Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer-Chapter 717 - 322 Orange Information
In the Dream World of the Land of Fragrance.
Layers upon layers of bubbles floated in this dream world. Unlike other dream worlds, a faint floral scent drifted here. The floral scent was incongruous with the dream world. A gigantic flower that reached the sky bloomed here. Its roots extended downwards, connecting deep below the Dream World and reaching unfathomable depths. The opened giant flower emitted a faint luminescence. It stood out vividly in this dream world, so strikingly that it seemed an otherworldly presence.
Beside this flower, many dream-like mist creatures hovered; only these mist creatures were able to linger nearby. Neither creatures of light nor shadow dared to approach.
In the heart of this immense, blooming flower lay a charming, beautiful maiden, sleeping as soundly as an infant. Some unknown disturbance awakened her. Her lashes, emitting a faint glow, fluttered gently. Her pale pink eyes reflected the pattern of a flower within their pupils. Those eyes were captivating.
She gently rose, propping herself with her jade-like arms on the flower stamen that formed her bed. Her graceful, alluring figure was fully revealed. Her eyes gazed into an unknown direction. She pondered for a moment, sensed something, and then seemed to confirm it.
A floating gold-and-silver petal flew from her palm, shrinking as it moved before merging into a nearby Dream Bubble.
After doing this, she lay back down and once again fell into a deep sleep.
...
Is it the system? Alka vaguely perceived a trace of something else within his body. Instinctively, he thought of the Treasure Hunting System. This was mainly because the way it manifested seemed so much like a Treasure; it was hard for Alka not to think in this direction. Moreover, he already knew his origin and the complete process of his arrival in this world. He suspected that this Treasure Hunting System was either some sort of Treasure or a kind of Divine Essence transformed into a special Treasure by his will.
Breaking off these thoughts, Alka began to carefully feel the changes in himself after reaching the Fifth Stage of power in the Dream Realm. Firstly, he could clearly sense his connection with reality. The separation still existed, but his identity as a Divine Descendant tenaciously kept the two linked. As long as Alka did not further enhance his power in the Dream Realm, the connection would remain. But this was already the limit, and Alka couldn’t perform any actions that would further separate him from reality. His Fifth Stage power also slowed the natural rate at which his strength increased within his dreams. He just needed to enter the Dream Realm daily, or every few days, to disperse his accumulated power.
With his power reaching the Fifth Stage, Alka also roughly understood the nature of Treasures at the [Holy Grail] level. By simulating Mirmi with the Mirror Surface to connect worlds, Alka had become half a Natural Essence. Then he could comprehend: the essence of a [Holy Grail] level Treasure was Divine Essence.
Through previous conversations and inquiries with instructors in the Tower of Trial, they had learned that in ancient times, and 30,000 years ago when deities walked the world, ordinary mortals—this term included all life without Divine Essence—were almost all subordinates of those possessing Divine Essence, or vassals to those higher life forms. Most manifestations of this subordination revolved around faith. To gain power, one had to worship others or have faith in powerful beings, even if these beings were mad, chaotic, or held concepts completely at odds with one’s own. This was similar to the current situation: to become a seeker, one had to touch Treasures to gain enlightenment.
Even though the world had fragmented, this was paradoxically a blessing for ordinary mortals, because those inherently extraordinary divine beings who had once lorded over them had either died or fled. Leaving behind only the Four Gods who truly still cherished them in this world. And even their stance remained one of ’take it or leave it,’ without oppressive demands.
And what was called Divine Essence was an aspect that had separated from the world of the past. Because all divine beings were either among the first life forms birthed by the world or their blood descendants. Essentially, they were not much different from Natural Essences. However, they were the earliest, the firstborn. Naturally separated, they inherently possessed certain abilities of the world. These abilities manifested as Divine Essence, or took the forms displayed by Treasures, representing the Rules within the natural world.
Understanding these matters seems to be of little use right now, but it’s better than ignorance. However, understanding its essence allowed for a shift in power from the control of the Fourth Stage to the ability to alter Treasures.
For instance, previously Alka had completely mastered the Mirror. This allowed him to directly modify mimicked objects by altering the mask itself and attaching them to him. This helped avoid excessively absurd transformations, like suddenly growing a deer head or something similar. Instead, the worn mask changed little, yet he could more easily accept the simulated powers.
Now, Alka skipped the mask altogether. Post-simulation, the Mirror Surface only caused minor characteristic changes in his appearance—a necessary process. For example, the highly characteristic digitigrade legs and deer hooves had both vanished. Only his current antlers and the subtle patterns on his face remained. This was one of the necessary features.
