Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Angry Ex-Fiancé

Victoria widened her eyes at the figure of her ex-fiancé who suddenly came to her even though she didn’t call him. She immediately suspected the perpetrator was Jennifer who deliberately invited Ansel to lunch together.

Remembering the incident at the pool, Victoria did not dare to raise her head openly. Because she was confused about what to say to her ex-fiancé. If she were Ansel, she would be even more hurt if she kept remembering the forbidden scene. Moreover, she invited Ansel to provoke Matthias, but the result was the opposite.

"Were you the one who called Ansel, Jennifer?"

"Yes, I called him. Why?" Jennifer replied innocently.

"But, I don’t want to bother Ansel."

Ansel’s eyebrows raised. "Do you not want to bother me or are you still awkward with me?"

Hearing Ansel’s unusual tone of voice made Jennifer even more awkward. She grabbed her sling bag in a hurry because she suspected something had happened to the couple.

"By the way, I have some work to do. You guys should just continue your conversation."

"Jennifer, aren’t we–"

Before she could finish her sentence, Jennifer immediately walked quickly out of the restaurant. Meanwhile, now only she and her ex-fiancé were left. The atmosphere was getting more awkward because she was still afraid to face her ex-fiancé. She had betrayed her own ex-fiancé openly, would her ex-fiancé forgive her? Especially if her ex-fiancé saw her taking a shower with another man, she was sure that their relationship was now beyond help.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Ansel asked coldly.

"Sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you at that time."

Ansel laughed awkwardly while folding his arms. "Oh, the thing at the pool, I actually forgot about it. I already thought that I was actually not worthy of being your husband."

"Ansel, actually–"

"All this time you always refused to kiss me. But when it was Matthias’ turn, you never refused. I saw that you really enjoyed your kiss."

"That’s because I’ve lost my mind."

"No, I think you seem to love him so much that you think the world belongs to you." Ansel looked away haughtily. "But that doesn’t mean I hate you. Even after reading the news about you, I got angry. I felt like beating up Matthias because he failed to protect you."

"Ansel, actually Matthias is also a victim of this problem. You shouldn’t blame him too."

Ansel laughed in annoyance as he loosened his tie. "He’s not a victim in my opinion. Because he was too soft-hearted, he ended up being bullied and letting others control his life."

"No. He’s not that type of guy."

"How do you know him when you’ve only been married for a month? I’ve known him for years, so I can’t let him torture you! He seduced you so that you would fall into his game!"

"If you want to meet me now just because you want to slander him, I want us to end our discussion now."

"Aren’t you also hating him now because he’s the one who destroyed you?"

"No, I can’t hate him even if all these problems are related to him."

Ansel frowned. "Maybe now you truly love him!"

This is what makes Victoria even more confused about what’s in her heart. Is it true that she has truly loved Matthias? Why does she always want to get angry every time someone slanders Matthias?

"I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have acted like this in front of you." Ansel lowered his eyebrows.

"It’s okay. It’s natural for you to overreact like this since you’re my ex-fiancé."

"Now I want to help you think of a way to get rid of all these problems. I have asked some of my top reporters to delete all the bad articles on the internet, but it seems very difficult because the real culprit has the power to control all social media."

"It’s okay. It’s going to be difficult to solve. But I appreciate all your good intentions. Thank you for helping me."

"Matthias should have been the one to solve all these problems, but I was the one who stepped in to help him. He really can’t be relied on."

"Maybe this problem is difficult to solve, he is also trying to solve it. I trust him."

"By the way, are you busy tomorrow?"

Victoria shook her head slowly. "No. Why?"

"Tomorrow afternoon and evening I want to ask you out on a date. It is true that dating in the current situation is not possible. But, tomorrow is your birthday."

That’s right. Even Victoria almost forgot her own birthday. She had never remembered about birthdays since she had an accident two years ago. Because she had an accident two years ago, she felt like time had stopped. The only person who remembered her birthday the most was Ansel. She was sure Matthias wouldn’t remember it because they were only in a contractual marriage. Besides, she had never told Matthias about this. She didn’t expect to be able to celebrate her birthday with Matthias.

"I’m not busy tomorrow. Of course I want to celebrate my birthday with you."

Ansel’s reaction widened his smile and then hugged his ex-fiancée’s body tightly. "I’m sorry, Victoria. I shouldn’t have hurt your feelings earlier."

"Now I’ve forgotten everything. I can’t wait to celebrate my birthday with you."

"By the way, does Matthias know your birthday?"

"No. I never told him about this. Besides, I didn’t expect to celebrate it with him."

*****

It was getting late in the day, Matthias smiled happily as he looked at the clock that kept moving. He didn’t care that his assistant would come to him now to report his work to him. He just couldn’t wait for tonight.

"I can’t wait to go on a date with you, my wife. Even if you end up refusing to go on a date with me, I have no right to scold you."

Actually, his heart began to feel restless. If his wife did not come to him tonight, did he have the right to hate his wife because of this small matter?
