Transmigration:The Villain Wants A Happy End Without His BeastHusbands-Chapter 103: A Dream
"What is this...?"
Ningyan stood in complete darkness.
Each step he took across the black floor left faint traces of white-gold light behind him. Ahead, the only illumination in the endless space was a single object. A large crystal floating in the air, shaped like a flame and glowing deep blue.
He didn’t know how he had gotten here.
The last thing he remembered was falling asleep in Meishan’s arms beneath the tree. Then... nothing.
Now he was standing in a strange void, staring at the crystal.
Slowly, he approached it. The blue light reflected in his violet eyes as he raised a hand and touched the surface.
The moment his fingers made contact, ripples spread across the crystal’s smooth surface.
Startled, Ningyan immediately pulled his hand back.
The crystal suddenly shifted colors.
Blue turned to brilliant white-gold in an instant.
Ningyan’s eyes widened in shock, confusion twisting in his chest.
Then just as quickly, the light snapped back to blue.
"Wha... ack!" A sharp pain exploded through Ningyan’s chest.
It felt as if his heart were being ripped apart.
A strangled breath escaped him as his eyes widened in panic. He clutched his chest, gasping, the pain spreading like something tearing through his life force.
Then everything went black.
When he opened his eyes again, the first thing he saw was a pair of wide, worried emerald serpent eyes.
"Ningyan!"
Lan Meishan’s voice was urgent as he shook Ningyan’s shoulders.
Ningyan blinked slowly, his chest tight as though he had been drowning. A deep breath finally tore free from his lungs.
Meishan helped him sit up, pulling him against his chest.
Ningyan gripped his chest again, breathing hard, his heart racing wildly before it slowly began to calm. Finally, he buried his face against Meishan’s chest and whispered hoarsely,
"I’m... fine."
He wasn’t.
But Meishan’s hand was already moving across his back, rubbing gently. The steady motion soothed him enough that his breathing gradually steadied.
Eventually, exhaustion overtook him.
With his face still pressed against Meishan’s chest, Ningyan drifted back to sleep. This time without the vision of the floating crystal. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

When Ningyan woke, dawn had already arrived.
The sun was just beginning to rise, pale light spilling across the clearing. He quickly realized he was fully dressed but Meishan was nowhere in sight.
Ningyan immediately sat up, whipping his head from side to side, eyes wide as he scanned the area.
"Meishan?!" he called loudly, a sudden panic rising in his chest.
What if it had all been a dream?
And if it was... it had been one crazy dream.
"Oh no... was it really a dream?!" he gasped.
He rubbed his cheeks, his face flushing red as the memories rushed back. Pushing himself to his feet, he froze the moment a sharp jolt of soreness ran through his body.
His eyes widened before a dramatic groan escaped him. He placed a hand on his hip.
"That definitely doesn’t feel like a dream."
"Ningyan?" Meishan’s voice suddenly sounded behind him.
Ningyan spun around with wide eyes. "Where did you—"
He stopped mid-sentence, letting out a breath of relief as Meishan walked toward him. Meishan was fully dressed, his glasses resting neatly on his nose, a small smile on his face.
Ningyan couldn’t help smiling back. "So it wasn’t a dream after all?"
Meishan, who had been about to embrace him, paused and raised a brow.
"You thought it was a dream?" he asked, surprise coloring his voice.
Ningyan laughed at the expression on his face. "No, I—well... I didn’t see you, so..."
Before he could finish, Meishan suddenly pulled him into a tight embrace, relaxing against his body.
Ningyan smiled and wrapped his arms around him in return.
But Meishan wasn’t smiling anymore.
His eyes were open, glowing faintly as his hand pressed firmly against Ningyan’s back.
While Ningyan had been trapped in that strange vision, Meishan had witnessed something terrifying.
Ningyan had begun convulsing in his arms, his body suddenly engulfed in a blue light. The sight had sent panic through Meishan as he tried desperately to wake him.
The spiritual energy pouring from Ningyan in that moment had felt ancient.
Eventually, the two of them left the spirit pool and returned to Ningyan’s house within the main community.
Once they settled inside, Meishan looked around the small but tidy space with quiet curiosity.
The room was simple with a bed, a small table with cushions, and a wide window that overlooked the ocean. Soft light spilled through it, illuminating the white walls painted with delicate flowers in deep blue and green.
It was peaceful.
Meishan immediately understood why Ningyan had chosen this place.
It felt safe. The community lived close by, and the quiet surroundings made it easy to disappear into ordinary life.
But Meishan also knew the truth behind that comfort.
If he had managed to find Ningyan here, then others could too.
And those "others" included Yan Wuhen.
Lan Meishan turned his head toward Ningyan, who was busily fixing the bed, changing the sheets even though they were already clean. A faint blush colored Ningyan’s cheeks.
Meishan couldn’t help wondering if Ningyan was remembering their time together beneath the tree.
The thought alone made Meishan’s own face warm.
He stepped closer and gently took the sheet from Ningyan’s hands.
Ningyan looked up in surprise.
"I can help," Meishan said simply.
Ningyan smiled softly. "You really don’t have to, A-Shan."
Meishan returned the smile. "Can I stay here with you?"
Ningyan blinked, clearly caught off guard. "You really want to stay here with me?"
"We were supposed to leave the academy together," Meishan said quietly. "And I’ve been looking for you so we could be together."
Ningyan immediately lifted his hands and squished Meishan’s cheeks together, pressing his lips into a pout. The sight was so adorable that Ningyan couldn’t stop himself from grinning.
"We are together," he said warmly. "But if we’re staying together, I should go get us some food. We’ll need our energy."
He tilted his head thoughtfully. "And maybe we could go to the city tonight."
Meishan blinked. Even with his lips still squished together, he managed to say, "I don’t think that’s a good idea."
"I have an illusion mask," Ningyan replied easily. "But if you’d rather not go, we can just relax at the beach."
Meishan smiled and nodded. "We can do that."
In truth, he mostly wanted to stay close to Ningyan. To make sure he was safe while also trying to understand what had happened earlier.
He lifted a hand and gently touched Ningyan’s cheek.
"Are you feeling okay?" he asked softly.
Ningyan nodded. "I am."
Meishan studied his face for a moment before nodding slowly.
"I’m glad."
Inside, he made a quiet promise to himself.
He would make sure Ningyan stayed this happy. No matter what it took.
