Chapter 105: Teaching Lilith Blackthorn

Nearly a month had passed since their last meeting, and Aizen noticed a subtle change in Lilith’s demeanor.

This change stemmed from confidence—an aura shift resulting from her improved strength.

Every individual possessed an intangible aura, a spiritual presence of sorts. Not only did people have such an aura, but even their surroundings exuded it. When a person’s aura harmonized with their environment, it was the state known as oneness of heaven and man.

In Sorcery cultivation, such harmony was paramount: the unity of man and heaven, mind and breath, spirit and the Path.

At the pinnacle of Sorcery arts, every gesture and movement could create waves of aura that influenced the world around the practitioner.

"You’ve already broken through to the Blood Refining Stage?" Aizen asked, surprised as he gazed into Lilith’s clear, black-and-white eyes.

"If you can break through so quickly, why wouldn’t I be able to?" she replied with a smile, pouring Aizen a cup of wine.

From the wine pot, the liquid flowed in a thin stream, like a silver thread, landing perfectly in the cup without spilling a drop. The precision was flawless.

With a gentle nudge, she sent the cup toward Aizen. Despite the motion, not a single drop spilled—an impressive demonstration of control and technique.

"Your aura is steady, and your internal energy flows smoothly. It seems you’ve broken through for some time now," Aizen said as he took the cup and drained it.

"I’m more curious about your current strength," Lilith teased, dimples appearing as she smiled.

Suddenly, her slender hand darted out from her black sleeve like a serpent, her five fingers trembling like a snake’s tongue, striking toward Aizen’s neck.

Her attack was ruthless; if her claws grabbed his neck and pulled even slightly, they would tear away a chunk of flesh along with his carotid artery.

Aizen didn’t move the hand holding his wine cup, but his left hand shot out with a single precise finger strike aimed at the Tiger’s Mouth acupoint on her hand.

The strike was sharp and experienced, devoid of hesitation.

Even without channeling internal energy into his Black Fiend Gloves, this single finger strike carried enough force to puncture a slab of green stone.

Lilith’s expression remained unchanged, but her aura became as deep and heavy as an abyss. She twisted her wrist, turning her snake-like hand into a horizontal strike aimed to avoid Aizen’s finger and counterattack.

But at that moment, Aizen flicked his fingers, creating a crisp "snap" in the air as the force of his motion disrupted the air around them.

His five fingers moved with the precision and strength of swords, forks, and spears, covering all possible paths of Lilith’s attack.

The move felt like a mountain pressing down or a violent storm brewing—heavy with latent danger.

This technique was one Aizen had developed himself after his foundational Sorcery skills advanced to the Second Level. It was inspired by the core techniques of the Mysterious Ice Divine Palm, Three Essence Divine Finger, and Heart-Tearing Claw.

Such techniques could only be created through an intricate Sorcery arts foundation. Sometimes they were born of inspiration during battle or through patient experimentation and practice.

Without the system’s aid in rapidly learning so many techniques, Aizen could never have achieved such depth.

This move wasn’t overwhelmingly powerful but was incredibly practical in combat situations.

As the saying went: Sorcery skills open the door; personal cultivation determines the path. Even the strongest technique’s effectiveness depended on the user.

Faced with Aizen’s strange, versatile move—a blend of palm, claw, and finger techniques—Lilith couldn’t find any weaknesses. Aizen easily caught her hand.

His thumb pressed directly on her TIger Mouth acupoint, immobilizing her.

Aizen released her hand without a trace of hesitation.

Lilith’s hand was strong and flexible, though slightly rough and calloused—a natural trait for a Sorcery artist.

However, if she were to break through to the innate realm, she could undergo the cleansing of the marrow and transform completely. At that point, not only would her calluses vanish, but even scars would fade, leaving her skin flawless.

"I didn’t expect such a big gap between our strengths," Lilith said, a hint of resignation in her voice. "I’ve heard you’ve made quite a name for yourself in the outer Clan—not only becoming a Gold List disciple but also defeating a powerful opponent. Your rank on the Gold List is quite high now."

Lilith clearly hadn’t yet heard that Aizen had become a Human Ranking expert. Even his status as a Gold List disciple left her feeling surprised.

Aizen stood up and paced the courtyard, his demeanor calm.

"The Gold List is nothing special. A month from now, during the Clan’s Grand Competition, you’ll be promoted to the outer Clan. After that, I’ll have you assigned to my side. There are things I’d rather entrust to you than to others."

"Assigned to your side? You already hold a position of real authority? Are you certain I can participate in the Grand Competition?"

Lilith was even more astonished.

She felt as though the young man who had been a lowly servant not so long ago had undergone an incredible transformation in just a month. His every movement now carried an air of authority, a natural charisma that inspired trust and deterred disrespect.

"Indeed," Aizen replied, his tone calm but confident. "I will soon take up a position in Great Plain City, overseeing the area on behalf of the Clan. I’ll have a certain amount of authority. In a month, you need only focus on competing in the Grand Competition. No one in the left faction will give you trouble or try to stop you."

His confidence was well-founded. He was now the top outer disciple of the Western Division.

While being too prominent could attract danger, the sect was currently in need of capable individuals. Aizen’s value was at its peak, and both the left and right factions would fully support and nurture him.

As the appointed representative of both factions in Great Plain City, his role required cooperation between the opposing sides. Despite their rivalry, they would have negotiated to ensure he received the necessary resources and assistance.

Promoting Lilith to his side was a small request. Even if Elder Rei objected due to personal interests, other elders, led by Elder Mustang, would likely back him up.

It wasn’t a difficult matter.

Aizen then orally recited the core verses of the Absorbing Star Technique for Lilith before leaving the mountain directly.

Lilith had great aptitude and natural talent for Sorcery arts. If trained properly, she could become a valuable ally in the future.

Previously, Aizen had refrained from teaching her the Absorbing Star Technique. His strength at the time was insufficient to protect himself from potential risks, and Lilith’s prior Bone Refining Stage limitations had rendered her ineligible to practice the technique.

Now that Lilith had broken through to the Blood Refining Stage, she could barely manage to train in the fourth-tier internal technique. Aizen no longer saw any reason to withhold it from her.

Although the Absorbing Star Technique was rare and powerful, it came with significant flaws. Aizen had already decided to seek a new internal technique for future cultivation.

His strength had grown immensely, and his perspective and ambitions had evolved accordingly.

In the past, when he was weaker, he had to conceal his cultivation of powerful techniques for fear of exposure.

Now, with his current strength, even post-heaven experts at the pinnacle Great Perfection Stage were unlikely to pose a threat. The potential exposure of the Absorbing Star Technique was no longer a concern—he had the power to intimidate any who might covet it.

As for whether Lilith might one day threaten him after mastering the Absorbing Star Technique, Aizen found the idea laughable.

With the system’s assistance, it was impossible for her to bridge the gap between them using just one technique. If she could, it would only mean Aizen himself was utterly incompetent.
