Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer-Chapter 657 - 302: Area Information Disclosure
The night sky, studded with dazzling stars and strange celestial bodies, was swiftly torn open like a curtain.
The blue sky, white clouds, and the ever-hanging sun in the heavens revealed themselves once more.
The residents who had been walking on the street had already raised their hands to shield their eyes the instant the sky brightened.
They tried to avoid being dazzled by the sun, abruptly exposed in the suddenly bright sky.
They were long used to the sky shifting suddenly from black to white.
From night into day.
Some of the affairs and behaviors on the Island also became more restrained.
Daylight would hold back evil.
A man wearing a brown flat cap and clad in a grayish-blue fitted adventurer's suit was walking down the street.
Pale golden hair hung beneath the brim of his hat, with a slight wave to it.
He arrived at a tavern not far from the port and slipped past a staggering drunkard rushing out from inside.
He braced the creaking wooden door and went inside.
Glancing around, he saw that there weren't many patrons left in the tavern; those who remained were mostly drunk, mumbling incoherently at various volumes.
Only then did Jason nod with satisfaction.
He found the same seat he'd used a few days ago and sat down.
Not long after, a tavern attendant approached—the same bartender who had given Jason information last time.
"Mr. Jason? Why are you here again so early? The sky's just lit up—would you like something to drink?"
"I ate a bit much this morning. How about a light fruit wine?" Jason considered, then replied.
The attendant nodded, bowing slightly. "Just a moment."
With that, he walked toward the bar where the drinks were kept.
A middle-aged man at the bar was pouring drinks. He glanced at Jason, seated in the distant corner, and at the approaching attendant.
With some envy, he said, "That generous outsider is back to give you more money?"
"Rather than giving money, I'd say seeking help fits better. One Blue Ocean Chiller, please."
Watching the barkeep begin mixing a drink, the words still tumbling out of his mouth: "Right, right, help deserves payment—I get it."
The attendant leaned against the edge of a nearby wooden pillar and said, "Besides, this guy is probably connected with the Holy Mother Church.
Raphael said he saw this man and two other outsiders being personally received and escorted in by the priest."
At these words, the middle-aged bartender nodded, falling silent and ceasing his banter.
Clearly, however things stood, this person deserved added respect.
After a moment, carrying the mixed drink, the attendant sat down beside Jason's table.
He handed the drink over.
"So sir, what are you looking to know this time? I'll hold nothing back."
Jason took a sip of the drink. The chill and clarity seeped right into his bones.
"Ahh… this drink is really good."
Afterward, he finally looked at the attendant and said, "Anres, tell me—do you know of the 'Sea of Moisture'?"
At this, the young attendant named Anres looked at Jason curiously.
"Sir, I should warn you: Compared to the dangers of the Sea of Moisture and the difficulty of getting there, chasing after the so-called Nafasi Clan's treasure is not worth it."
This piqued Jason's interest. He straightened up, asking, "Oh? And why is that?"
"Many have come seeking that Mage Clan's treasure; I've seen plenty since I was a child. Many believe they hid the treasure in the Sea of Moisture.
But when weighing the dangers of that sea and its hidden secrets against the Nafasi Clan's treasure, the family's hoard simply isn't worth mentioning."
Jason nodded at these words.
So—the Sea of Moisture was both perilous and filled with riches.
Compared to that, the Nafasi Clan's treasure had no real allure at all.
Or rather, it was meaningless.
"No, we've simply given up on that so-called family treasure. We're far more interested in that dangerous sea."
"Hmm, sounds like you've come from rather far away."
After all, the legends of the Sea of Moisture were recorded on the nearby Landmark Islands.
"Alright then, I'll tell you what I know. But, as you know, I've never left the Gemini Island chain in my life.
So it's all just hearsay. Hope you're prepared for that."
"Oh, of course. Just say what you know." Jason nodded unconcernedly.
"The Sea of Moisture is said to be a sea vaster than even the waters around a whole Landmark Island and its archipelago.
When it appears, everything before you will be blocked by that sea.
It's also called the oceanic land... Well, 'land' here means an island as big as a sea—have you heard that phrase before? Rumor is, such islands once existed."
Anres pondered before asking.
Jason nodded; he'd heard similar explanations from Alka aboard the ship.
An island as large as a sea—called 'land.'
"You really are well-read, sir." After a brief compliment, Anres continued, "An area like a swamp covered what was once ocean. The islands of the past were the safe havens on top of this swamp region."
"Wait." Jason hurriedly interrupted.
"An ocean like a swamp? What do you mean?"
Those words visibly troubled Anres. He frowned, stretching out a hand to rub his brow as he struggled for a way to explain it.
"I'm not sure how to put it. Let me share how other guests have described it. Plenty of sailors and merchants have passed through that region."
Jason nodded in response.
