Chapter 118: I Am Exactly Where I Belong.

"I think I am going to die if I do not eat soon," Ningyan groaned dramatically as he rubbed his stomach.

He was currently disguised as a wolf beastman, his pained expression hidden behind the mask on his face as he walked beside a hooded Meishan.

"I’m sure we will come across an inn soon," Meishan said calmly, his eyes scanning the surrounding buildings.

They were currently walking through the busy streets of the Phoenix Clan territory after traveling for nearly a week.

But at least they had finally arrived.

Ningyan groaned again, this time hugging Meishan’s arm. "I’m going to die."

"You are not going to die," Meishan replied with a small smile.

Ningyan simply groaned louder and swung himself dramatically on Meishan’s arm while they continued walking.

Fortunately, Meishan soon spotted an inn.

They entered together.

Meishan made sure to request a very important beast section of the restaurant so they could eat in privacy.

Once the dishes and drinks were served and the server left the room, Ningyan immediately removed his mask.

His long white hair, slightly ruffled from travel, fell freely around his shoulders.

His violet eyes sparkled with excitement as his beautiful face lit up at the sight of the food.

Without hesitation, he began eating quickly, as if he hadn’t eaten for years.

Meishan simply watched him with a pleasant smile.

Truthfully, they had not been eating well during their travels.

But Ningyan always behaved like this whenever they finally sat down for a proper meal.

He ate as though it was the first time he had ever tasted food.

Soft, pleased sounds escaped him as he ate, the clear enjoyment on his face somehow making Meishan’s chest warm.

Heat slowly crept into Meishan’s cheeks.

He quietly picked up his cup of water and drank it in one go before finally beginning to eat as well.

Once they were both somewhat satisfied, Ningyan spoke first. "Should we spend the night here?"

Meishan glanced at him. "We still have enough daylight to reach the clan manor."

Ningyan immediately pursed his lips. He looked... slightly tense. "We do, don’t we?"

Meishan studied him carefully.

After a moment, he simply said, "We can stay."

Ningyan’s face immediately brightened. "Yes!"

Before Meishan could react, Ningyan suddenly pushed the table aside.

Meishan was still holding his chopsticks when Ningyan crawled across the floor toward him with a mischievous smile.

Before he could process what was happening, Ningyan had already jumped onto him.

Meishan’s back hit the floor with a soft thud.

Ningyan straddled him, leaning over him with that same playful smile.

Meishan stared up at him in surprise.

Ningyan leaned down slightly. One hand rested against Meishan’s chest while the other reached up to adjust Meishan’s glasses, which had been knocked slightly crooked.

Then Ningyan spoke casually. "Let’s get married tonight at the Fire Beast God Temple."

Meishan’s eyes widened. Then something rare appeared on his face. A genuine smile.

Ningyan’s own eyes widened in shock. This was actually the widest smile he had ever seen on Meishan’s face.

He looked... so happy.

"Okay," Meishan said.

Ningyan laughed and leaned back, squishing Meishan’s cheeks with both hands.

Meishan immediately raised his arms and grabbed Ningyan by the waist.

Without hesitation, Ningyan leaned down and pressed a kiss to his lips.

Meishan deepened it instantly. He held Ningyan tightly, almost as if he were afraid Ningyan might disappear if he loosened his grip.

They kissed slowly, unhurried and passionate, tasting each other quietly.

Ningyan was already reaching to start pulling Meishan’s clothes apart when the door suddenly opened.

The server stepped inside.

He gasped loudly.

Ningyan immediately turned his head toward him and shot him a sharp glare.

Lan Meishan froze.

The server quickly bowed his head. "I—I’m sorry! I didn’t— I mean... I wasn’t—"

He stuttered helplessly, his face burning with embarrassment.

Ningyan frowned at him before lazily collapsing back onto Meishan.

Meishan pushed himself upright, and Ningyan clung to him like a koala.

"Have a room prepared for us," Meishan said calmly.

The server, who had just been about to flee, froze again.

He turned back and bowed repeatedly. "Yes! Yes, of course!"

Then he hurried away as fast as he could.

Still clinging to Meishan, Ningyan blinked slowly.

Meishan wrapped one arm securely around him.

At the same time, a thin rope of emerald light appeared in the air. It curled around the table Ningyan had pushed aside and gently dragged it back into place in front of them.

Meishan calmly picked up another pair of chopsticks and continued eating.

Ningyan remained wrapped around him and asked quietly, "Do you think he recognized me?"

"You are bound to be recognized here," Meishan replied calmly. "You do not even need to hide anymore."

He took another bite of food. "I doubt any assassins would remain here while Madam Qin Linhua is present. They are all out there searching for you."

Ningyan pressed his lips together. "I have to kill her."

Meishan paused while eating. He felt Ningyan tense slightly against him.

"Like you said," Meishan replied calmly, "it is either her or you. If you do not kill her, then I will. If she tries to hurt you again, I will not hesitate."

Ningyan slowly relaxed against him. "You always agree with me,"

He leaned back slightly so he could see Meishan’s face. "You never refuse me."

Meishan raised an eyebrow. "Why would I refuse you?"

Ningyan suddenly blushed shamelessly. He placed his hands on Meishan’s shoulders and leaned closer. "Others might think I am manipulating you."

"I don’t mind if you manipulate me," Meishan replied without hesitation.

Ningyan immediately poked his cheek. "This is exactly what I mean."

Meishan’s lips curled slightly into a faint smirk. "I am exactly where I belong."

Ningyan’s eyes widened. Then he suddenly buried his face against Meishan again, clinging to him tightly.

Meishan simply continued eating.

Meanwhile, Ningyan hid his burning red face.

Meishan truly had no filter.

Those words had almost given Ningyan a nosebleed.

He had said it so naturally.

I am exactly where I belong.

Ningyan felt like his heart was going to explode.
