Transmigration To Magus World-Chapter 27: Effortless Gains
Life is a journey of constant pursuit.
A person without goals or ambition is incomplete.
Aizen was a complete person; he had aspirations and ambitions.
He also desired to become stronger.
Right now, the quickest way for him to grow stronger was by completing every task given by the system.
This wasn’t an over-reliance; it was making full use of everything beneficial to him.
Only those who knew how to leverage their resources could become truly powerful.
This time, the system granted Aizen’s wish and triggered a new task. However, the requirements for this task were extremely harsh, and the penalties were severe.
He had to become an outer sect disciple within a month. This was a daunting challenge; if it had been easy, someone like Leo wouldn’t have remained a black-clothed disciple for over three years without being promoted.
Leo only rose to prominence this past year. It was after more than a hundred powerful disciples from the previous year had advanced to the outer sect that he managed to squeeze into the top ten among the tens of thousands of black-clothed disciples. Originally, barring any accidents, he was set to be promoted to the outer sect this year. Unfortunately for him, he died unexpectedly at Aizen’s hands.
If the system had given Aizen more than two months, he could have waited until the upcoming Clan Grand Competition. At that time, advancing to the outer sect would have been straightforward and smooth.
But regrettably, the system only gave him one month. He couldn’t wait for the competition and would have to find another way to join the outer Clan.
Fortunately, there were some precedents for this in the Heavenly Demon Clan, and Aizen began planning in his mind.
"Aizen."
Lilith’s voice suddenly interrupted his thoughts. A fragrant breeze accompanied her approach, and she came near, holding some items in her hands.
Aizen’s gaze fell on one of them.
It was a manual, with three delicate characters inscribed on it, seemingly written by a woman: "Skylark Flight."
"A Sorcery technique manual for movement?" Aizen’s interest was piqued.
"Take it,"Lilith said, tossing the manual into Lilith’s hands.
The system immediately notified him:
"Skylark Flight (Eighth-level movement technique). Quick mastery requires consuming 500 mission activity points. Current points: 200.
Unable to quick-learn."
It was an eighth-level movement technique, not considered very high in grade but far superior to basic techniques, which explained why Leo’s agility and lightness skills were so exceptional.
Aizen was tempted, but with insufficient activity points, he couldn’t quickly learn it. He tossed the manual back to Lilith.
"You should learn it first."
He didn’t plan on painstakingly practicing the movement technique himself.
Advanced techniques weren’t like basic ones. To reach even an introductory level would require months of grueling effort. In that time, he could have increased his overall strength by several levels using other methods.
"My movement skills are already much better than yours. Are you sure you don’t want to learn it together?" Lilith asked, holding the manual, surprised by Aizen’s decision.
Aizen shook his head, saying nothing more.
He did want to learn a good movement technique. If his agility were better, he wouldn’t have to worry about enemies like Leo escaping. He could just unleash his power and kill them without having to show weakness or make complicated maneuvers.
But unfortunately, his activity points and time were both insufficient.
He felt a pang of regret that Leo didn’t have the manual for the "Triple Chain Sword" technique on him, though this was understandable.
The Triple Chain Sword technique was derived from the famous Chain Death Sword of the Heavenly Demon Clan, consisting of just one sword move. It was unlikely for a single move to be recorded in a manual. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
It was probably taught to Leo by some high-ranking figure within the sect.
"Well, if you don’t want to learn it now, that’s fine. But look at this."
Lilith put away the manual and smiled. Her beautiful eyes curved into crescent moons as she opened a silk pouch they had taken from Leo’s belongings. From it, she pulled out an object.
It was a shriveled herb resembling ginseng roots. When Aizen saw it, his eyes lit up.
"Spring Awakening Grass!"
To his surprise, Leo had kept a piece of Spring Awakening Grass, and this discovery thrilled Aizen.
"Here you go," Lilith said, placing the strange-looking herb back into the pouch and tossing it to Aizen.
This trip had turned out to be more fruitful than he expected.
Aizen’s main purpose was to find Spring Awakening Grass. If enemies tried to ambush him during his search, he planned to unleash his full power and secretly deal with them outside the city.
Now, two goals had been achieved in one go. It was truly a case of searching high and low only to find it effortlessly.
In high spirits, Aizen stashed the pouch in his robes.
The herb required a complicated method for use, which he decided to handle back at his place.
"So, what do we do now? Killing Leo won’t be the end of it. Some people from the left faction won’t let you off easily. If the person you killed didn’t have any connections, it’d be fine. But someone like Leo... killing him will surely cause a big uproar."
As she collected the items, Lilith also retrieved the throwing darts she had used to immobilize the three demonic beasts. While picking up the darts, she looked at Aizen, asking for his plan.
Her fearless nature made her supportive even though she knew trouble was brewing. When Aizen made a decision, she was always willing to stand by him.
It wasn’t that she wasn’t afraid of death; rather, she trusted that Aizen wouldn’t let her die. After all, he had saved her life.
When Aizen was still a menial laborer, Lilith had seen the ruthlessness and ambition hidden beneath his reserved demeanor.
If Aizen hadn’t taken the path of becoming a formidable figure, or if he hadn’t developed the strength he now had, even greater than Leo’s, she wouldn’t have blindly followed him as she did now.
In the end, only those with strength commanded respect.
Aizen not only had strength but also brains. He wasn’t one to recklessly court death or make shortsighted decisions.
Without answering Lilith immediately, Lilith seemed lost in thought. He walked over to the corpses and, as though flogging them, inflicted additional wounds from various angles to obscure the evidence of how they were killed.
Once finished, he raised his chin slightly and said, "It’s true that people with connections shouldn’t be killed carelessly. But if killing becomes unavoidable, you have to do it thoroughly. It’s time for Valentino to be of use. Keeping him alive means he should generate some value for me."
Lilith was puzzled. How could this situation be related to Valentino? Did he have the power to shield Aizen from the pressure coming from above? Would he plead for Aizen’s sake?
Valentino was nothing more than an insignificant figure to some of the left faction’s people. Even if those behind him intervened, it probably wouldn’t work, especially since Leo’s secret dealings were brutal. High-ranking figures with special preferences might genuinely wish Aizen dead.
"Let’s go. We’ll hide these bodies somewhere and head back."
A cold smile curled at Aizen’s lips.
In this valley, only Demon Mountain City was under the sect’s protective formation. Here, if you killed and disposed of bodies, who could prove anything without a recorded trace from the formation?
