Trapped in the Beastworld Breeder System (BL)-Chapter 56: Inedible Meals
The mention of the word "hungry" made Aries’ stomach, which had been dormant for so long, suddenly grumble. He looked up just in time to see Lucien raise his hands. Lucien clapped once, then twice, and then three times in a row. Almost immediately, the sound of approaching footsteps could be heard outside the room.
Aries remained confused as this happened. Moments later, the door opened, revealing several ladies dressed in flowing gowns of the same material and color, each carrying trays in their hands.
On one tray lay meat glistening with oil, another held vegetables, then what appeared to be rice, and finally a jug of water. Aries looked from the trays to Lucien, uncertainty clear on his face, as he wasn’t sure what all of this was meant for.
Lucien met his gaze and gestured lightly toward the maids. "So, I brought food for you."
He moved closer to Aries and sat at the edge of the bed. Instinctively, Aries shifted backward, as though trying to sink into the bedframe to avoid him. Lucien noticed and smiled at the effort before speaking again.
"You might not know this," Lucien began, "but while I was in the Tiger Kingdom, I heard a title associated with you."
"A title about me?" Aries’ brows arched in surprise, curiosity sparking instantly—especially when food was involved.
He already had an idea of what it might imply. Perhaps whatever poison he feared before him would turn out to be something worth tasting after all.
"Culinary God," Lucien said. "That’s what you were called. And as we both know, you were even summoned by the Tiger King himself. Anyway, I managed to gather a few details about how you prepared meals back then, and I learned that you..."
He gestured toward the maid holding the meat. "You prefer your meat dipped in plain oil, heated properly, and coated with what you call salt."
"And the rice," he continued, motioning to the next tray, "is meant to be cooked plain, accompanied by vegetables. So I thought you should taste it. It was prepared specifically to suit your preferences."
Aries stared at Lucien, genuinely moved. "I almost thought this was just how you all cooked your food, and I was happy enough with that. But knowing you intentionally did this for me..." He smiled softly. "You went out of your way just to please me with this food. That’s really kind. Thank you."
Lucien leaned closer, and Aries’ eyes widened in surprise. Before he could react, Lucien pecked him lightly on the lips and then retreated, resting back against the table and chair as he watched Aries’ reaction.
Aries stared after him, fingers lifting to touch his lips as he sighed softly. It wasn’t difficult to understand Lucien’s actions after all, to him, Aries was his mate.
After brooding over it for a few seconds, his fingers still brushing his lips, Aries finally shifted his attention to the trays. He examined the meat and then the rice—especially the rice.
The meat looked overly soaked in oil, but the rice was worse. Just from looking at it, it appeared overly soft, almost like pudding. Aries sighed and picked up the spoon placed neatly on the tray.
"Here we go," he muttered.
He scooped a spoonful of rice, brought it close to his nose, and sniffed it. It smelled tolerable. Carefully, he placed it into his mouth.
Instantly, color rushed to Aries’ face as he spat the contents straight into his palm.
His expression twisted in annoyance and disgust. "I knew it. This was a bad idea. What did you do to the rice?"
Lucien, who had been observing from across the room, hurried forward, shock evident on his face. "What went wrong?" he asked. "Why did you spit it out like that?"
"Oh, I didn’t know I was supposed to be gentle with it," Aries replied dryly, clearly frustrated. "The rice is filled with salt and it’s way too soft. It irritates my mouth and makes me want to vomit. The salt practically scalded my tongue."
"Oh... is it that bad?" Lucien asked hesitantly.
"You can taste it yourself," Aries offered.
"No, I’ll pass," Lucien said quickly, and Aries couldn’t help but laugh.
"So what do we do now?" Lucien asked. "Will you try the meat? I was also unsure about the rice while they were making it, but I supervised the meat personally. It should be fine."
"Hmmm..." Aries sighed, arms crossing as he eyed the meat.
"I won’t die," he muttered, cutting off a piece and placing it into his mouth.
Almost immediately, he spat it out.
First, it was far too salty so much that Aries began to suspect the maids had dumped all the salt in at once. Second, it was dried and underdone, something he absolutely disliked. He preferred his meat fully fried and thoroughly cooked. The result was disastrous.
In the end, Aries requested fruits, which were promptly brought to him.
Too weak to prepare his own meals, he had no choice but to make do. As he bit into an apple, Lucien spoke softly.
"I’m really sorry about this. It’s terrible that the only thing you can eat after waking up is fruit."
"Don’t worry," Aries replied. "It’s not your fault I can’t eat beast food like you all do. I’ll cook for myself once I’m strong enough."
"Hmmm..." Lucien hummed thoughtfully. "How about this instead? You give me the exact measurements and instructions, and I’ll have the maids practice making your meals properly."
"No," Aries said quickly. "I don’t want to stress the maids."
"I’m sure they’d be delighted to learn from you," Lucien insisted. "Just write it down, and I’ll pass it along."
In the end, Aries couldn’t resist him.
He wrote out the exact ingredients and measurements for every dish that had been brought that day. He even added proper instructions for porridge that would actually be edible instead of the nonsense they had made, along with several other meal guidelines.
