Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer-Chapter 682 - 310: Inconsistent Inside and Out_2
"Are we almost there?" Jason asked doubtfully from beside him. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
It seemed so from what Madru had said. Madru nodded.
"That's good. I thought we might really get attacked halfway through," Jason said with a smile.
His words had barely left his lips when the distant gray-black mist to the side began to sway eerily.
Ripples spread across the water's surface.
"Enemy attack! Those monsters are here!" Simon, flying in the air, shouted loudly.
Hearing this, Madru immediately took control of the group and organized a defense. "Quick, protect these goods!"
Alka and the others also quickly readied themselves.
Jason silently returned to his own group.
The Crystal Dragon that had been following them descended from the sky, its wings beating, and landed in the water.
Spray splashed high on either side.
However, Madru and his men weren't surprised at all. They had been sailing together for several days and had seen this dragon many times.
Indeed, the Crystal Dragon seemed to have grown a little bit bigger.
Ulu Liwus tilted her head, looking at Jason. His expression seemed a bit strange to her.
"Buji?"
"What? What am I doing? Okay, let's not talk about this now. The enemy is coming, stay alert."
Jason answered the Crystal Dragon's question dismissively, waving his hand to change the subject. He then focused intently on the path ahead.
"Twenty-six monsters! Three of them are massive!"
As Simon spoke, he soared higher. Alka then tossed him a pair of glasses.
He put them on and could immediately see the approaching monsters and gauge their power levels.
"Be careful! There are eleven Third Stage monsters! The rest are around Second Stage Perfection!"
Upon hearing this, Madru's face turned ashen.
He didn't know how Alka and the others had discovered the enemies' strength, but outsiders possessed all sorts of methods. He wasn't surprised by that. What terrified him were the enemies' numbers and strength. He knew they were utterly incapable of handling such a force. The men escorting the goods were all militia. Their methods of attack were very limited, not to mention their overall strength was still very weak. None of them surpassed the Third Stage.
"It's over... We're done for. If only we'd arrived a bit earlier, just a little bit. Flower Fairy above, please bless us!"
Madru almost sank to his knees in the water, the splashing seawater drenching him. He seemed to have completely abandoned resistance.
Despair was etched onto his face.
The few militiamen behind him felt the same.
They knew their own capabilities very well. If what Alka and the others said was true, then they were as good as dead.
Alka's group, on the other hand, collectively breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing the enemy's numbers and strength.
Such a small number, and with strength like that? They were hardly a threat.
After all, they had brought an entire Puppet Knight Order. Lucilia's strength hadn't yet reached Alka's level of 21 Spirals, but she had achieved 17 Spirals. The Puppet Knight Order, modeled on her power and scaling down, had long since reached the Third Stage, though they were all at Eleven Spirals. The higher the master's strength, the proportionally weaker the power feedback became for the Puppet Legion. Under these circumstances, the enemy's numbers and strength could hardly affect them.
As the enemies charged, their forms finally became clear.
The three leading monsters were massive, approximately four meters tall. Although humanoid, these three had large upper bodies and disproportionately small lower bodies. Their proportions were similar to gorillas, and their stout arms left no doubt as to their destructive power.
Green vines were wrapped around these monsters, and they were covered with moss-like plants. They held wooden clubs in their hands.
But no one would underestimate these clubs. The vines entwined on them writhed like tentacles and bristled with sharp spikes.
Trailing behind them was a large pack of wolf-like creatures, likewise entwined with vines and covered in plant-like skin.
Anyone unfamiliar with the situation might mistake these monsters for some kind of natural Guardians rather than undead creatures.
"Let's make this quick," Alka said. "If these monsters keep coming endlessly, it'll be very troublesome. After we clear them out, let's head to the mudlands quickly. It should be much safer there."
The black fog continued to sway. Although Simon hadn't detected any more monsters emerging, it was best to be cautious.
Hearing Alka's words, everyone nodded.
A pink, cloud-like mist immediately surged forward like a tide.
Alka looked at the three leading gorilla-like monsters and initially considered using his close-combat mode. However, after a moment's thought, the Mirror Surface in his hand transformed into the shape of a deer's head, which he then wore on his face. This was no time for leisure.
Sparkling points of light, like reflections from shattered mirror shards, swirled forward with the mist.
In an instant, they enveloped all the attacking monsters.
"Wh-what... What's happening?" Madru stared at the scene, utterly astonished.
He kept turning his head, looking from Alka back to where the monsters were.
The pink mist had completely enveloped the monsters, and they had stopped charging. Instead, they began to circle in place, running in frantic spirals as if chasing something. They occasionally roared and swung their arms as if attacking.
