Chapter 78: Chapter 78: The Traitor

The void trembled.

A surge of palm force, like a vast ocean, came crashing down.

Aizen’s palm strike was ferocious, swift, and ruthless.

Trager had anticipated that Aizen would react quickly, but he hadn’t expected Aizen’s speed to be this extraordinary.

Almost as soon as his blade struck, Aizen’s overwhelming palm force had already enveloped him.

This was entirely beyond his expectations, both in speed and power.

The massive palm strike seemed to consist of four distinct movements, yet it also felt like a single wave, overwhelming and unrelenting, aiming directly at his throat.

Despite initiating the attack, Trager now felt as though he were a tiny boat in the middle of a stormy sea, helpless against the towering waves.

"Clang!"

The sweeping blade was instantly repelled by the surging palm force, flying back violently.

Trager’s hands went numb, and his tiger’s mouth *the area between thumb and forefinger* split open, flesh and blood mangled by the sheer force of the strike.

However, amidst his pain, Trager realized something. He had seen through Aizen’s palm technique.

This wasn’t a chaotic flurry of strikes at all!

There was only one palm, but after deflecting his blade, it was aimed straight at his chest.

"Get lost!"

Trager reacted quickly, roaring as he drew his blade to block the incoming strike.

But in that instant, Aizen’s initial palm strike was followed by another. One palm resembled a tiger’s claw, while the other mimicked an eagle’s talon.

The White Tiger and Vermillion Bird of Four Symbols.

The eagle-like claw seized Trager’s blade, gripping it firmly in place.

The friction between the palm and the blade emitted a sharp screech.

At the same time, the tiger-like palm forcefully struck toward Trager’s chest.

What a vicious palm strike!

Trager was filled with terror. Just as the strike was about to land, he inhaled sharply.

This inhalation was so forceful that his chest collapsed inward by three inches, and his eyes bulged outward.

It was precisely these three inches that caused Aizen’s palm to miss its mark.

But at that moment, a shadow leapt out from the dense trees nearby, scattering a cloud of dry leaves.

Both Aizen and Trager were startled.

Before they could react, the shadow’s fist struck Trager squarely in the back.

"Boom!"

The sound of Aizen’s palm strike and the shadow’s fist landing on Trager’s body merged into a single, muffled explosion.

The chilling internal force of Aizen’s palm erupted like sharp blades, surging through Trager’s body.

At the same time, the shadow’s overwhelming fist force poured into Trager’s back.

Trager’s face twisted in horror, his bulging eyes popping out of their sockets from the combined force.

Assailed from both sides, he felt his internal organs violently quake as if torn apart by the chilling force. His spine snapped under the pressure.

"Pffft!"

A mouthful of dark red blood sprayed from Trager’s mouth like an arrow.

Due to his sharp inhalation earlier, the blood arrow was propelled with terrifying speed, aimed directly at Aizen’s face.

The attack was both fast and fierce.

Aizen’s expression shifted slightly. He quickly retreated, waving his hand to shield his face.

He barely managed to block the blood arrow, but the impact left his hand numb.

Some stray droplets of blood pierced through his defenses, splattering on his face. Even through the human-skin mask he wore, the skin beneath burned with sharp pain.

This blood was imbued with internal energy and launched with incredible force, making it exceedingly lethal.

Had Aizen not retreated or blocked it, his face would have been severely disfigured.

"Thud!"

Trager’s body fell backward onto the ground. His eyes, still attached by strands of flesh, dangled grotesquely from his face as blood gushed from the empty sockets.

The shadow that had emerged earlier stepped aside, revealing a figure with long, braided hair. Half of their face was obscured by messy locks, but the visible side was as smooth and refined as jade.

It was Ghost-Faced Man Raider.

Just as one wave calmed, another arose.

Aizen’s face paled slightly, his internal energy severely depleted.

The foreign energy within his meridians began to surge and churn, causing him sharp pain.

These unrefined energies were difficult to control. While they could temporarily enhance his strength, they also posed significant risks.

If Aizen overexerted himself, he might lose the ability to suppress these energies, drastically weakening his combat effectiveness.

This was precisely why Aizen was cautious in using the Star Absorption Technique. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

He preferred to absorb energy slowly, refining and assimilating it bit by bit, rather than recklessly drawing in power.

Though his current condition wasn’t ideal, the foreign energy had been partially expended and remained barely manageable.

Aizen fixed a cold, steady gaze on Raider , saying nothing. Around them, the merchants and Magus wanderers had already fled far away.

"Trager struck first, so I had to kill him. However, he ended up dying at your hands," Raider said, staring deeply at Aizen. His gaze shifted to the sword on Aizen’s back, dispelling some of the thoughts in his mind.

Aizen’s strength was simply too great, as Raider had just observed with confidence.

The punch Raider had delivered to Trager’s back was partly a test.

Yet, as soon as the punch landed, a chilling force from Aizen’s palm strike surged into his own fist, forcing him to withdraw immediately.

This unintended clash left Raider’s arm riddled with icy energy, wreaking havoc within his meridians.

Aizen’s palm technique was truly fearsome.

Moreover, the sword on Aizen’s back hadn’t even been unsheathed. Who knew how many hidden techniques he still had?

Raider decided not to take unnecessary risks.

"Were you sent here by Viggo as well?"

Aizen’s eyes flickered as he spoke, his mind still piecing together the situation.

**"I know what you’re thinking. Yes, Trager was a traitor. He intentionally lured Georgie and Nero here.

By killing them, he could divert suspicion from himself.

Then, he planned to kill you, not only taking all the credit but also solidifying his position within the Clan. Perhaps he even hoped to gain some benefits from you."**

Raider smiled faintly.

Aizen listened without revealing his thoughts.

While it was plausible that Trager was a traitor, it was equally possible that Raider was the real spy.

Aizen was certain of one thing: he hadn’t done anything to lure Georgie and Nero to this location.

Their arrival could have been orchestrated by Trager, Raider, or even a righteous faction’s spy planted within the Demonic Clan.

The fact that Georgie and Nero had targeted him so precisely indicated that they had received detailed information about his identity—just as Aizen had received intel from Viggo about targeting them.

It was evident that Viggo hadn’t sent Aizen here alone. He had also sent Trager and Raider, carefully staggering their arrival times.

By instructing Aizen to travel on foot, Viggo ensured that he would be the last to arrive.
