Triple X System-Chapter 259: Preparations
Snow’s voice was like a gentle breeze in Kyle’s mind, teasing him with a sly grin. [So, Kyle, how’s things going with Elara?]
Kyle’s response was immediate, a firm denial. "There’s nothing going on with Elara, Snow. Don’t even go there."
Snow’s laughter was like a soft chuckle in his mind. [Oh, come on, Kyle. I can sense the tension between you two. It’s like a palpable thing.]
Kyle shook his head, dismissing the idea. "His attention shifted to the duo sitted on the bed. What’s the update on Lumia kingdom?"
Lucias and Layla exchanged a glance, their expressions downcast. "It’s not good, Kyle," Lucias said, his voice low. "We’ve lost connection with Lumia kingdom and King Troy. We don’t know what’s happening there."
Layla’s eyes were red-rimmed, her voice trembling. "We lost some good people, Kyle. We can’t just...we can’t just leave them behind."
Kyle’s expression was grim, his eyes narrowing. "We’ll get back to them, Layla. I promise."
Just then, Elara walked into the room, a silver tray floating in the air behind her. She placed it on a round wooden table, her eyes sparkling with warmth. "Please, everyone, eat and replenish your strength. You need it."
Lucias and Layla shook their heads, but Elara’s expression was firm. "You need to eat, and it’s not wise to refuse food on Kraken. Normal food isn’t farmed or located here. Only the toughest of the tough, or something that wants you dead."
Kyle’s eyes narrowed, his mind racing. ’Snow, can you scan the food?’
Snow’s response was immediate. [It’s safe, Kyle. I detect no toxins or poisons.]
Kyle nodded, picking up a piece of the food. It was delicious, savory and sweet all at once. "What’s the origin of this food?" he asked Elara.
Elara’s smile was calm, her eyes glimmering with amusement. "A work of magic, Kyle. Nothing more."
As they ate, Elara stood up, her eyes fixed on Lucias and Layla. She stared at their stomachs, her gaze intense, and Kyle saw a soft blue glow located in their guts.
"What is that?" Kyle asked, his voice low.
Elara’s expression was thoughtful, her eyes narrowing. "The Luminaria plant is still working its magic. The blue glow is a sign that it’s repairing the damage done by the Krael’s poison."
Lucias and Layla exchanged a glance, their eyes wide with wonder. "It’s working?" Layla asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Elara nodded, her smile warm. "Yes, it’s working. You’ll be back to normal in no time."
As Elara spoke, the blue glow grew brighter, spreading throughout Lucias and Layla’s bodies. Kyle watched, mesmerized, as the light pulsed and shimmered, healing the damage done by the Krael’s poison.
The room was silent, the only sound the soft hum of the blue glow. Kyle’s eyes were fixed on Elara, his mind racing with questions. What was she hiding? What was the true extent of her magic?
Elara’s eyes met his, a spark of amusement dancing in their depths. She knew he was watching her, and she didn’t seem to mind.
The moment stretched out, the tension between them palpable. Kyle’s shadows stirred, sensing the tension, and Elara’s eyes flickered to them, a hint of a smile on her lips.
Suddenly, the moment was broken, as Lucias and Layla began to stir, their eyes fluttering open. The blue glow faded, leaving behind a warm, golden light.
Elara’s smile was warm, her eyes sparkling with satisfaction. "Welcome back, you two. You’re going to be just fine."
As Lucias and Layla sat up, rubbing their eyes, Kyle’s mind was racing. What was Elara’s true game? And what was the significance of the blue glow?
He glanced at Elara, his eyes narrowed. She was watching him, a hint of a smile on her lips.
The game was far from over, and Kyle was ready to play.
Kyle’s eyes narrowed, his gaze locked onto Elara’s. "What did you do to Lucias and Layla?" he asked, his voice low and even.
Elara’s smile was serene, her eyes sparkling with innocence. "I simply helped them survive, Kyle. The Krael’s poison was potent, and the Luminaria plant alone might not have been enough."
Kyle’s expression was skeptical, his mind racing with thoughts of the mana rain and world tears. He knew that those events had awakened something within everyone, including Lucias and Layla. He wasn’t sure what Elara had done, but it didn’t feel malicious.
"What exactly did you do?" Kyle pressed, his eyes never leaving Elara’s face.
Elara shrugged, her expression unconcerned. "I merely accelerated the process of their core awakening. The blue glow you saw was a sign of their energy pool expanding."
Kyle’s eyes widened slightly, his grip on his shadows tightening. He had suspected as much, but hearing it confirmed was another matter. The increase in their energy pool storage was a significant boost, but he was still wary of Elara’s intentions.
"Why?" Kyle asked, his voice firm. "Why help them?"
Elara’s smile grew, her eyes glimmering with amusement. "I did what was necessary, Kyle. They needed help, and I provided it. You should be grateful."
Kyle’s expression was cold, his eyes never leaving Elara’s. "I’m not grateful, Elara. I’m cautious. You have a habit of doing things that benefit you, and I’m not sure what you get out of this."
Elara laughed, the sound low and husky. "Oh, Kyle. You’re so quick to judge. I did what was necessary to ensure their survival. Whether you like it or not, you’re all guests on this planet, and I’ll do what it takes to keep you alive."
Lucias and Layla, still recovering from their ordeal, looked on with wide eyes, sensing the tension between Kyle and Elara.
"Kyle, it’s okay," Lucias said, his voice soft. "We feel...different. Stronger."
Layla nodded, her eyes shining with a newfound spark. "Yeah, I think she’s telling the truth, Kyle. I can feel it."
Elara’s smile was warm, her eyes sparkling with satisfaction. "See, Kyle? They appreciate my help. You should too."
Kyle’s expression was unyielding, his eyes locked onto Elara’s. "I’ll decide what I appreciate, Elara. Just remember, I’m watching you."
Elara’s laughter was low, her eyes glimmering with amusement. "I’m shaking, Kyle. But for now, let’s just enjoy the fact that Lucias and Layla are recovering. We’ll discuss the finer points of my hospitality later."
As the tension in the room dissipated, Kyle’s mind was still racing. What was Elara’s true game? And what did she want from them?
He glanced at Lucias and Layla, who were now standing, looking stronger and more energetic than before. They seemed to be taking Elara’s actions in stride, but Kyle knew better.
He would keep a close eye on Elara, and make sure she didn’t get too close.
Elara, sensing Kyle’s unease, smiled to herself. She had made her move, and now it was up to Kyle to react.
The game was far from over, and Elara was ready to play.
As the group continued to discuss their plans, Kyle’s shadows stirred, sensing the tension in the air.
He was ready, too. ’Bring it on.’
......
Back in Lumia Kingdom..
Troy walked towards the training grounds, his eyes fixed on the sprawling platform before him. It was a massive arena, similar to the one used for the annual tournament survival games. Luckily, it was one of the few locations left untouched, hidden from human sight by a concealment device created by Reze.
As he approached, Troy could see Ona leading the training session, her movements precise and deadly. The space guards were training alongside the newly awakened citizens, their bodies pushed to the limit.
Troy’s expression was grim as he watched the scene unfold. He could see the sweat dripping from their brows, the exhaustion etched on their faces. But they didn’t stop, driven by a fierce determination to survive.
Reze’s voice echoed in his mind, her words from earlier still ringing in his ears. "The key to unlocking their dormant abilities lies in pushing them to the edge, Your Majesty. The human body is capable of adapting to extreme conditions, and it’s in those moments of desperation that the mind and body can tap into hidden reserves of strength and power."
Troy had agreed, knowing that the survival of his kingdom depended on it. He had made up his mind to do whatever it took to ensure their dominance, no matter the cost.
As he watched, a young woman stumbled, her legs giving out beneath her. Ona was there in an instant, her voice firm as she urged the woman to get back up.
"Get up! You can do it! Push through the pain!"
The woman struggled to her feet, her face contorted in agony. But she didn’t give up, driven by a fierce will to survive.
Troy’s eyes narrowed, his grip on the railing tightening. This was what it meant to be strong. This was what it took to survive in a world filled with threats.
He watched as the training session continued, the intensity and ferocity of the participants a testament to their determination.
Reze appeared beside him, her eyes fixed on the training grounds. "Your Majesty, the results are promising. We’ve seen a significant increase in the activation of dormant abilities among the citizens."
Troy nodded, his expression unyielding. "Good. Keep pushing them, Reze. We can’t afford to let our guard down."
Reze nodded, her eyes glimmering with excitement. "I’ll continue to monitor their progress, Your Majesty. But I must warn you, the process is not without risks. Some may not survive the training."
Troy’s expression was cold, his voice devoid of emotion. "Casualties are to be expected, Reze. The strong will survive, and the weak will fall. That’s the way of the world."
Reze nodded, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. "Yes, Your Majesty."
As the training session drew to a close, Troy turned to leave, his mind already racing with the next steps. He would do whatever it took to ensure the survival of his kingdom, no matter the cost.
The strong would survive, and the weak would fall. That was the way of the world, and Troy was determined to make sure his kingdom was among the strongest.
The fate of his people depended on it.
Troy’s eyes narrowed, his grip on the railing tightening as he watched the participants disperse, their bodies exhausted but their spirits unbroken.
He knew that he had made the right decision, no matter how difficult it was.
The survival of his kingdom depended on it.
With a firm nod, Troy turned and walked away, the training grounds disappearing from view as he disappeared into the shadows.
The fate of his kingdom was all that mattered, and he would do whatever it took to ensure its survival.
