Transmigration; Married to My Ex-Fiancé's Uncle-Chapter 325; Lin family 4
"They prefer to be near the exits," Lu Yuze said smoothly. "For security purposes. The staff quarters will be perfect."
What he didn’t say: Ting Fei, Ah Ying, and Ah Ling would be positioned to monitor every entrance and exit, to intercept anything that looked like foul play, and to report everything that happened in this house back to him.
Lin Feng understood this. His face paled slightly. "Of course. Whatever you prefer, Mr. Lu."
---
As they were led deeper into the mansion, Yuyan walked close to Shuyin, her footsteps whisper-quiet on the polished floors. She tugged gently on Shuyin’s sleeve, her voice barely a breath.
"Why are we pretending you’re our nanny?"
Shuyin glanced down at her, then whispered back: "Because sometimes the best way to destroy your enemies is to let them think you’re weak first."
She paused.
"Watch and learn."
Yuyan’s eyes flickered, something quiet and sharp moving behind them. She’d been scared by monsters tonight, genuinely scared, still carrying the tremor of it somewhere in her bones.
But this? This was different.
This was fascinating.
As they walked to the foot of the stairs leading to the guest wing, Shuyin glanced back at the sitting room below. Chen Madam and Lin Yueling had their heads together, whispering urgently. Lin Feng stood apart from them, arms crossed, staring at nothing.
They thought this was strange. Suspicious. Unsettling.
They had no idea.
The real Shuyin had died in that prison, abandoned by every single person in this house. Kailani had taken her place, absorbed her memories, her grief, her quiet, burning need for justice.
And now she was here. Back in the house where it all began. With Lu Yuze’s resources at her back, a husband who would burn the world down for her, and absolutely nothing left to lose.
Let the games begin.

Lin Feng caught up, and led them through the hallway, up the grand staircase to the second floor, then down another corridor toward the guest wing on the upper level. His steps were quick, nervous, and he kept glancing back at Lu Yuze as if afraid the man might change his mind about staying at all.
Chen Madam and Lin Yueling followed a few paces behind, their whispered conversation cutting off abruptly whenever anyone looked their way.
At the end of the corridor, Lin Feng stopped in front of a door and produced a key. The lock stuck slightly, requiring him to jiggle it before the mechanism gave way with a reluctant click.
He pushed the door open and stepped aside, gesturing them in with a forced smile.
"What do you think?"
Shuyin stepped into the room and stopped.
It was small. Not tiny, but decidedly cramped for four people. A single bed, queen-sized, reasonably comfortable-looking, dominated most of the space. A narrow dresser stood against one wall, a small writing desk beneath the window. The wallpaper was dated but clean, the curtains heavy but faded at the edges.
It was, quite clearly, a room meant for one person. Two at most.
Not a family of four.
Lu Yuze entered behind her, his gaze sweeping the space with cool assessment. Yuyan slipped in next, her expression carefully neutral. Chen Xiao stayed in the doorway, one hand gripping the frame, his dark eyes taking in everything.
Shuyin turned back to her father, her expression troubled but trying to be gracious.
"Father, this won’t work."
Lin Feng’s smile faltered. "I know it’s modest, but it’s only for a night or two...."
"It’s not about modesty," Shuyin interrupted gently. She gestured to the room, to the children, to Lu Yuze standing quietly behind her. "Look at this family. There are four of us. Yuyan and Chen Xiao can’t sleep alone, not after everything that’s happened. I stay with them at night. And their father..." She glanced at Lu Yuze. "He prefers to stay close as well. For security. This simply won’t work."
Lin Feng’s jaw tightened. His eyes darted to Lu Yuze, measuring, trying to determine how much he could push back without causing offense.
"You could sleep with your sister," he suggested quickly, his tone placating but strained. "Lin Yueling has a large room. We could set up a cot for you there, just for tonight, and tomorrow we can arrange something more....."
"We can’t sleep apart, Father," Shuyin said firmly, cutting him off. Her voice carried a thread of desperation now, as if the very idea distressed her. "The children have been sleeping with me every night. They’re frightened. They have nightmares about... about monsters. They wake up crying if I’m not there."
She looked down at Chen Xiao, who stood silent and watchful in the doorway, his small face unreadable.
"And their father needs to be close by," she continued, turning back to Lin Feng. "In case something happens. In case they need him. Surely you understand?"
From behind Lin Feng, Lin Yueling’s voice cut through the air, sharp and incredulous.
"Shuyin... are you planning to sleep with Mr. Lu in the same bedroom?"
The question landed like a stone in still water.
Shuyin turned slowly to face her half-sister, her expression carefully arranged into confusion and hurt. "Yueling, why are you saying it like that?"
Lin Yueling stepped forward, her pregnant belly leading, her face flushed with a mixture of shock and anger. "I..... how can a man and a woman sleep in the same room? Aren’t you worried about your reputation? Your chastity?"
The words hung in the air, accusatory and ugly.
Shuyin blinked, her eyes wide and wounded, as if she couldn’t quite believe what she was hearing.
"Is there something wrong with it?" she asked quietly, her tone innocent, almost childlike. "We’re not... It’s not what you’re implying."
"Then what is it?" Lin Yueling demanded.
Shuyin’s gaze dropped, as if embarrassed, before she answered. "The children sleep with me. Chen Xiao and Yuyan share one bed, and I’m there with them in case they wake up frightened. Their father..." She glanced at Lu Yuze, her expression soft, grateful. "He takes the other bed. To keep watch. To make sure we’re safe."
