was changing in this world because he was currently defending it. Maybe that meant he had a chance to change things here.

Because, right now, he was standing on the ruins of a city known as Avalon. It was a city that the lore books said gods used to visit regularly. Even in the game, this city called Avalon had long been ruins. But, so had Eilanderil.

Which raised a rather dangerous question.

Why?

Why was the timeline of the game he knew so messed up?

Was it because he was meant to stop the city of Eilanderil from falling into ruin, or...

Was he the one who destroyed it?

Knowing there was only one spot that held answers, Nick turned to the grey monolith on top of the hill. A replica of the Tower of Eternity. In the game Aether Babes, most players only knew that it was a conveniently placed entry point to the Tower of Eternity, a place where players would clear floors for rewards.

In lore, it was known that a replica was moreso a door or gateway. That a grey monolith such as this could almost be seen as a sort of tether for this part of reality. Should an area's monolith fall, that area would simply cease to exist.

He wasn't necessarily so attached to these ruins that this replica being destroyed bothered him, but he knew the altar brought him here for some reason. This was a place that directly faced Annihilation and failed horribly.

Readying his Fang, Nick began the journey to break the first seal of Annihilation.

...

"Hey, dickhead. What the fuck are you doing here, my king?"

Juliana sneered as she addressed Nick.

He knew that she wasn't the real Juliana, or at least he was very very certain she wasn't, but still. The person standing across from him, leaning on the monolith seemingly without a care in the world certainly looked like her.

This content is taken from fгeewebnovёl.com.

Fake Juliana had the same scarlet hair and fiery red eyes. She held the same wild grin, one that Nick felt was always one second away from either kissing him or tearing his face off. Looking down...

Yes, she even had those 2 fabulous assets...

'Focus!'

It became apparent to Nick the true danger of this situation. If fake Juliana turned out to be hostile... well, it was very hard not to find her hot.

Doing his best to put on a stern and authoritative face, Nick gripped his Fang tightly as he approached her. In a low voice, he asked, "Who are you?"

Juliana quickly adopted a pouting lip, one that was sarcastically overexaggerated. She rocked her body a little as she looked to the side with a small yet sly smile. A small glimpse of perfectly white teeth could be seen through that smile.

After eyeing him up for another second, she walked towards him while making sure to sway her hips. It was virtually impossible not to notice her curves and generous figure. Even the gray light of the place worked to illuminate her breasts with whatever radiance escaped the monolith.

Even the universe itself seemed to be attempting to seduce Nick at this moment.

Just inches away from his face, she gazed into his eyes. Even if she was fake... the crazy and love she exuded felt almost the same as the Juliana he knew.

Placing one of her hands on his neck and then lowering it to the scruff of his shirt, she pulled him close to whisper in his ear, "Why am I here? Well, to serve my king of course."

Nick's entire body started to heat as she amplified her advances. No longer satisfied with merely teasing him, Juls reached down with her other hand. He gasped as he felt a touch he never thought he'd feel in his life.

"Put aside your worries, my King. The demons... they're foolish ants. They merely do what their Queen tells them to, in hopes that their nest may grow. In reality, well..."

She smiled as the heat Nick felt inside intensified. His stomach turned into butterflies as a mixture between ecstasy and fear filled his mind.

The real Juliana would not act this way. Her ruse was more than obvious to Nick right now. This heavy, hot sensation wasn't created to pleasure him.

Rather, they were trying to trap him, detain him, to play on his desires. He didn't exactly know why, or how there was a second Juliana to do this, but he did know that.

Noticing him tense up, Juliana attempted to up the intensity. Unbuttoning his shirt, she cast him a seductive glance as she traced her free hand over his chest then down to his abdomen.

Lowering her face to his, she opened her mouth as she planted a soft kiss. Smells of strawberries and roses filled Nick's senses. Her breathless mouth whimpered as she begged for his air, waiting for Nick to breathe her back to life. It was a moment of pure trickery.

One that, despite his desire for Juliana, Nick saw right through.

"Tell me what the fuck is going on, or I'm going to twist this blade even deeper." Nick whispered instead of returning the kiss.

Juliana's breath caught in her throat again, but this time for an entirely different reason. Instead of some false sense of passion, she now only felt one thing.

Fear. Pure fear.

She... her master was wrong. The king... though young... was not one to be deceived.
