Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer-Chapter 683 - 310: Inconsistent Inside and Out_3
In Madru's eyes, these monsters seemed possessed.
Alka's appearance had completely changed. He wore a deer-headed mask, looking like some bizarre creature, and said, "Hmm, it seems these half-alive, half-dead undead creatures still have souls."
The moment the enemy was restrained, three figures charged forward.
Leading the charge was Chadite. She had transformed into a stream of light, moving at astonishing speed.
In the blink of an eye for Madru and the others, she had already reached the side of the monstrous leader.
When she reappeared, her leg was already pressed against the creature's head.
The instant everyone saw her leg touch the enemy's head, Chadite vanished once more.
Yet the enemy remained in place.
BANG!
The monster's enormous head completely caved in; half of its face was entirely shattered. Splinters of branches and ancient residue flew out.
Its entire body tipped over, nearly knocking down a nearby monster.
The colossal creature on the ground didn't seem entirely dead; it was still struggling. The plants and vines on its body began to creep upwards, twining and attempting to fill in and repair the massive damage to its head. This was clearly visible.
The attack had penetrated deep inside, exploding from within. The monster's protective, plant-based hide had completely failed to serve its intended purpose.
The fallen monster had no time to recover, and Chadite didn't press the attack.
An orange-red, fist-sized orb had already flown beside it.
The orb instantly enlarged to the size of a normal head. It opened its enormous mouth, which occupied half the orb, and began devouring rapidly with sharp teeth.
Its gnawing speed was astonishing; it didn't need to chew at all. It was impossible to tell where all the devoured objects went inside its body.
From a distance, Juanlu's complexion gradually became rosy and vibrant.
Seeing a teammate helping to deliver the finishing blow, the beam of light that was Chadite ricocheted wildly among the enemy ranks. Each time she flickered and reappeared, an enemy was struck.
These smaller monsters weren't as fortunate as their gigantic leader. Under Chadite's powerful attacks, they were left either dead or grievously wounded.
It was a highly penetrating technique that concentrated power on a single point. At the moment of impact, it pierced the enemy's body and then exploded from within. This was especially effective against enemies with strong external defenses.
This was one of the techniques Chadite had learned in the Tower of Trial. Paired with her extreme speed, it proved incredibly effective.
By the time Chadite had killed three or four monsters, the Crystal Dragon finally arrived.
A breath from its mouth transformed into a rainbow beam, sweeping rapidly across the area. Its first target was another giant, gorilla-like monster. The moment the breath hit it, the monster froze as if encased in crystal.
The breath didn't stop, continuing in a straight line as the Crystal Dragon flew. The monsters in its path were struck one after another, successively sealed in crystal.
The number of enemies it cleared in an instant almost matched Chadite's tally.
Seeing that the others were about to clear out all the enemies, Pororo leaped into action. The water beneath him surged, propelling Pororo through the air in an arc and sending him smashing into the enemy ranks.
A dense web of lightning patterns began to spread from his body. A chilling wind, reminiscent of winter, swirled around him. Pale gray lightning bolts furiously intertwined, darting among the enemies.
Under the onslaught of the violent lightning, the enemies dissipated like ashes into the air.
The entire process was seamless, taking less than half a minute. Then, with the others joining in, the enemies were completely cleared out. And none of Alka's group were injured.
Alka looked at the corpses and said with a laugh, "It seems we've discovered their weakness. But who knows if it applies to other monsters from the Life and Death Boundary?"
Even after being completely wiped out, these corpses remained under the mental control of his Dream Energy, still trapped in an illusion.
It was too easy.
Especially those monsters that had reached the Third Stage; their mental strength was feeble compared to Chadite and the others.
Meanwhile, the two small teams organized by the Puppet Girls had already begun collecting seemingly useful tissues from the corpses. These two teams were Chi, which used the Curse Technique, and Wu, responsible for logistics and mechanical construction. Using various tools and the effects of Spells, they cleaned up the battlefield.
Madru and the others stood blankly in place, watching Alka and his group's actions. The entire engagement, including cleanup, took approximately one minute. Not only were the enemies eliminated, but even the battlefield was cleared.
Jason walked over and patted Madru on the shoulder. "Still daydreaming? Don't you want to get moving?"
"Ah, yes, we're moving right away!" Madru snapped back to reality and immediately called to his people, urging them to organize the team. They quickly pressed forward.
The people in the transport convoy up ahead occasionally shot various furtive glances at Alka and his companions. Madru did the same. It was clear that their attitude had become more respectful.
"You think we're impressive, don't you?" Jason asked with a grin.
Madru nodded repeatedly. "Yes, sir! If it weren't for all of you, we would have died here today."
This was followed by a round of thanks and polite conversation.
The strength Alka and the others displayed was completely different from Madru's impression of Third Stage experts.
It was somewhat outrageous.
Alka and his group followed behind, their attention entirely on the spoils collected from the monsters. Although they had encountered similar monsters at sea before, that was, after all, at sea. Besides, they had been too far away, so they hadn't managed to collect most things.
"This material should be very precious; it's intertwined with life and death. If it could be activated and used in medicine..." Matilda couldn't help but muse aloud, looking at the core in her hand, which had been extracted from the giant gorilla's body.
Out of the three massive monsters, only two had contained such a core.
It must be quite rare, she thought.
Matilda carefully stored them in a specially made bottle, preserving them well. Medicine made from this would surely be able to treat many intractable illnesses. Especially in a sudden life-or-death crisis, it could preserve one's last breath, buying time and offering a chance for treatment. Materials with this lingering intertwining of life and death were the easiest way to achieve such an effect.
I'm just not sure how effective it would be, Matilda pondered. One core definitely isn't enough; more will be needed for a significant improvement.
In Matilda's eyes, the value of these monsters had increased.
By now, Juanlu had collapsed onto the ship. His three orbs had helped him feast gluttonously, leading to an overaccumulation of Energy in Juanlu's body. He now had some indigestion and needed to rest for a while.
As for Alka and Simon, they were searching for useful items among a pile of bones rich in vitality. These things were too strange; they didn't immediately know how to use them.
Bones rich in life...
Truly peculiar Spell Materials, they thought. They just didn't know in what way this rare material should be used to bring out its special properties. But at least it was rare. Even if they just sold it, it would fetch a decent price.
