Chapter 131: It Is Done

Su Ningyan hadn’t expected that. Not from Su Qiyuan.

Qiyuan’s hands trembled as he dropped to his knees.

Then, he bowed. Forehead pressed to the ground.

"Please... Ningyan." His voice cracked. "I am sorry for everything that happened to you. But you have to understand... I cannot lose my sister."

Silence.

Ningyan’s grip tightened slightly around the unconscious Su Nianci.

He looked down at her. Then back at Qiyuan.

Why... Did this feel wrong?

A faint frown touched his lips.

He should have felt nothing. Satisfaction, maybe. Vindication.

But instead,

He felt like an asshole.

...Good.

Ningyan exhaled quietly.

At least that meant, he wasn’t a monster.

Not yet.

"You’re begging on behalf of your mother?" His voice was calm. Too calm. "That doesn’t reassure me that she won’t send more assassins after me, Su Qiyuan."

He stepped forward. Landed lightly on the roof of the manor.

His wings vanished. But the ominous purple glow around him did not.

Qiyuan slowly lifted his head. Desperation burned in his fiery serpent eyes.

"I will talk to her," he said quickly.

Ningyan let out a quiet, humorless laugh. "You and I both know Madam Qin doesn’t understand the word ’talk.’"

His gaze sharpened. "That’s why I abducted Nianci in the first place."

He dropped from the roof. Landed directly in front of Qiyuan.

Up close, that desperation was even clearer. Raw. Ugly. Real.

"I only wanted peace," Ningyan continued, quieter now. "Peace and quiet."

Then, a sharper edge. "But your mother... must have had nightmares of me sitting on a throne that doesn’t even belong to her."

Qiyuan swallowed hard. "I—" His voice failed him.

He pressed his lips together, breathing unevenly before forcing himself upright.

His eyes flickered to Nianci. But he didn’t move closer. He didn’t dare.

"I will handle it." His voice steadied. Barely. "I swear on my life. I swear on Nianci’s life."

Su Ningyan frowned slightly. His gaze drifted, landing on Lan Meishan across the courtyard.

Those glowing emerald serpent eyes were fixed on him. Unreadable.

For a moment, Ningyan wanted to know what he was thinking.

But he pulled his attention away. Now wasn’t the time to be distracted.

"You will bring her to me," Ningyan said calmly, looking back at Su Qiyuan. "Have her say it herself. Because I do not want to hear it from you."

Qiyuan hesitated. Then, "If I succeed... will you still hurt us?"

Ningyan tilted his head slightly. A faint smile tugged at his lips. "Are you afraid of me, Su Qiyuan?"

Qiyuan’s eyes widened.

"You should be."

The words landed softly but carried weight.

Qiyuan didn’t argue. He turned and rushed toward the manor. Only to halt.

Madam Qin Lihua stepped out before he could enter. Her gaze swept across the courtyard, the bodies, the destruction.

Then stopped on Lan Meishan.

She swallowed. "You’re working with the bastard... Lan Meishan?"

The air shifted.

Meishan’s eyes darkened. "He is my husband. Show him respect, Madam Qin."

Silence.

"Husband?" she echoed.

Even Qiyuan froze. Slowly turning to look at Ningyan.

Ningyan didn’t deny it. If anything, he looked proud.

Then he met Madam Qin’s gaze. "Dissolve the bounty on my head."

She stared at him. Her expression tightening as her eyes flickered to Su Nianci in his arms.

"Do you want the Phoenix Clan?" she asked.

For a moment, Ningyan paused.

Yunyi flashed through his mind. Her pleading. Her betrayal.

"...No." A single firm and certain word.

Madam Qin exhaled. "Then it is done."

She turned, walking back into the manor without another glance.

Ningyan’s lips twitched.

She was scared and wary of him. But she hadn’t let go of pride.

But... she agreed. That was enough.

He stepped forward. Stopping before Qiyuan.

A bright, almost playful smile curved his lips. "I always keep my word."

He handed Su Nianci back to him.

Qiyuan blinked, stunned as he took his sister into his arms.

At the same time, the ominous purple glow around Ningyan finally faded. He turned, moving toward Lan Meishan.

Instantly, Meishan’s arm wrapped around his waist possessively.

From the manor entrance, Madam Qin paused. Watching.

So did Qiyuan.

An emerald glow bloomed beneath their feet. And in the next moment, they were gone. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Silence followed.

Later that night, there was movement.

Servants rushed in. Bodies were cleared. Blood erased.

Order was restored.

But whispers spread faster than anything else.

"He felt like a vengeful beast god..."

"Madam Qin was afraid of him. I saw it in her eyes."

"Did you hear? He’s married to Lan Meishan..."

Meanwhile, Su Nianci had been cleaned and returned to her chamber.

She slept. Unaware.

Su Qiyuan stood beside her bed, his expression solemn.

Everything that had happened that night replayed in his mind over and over again.

After a long while, he exited the chamber.

The main hall was still lit.

Inside, Madam Qin Lihua sat with Su Mingze.

"You never told me he had grown that strong," Madam Qin said, her voice tight with restrained fury. "He didn’t even feel like a divine beast... he felt like a beast god."

Mingze scoffed, frustrated. "How am I supposed to know? I still don’t even understand how his core was repaired."

He gasped. "And now he’s married to Lan Meishan? Since when?"

Madam Qin’s jaw clenched. "I have dissolved the bounty. For now."

That was all Qiyuan needed to hear.

He turned and left.

But then, blood.

The scent hit him first.

Qiyuan froze.

A servant lay sprawled on the ground. Dead.

His eyes sharpened instantly.

Another body. Then another.

The deeper he went, the more there were.

Something was wrong. Very wrong.

He broke into a run. "Hengyue—!"

He pushed open the door. And froze.

Su Hengyue’s body collapsed forward.

Headless.

For a moment, Qiyuan couldn’t breathe.

Then, panic filled his being. "Nianci!"

He ran. Faster than he ever had. Bursting into her chamber.

Blood. So much blood.

The bed was soaked.

Su Nianci lay there. Her face ruined.

"No... no—" His voice broke.

Tears blurred his vision as he staggered back.

Then he ran again. Back to the main hall.

"Mother—!" He stopped.

Madam Qin Lihua was cut in half. Her upper body lay several feet from her lower half.

Blood pooled beneath her.

Mingze screamed. A blade pierced through him straight down to his manhood.

He choked before his head was severed cleanly.

Qiyuan collapsed backward. Terror swallowing him whole.

The figure turned. The hood fell back.

Golden reptilian eyes. Dark blue hair. A face that was far too calm.

Jun Haoxuan.

"Shall I put you out of your misery too?" He stepped forward.

Qiyuan didn’t even have time to speak.

A flash. Darkness. His head dropped off his body.

Haoxuan exhaled softly. Almost bored.

He glanced at the blood on his blade. Then yawned.

"At least now..." His voice was quiet. "I know where the crystal is."
