Triple X System-Chapter 266: Grim Reaper?
The mysterious figure stood tall, its dark hooded cloak billowing behind it like a shroud of night. The intricately ancient royal designed black scythe seemed to hum with an otherworldly energy, its presence commanding attention. The figure’s face was shrouded in shadows, making it impossible to discern any features.
"Greetings, Kyle," the figure said, its voice low and distorted. "I’ve been expecting you."
Kyle’s eyes narrowed, his hand instinctively reaching for his sword. "Who are you?" he asked, his voice firm.
The figure chuckled, the sound sending shivers down Kyle’s spine. "Ah, the young are always so eager to know. Very well, I’ll indulge you. But first, tell me, Kyle, what is your past?"
Kyle’s expression remained neutral, his mind racing with strategies and countermeasures. "I don’t know what you’re talking about," he said, playing dumb.
The figure’s gaze seemed to bore into Kyle’s soul, as if searching for something. After a moment, it nodded, its hood bobbing up and down. "Very well, Kyle. I shall not press the matter...for now."
As the figure spoke, Elara’s eyes widened in surprise, her gaze fixed on the crystal ball in front of her. The feed had cut off, and she was left staring at a blank screen.
"Impossible," she whispered, her voice barely audible. She stood up, her eyes scanning the room as she walked back and forth, her mind racing with possibilities.
She stopped in front of a sealed door, her fingers dancing across the magic seals. The door swung open, revealing a vast library filled with ancient tomes and dusty scrolls. Elara’s eyes gleamed with excitement as she ran her fingers across the shelves, stopping at a particular book.
The book was bound in black leather, with a small remnant bone skull placed at the front. Elara’s eyes seemed to cloud over with fear as she opened the book, a small cut on her palm dripping blood onto the skull’s mouth.
The skull seemed to come to life, a soft gasp escaping its lips as Elara muttered some inaudible words. A dense dark fog excluded from the book, causing Elara’s body to shudder in fear.
The pages turned, revealing words written in black ink on white pages. Elara’s eyes scanned the text, her face growing paler with each passing moment.
As Elara read on, the scene shifted back to Kyle, Layla, and Lucias in the cave. They were faced with another mysterious individual, its aura excluding an otherworldly energy.
The figure stood tall, its presence commanding attention. Kyle’s eyes narrowed, his hand instinctively reaching for a small dagger he’d crafted not too long, from the little dark energy his body had absorbed.
The big brown wolf beast roared, catching up with Kyle. A murderous look was etched in its burning eyes.
"Damnit! Why is everyone trying to kill me so badly, I mean, all I did was get married," Kyle sarcastically rolled his eyes at the two deadly foes.
Snow inwardly retorted, [Yeah, by getting married you mean stealing not just anyone’s wife, but the Lucifer’s fiance.]
The wolf beast roared, not wasting time but leaping forth. Creating a big crater where it left, changing the atmosphere drastically, turning it hot.
Just as Kyle thought he was screwed, the wolf beast’s body split in two, the eyes rolling back white.
The mysterious figure stood tall, its scythe humming with energy. "You have much to learn, young Kyle. But for now, let us focus on the task at hand."
The figure’s gaze seemed to bore into Kyle’s soul, as if searching for something. Kyle’s eyes narrowed, his mind racing with strategies and countermeasures.
"Interesting ~"
As the figure spoke, the air seemed to vibrate with tension. Layla’s eyes were wide with fear, her gaze fixed on the mysterious figure.
Lucias lay motionless on the ground, his body still and silent. Kyle’s heart ached with worry, but he knew he had to stay focused.
The mysterious figure took a step forward, its scythe glancing off the ground. "Tell me, Kyle, what do you know about the Lucifer?"
Kyle’s eyes narrowed, his mind racing with possibilities. "I know he’s the ruler of the underworld," he said, his voice firm.
The figure nodded, its hood bobbing up and down. "Ah, yes. But there’s more to it than that, Kyle. Much more."
As the figure spoke, the shadows seemed to deepen, the air growing colder. Kyle’s heart pounded with anticipation, his mind racing with possibilities.
The mysterious figure was hiding something, something big. And Kyle was determined to uncover the truth.
The figure’s gaze lingered on Kyle, creeping into his nerves just from a stare. Kyle’s eyes narrowed, his mind racing with strategies and countermeasures.
The fate of the world hung in the balance, and Kyle was at the center of it all.
The adventure would continue, no doubt, with Kyle facing new challenges and uncovering dark secrets. But one question remained.
’Who was this hidden individual?’ Kyle couldn’t sense the aura excluding from it was either human or beast. Leading to the theory this could either be a possible hybrid, like the dargon’s.
Or worse, something more powerful, and far more ancient that’d been caged up from eternity. Just awoken from slumber, here to reap his soul.
’Wait! T-this isn’t the grim reaper, right?’ Kyle frowned, his hand slightly shaking at that thought. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Looking at the figure, it clearly matches the description of the soul reaper. Black hooded cloth, chilling intent, not deadly or intimidating but just pure death vibes.
[I wouldn’t be so sure if I was you. Your theory is solid and might be true, but take into consideration there are demi-gods and other powerful beings hunting you.] Snow stated her suggestion, earning a light scoff from Kyle.
...
The darkness pulsed with energy, the shadows twisting and writhing like living things.
Elara’s eyes scanned the text, her face growing paler with each passing moment. The words seemed to dance across the page, a cryptic message that only she could see.
"The time of reckoning is near, and the balance of power was about to shift." She read with a white face, her entire body flinching at those words that held deeper meaning.
The fate of the world hung in the balance, and Kyle was at the center of it all.
...
"Here~" The voice gestured, stretching it’s arm covered with the long black sleeves. And immediately, Kyle felt a change in his system.
[Pure dark energy detected, absorbing now..]
’What!?’ His eyes widened in disbelief barely keeping up with the system notification. He has an understanding of what pure dark energy was, but was such a thing even possible?
Dark energy was born from the accumulation of negative energy, through channels and locations with high concentration specializing in dark arts.
Such as rituals, mass murders, sacrifices, voodoo, you name it! Anything dark produced dark energy no matter how small, as long as it was sinful enough.
[Note: Host demon core will slightly increase in size.]
Another system notification flashed before his sight. It was weird how much had transpired in a few days, but it seems fate has much more in stock for him than he could imagine.
"Mhm!" Grunting, he went down to a knee from the immense pain coursing through his body right now.
He could feel something growing within him, not vague or foreign but natural. Like it’d been there all his life, it was no doubt his demon core.
But, he never thought he could be able to actually increase it’s negative energy storage from other means. Except through levelling up, and eventually evolution. And he was proven wrong just now.
[You got this Kyle! I’m rooting for my husband.] Snow telepathically yelled, with a mischivious tone. Forcing out a weak smile from Kyle, refusing to succumb to this overwhelming agony.
.....
As the shadows cleared, a new scene emerged. Kyle stood tall, his eyes fixed on the mysterious figure. The air was thick with tension, the silence punctuated only by the soft breathing of the figure.
The darkness pulsed with energy, the shadows twisting and writhing like living things. Kyle’s heart pounded with anticipation, his mind racing with possibilities.
The mysterious figure stood tall, its scythe humming with energy. "The time of reckoning is near, Kyle. Are you prepared to face the darkness?"
Tilting his head to the figure location,a subtle frown spread across his face. "Do I have a choice?" He asked with a neutral face.
"Death is always an option." The figure replied in a deep tone.
Kyle’s eyes narrowed, his mind racing with strategies and countermeasures. "I’m ready," he said, his voice firm.
The figure nodded, its hood bobbing up and down. "Very well, Kyle. Let us begin."
"Wait!" Kyle yelled, stopping the figure before it went further. "Before we begin whatever sick fetish you have in mind I must ask, what is your motive?"
The question was direct and blunt, aiming for a straight forward answer. Not responding, the figure simply stared at Kyle as if contemplating something.
"To correct my past mistake." The figure spoke, making Kyle raise a brow. He wanted to inquire further, but wasn’t opportuned to.
The scene faded to black, the shadows swirling around Kyle like a living entity. The fate of the world hung in the balance, and Kyle was at the center of it all.
