Chapter 366: 366 Headmaster’s stand

[Rex’s POV: ]

"Why are you two so calm?"

We were standing before the headmaster’s office so one naturally should have some kind of reaction, maybe fear or uncertainty. But, the two of them were as cool as two children standing before their usual play place.

"Hmm? Is it surprising that we are so calm?"

"There’s no need to be worried about anything since we know what he’s gonna say anyway."

There were few students who had ever had the chance to talk with the headmaster personally and receiving a summons from him was no small matter.

He. Was a special transient being, someone that was more special than the gods, so there was no way to fathom his existence.

He was a special being and even the kings and emperors of the world had to wait for a long time to have any kind of personal meeting with him.

But, the two of them were talking about him as if they knew him personally.

’It was almost like he was an old acquaintance of theirs.’

They weren’t afraid or worried about this summons either as if this was nothing new to them.

"Both of you are unbelievable..."

"What do you mean they are unbelievable?! YOU are the unbelievable one!"

I alredy knew why I was summoned here, but none of had any idea why this friend of ours was here as well.

"How can you just go out and announce something like that?! Have you gone insane?! What the hell were you even thinking?!"

"Calm down Cathy. Chil, have some-."

"You shut up! All things aside, this has nothing to do with you two!"

Actually, all of this had everything to do with the two of them.

They were the reason I took that insane step... but if one looked at their aloof, clueless, casual faces, no one would believe they are the true masterminds behind this whole fuss going on all over the world.

’The empire closed down its borders temporarily under the rules of the fights so the external interference wasn’t going to be that great.

However, there was no way for them to stop the forces that already existed inside the empire.

’Also, there was no aural defence mechanism that could stop something like that sky fortress.’

The forces on our side were alredy absurd but, knowing that bastard father of mine, it wont be surpassing even if half our local forces ends up dead before. The start of the battle.

’They alredy told me how difficult this was going to be as well as how the headmaster possessed as great fortune that was far more than what the two of them currently possessed.’

As far as I know, they have already auctioned out the relics that they had stolen from all over the world. And if they still did not have as much money as that bastard, I don’t even want to imagine what kinds of deeds he might have committed to amass that kind of fortune.

Anyway...

Even they did not know why Cathy was here since all of us were summoned here separately through the system messages.

But, well, she was here and she was the one that was panicking the most at the moment.

"Ughhhh. I know it! It’s because of you! We are all here because of you! It’s haha something to do with you!"

She was blaming me for all this.

We were standing outside his office with the system window telling us to wait, and she had been like that ever since we met her in the downstairs corridor.

"Cathy I-."

"Shut up! Just shut up! Don’t say anything damn it!"

She still couldn’t understand why I would do something so stupid.

Fighting with the emperor?

Neither did it make sense that a mere crown prince like me was doing something crazy, nor did it make sense that someone as dirty and cruel as him would let this one slide.

If this was a battle with our lives on the line, then... my life was the only thing that was at the stake here.

"Stupid, dumb, fool."

She was having a panic attack, and it was not the first time in the last few minutes.

She just couldn’t wrap her mind around my actions and since it did not make any logical sense either, she didn’t know what to think of this.

And now even headmaster had called us... so, she was worried that all of us would be expelled for doing something so crazy... which was a dumb worry.

’If she was saying I was the only one to blame here— which is technically true, doesnt that mean they have nothing to do with this either?’

The reason all of us were summoned here definitely had something to do with the battle and war, but, none of us really knew why we were here so there really was no way to tell if we were actually here because of that.

[Ding!]

The new message now popped up before us and we were intruded to go inside...

"Let’s go~."

"Hey! Stop that! I’m alredy losing my mind!"

Miss Auriel was still cheerful and and careless about all this and Cathy could not take this anymore.

She was afraid of what was going to happen to all of us... especially me.

-Click.

But, from how they were behaving, it didnt seem like there was anything to actually worry about in tyhis situation.

-Clank!

"I’ll keep it short so there is no need to sit."

The headmaster was sitting on his desk, working on some document with his glasses on that neither Cathy nor I had seen him in before this day.

"Wassup Headmaster~. How’s you doin~?"

But, the instruction of the headmaster that seemed more like a warning did not really do much to the behavior of that daring girl.

"El?!"

With a happy smile on her face, she just went ahead and sat down right before him and, if that wasnt enough, she even picked up a few things from his desk and started looking through the documents.

"Need some help? This stuff looks pretty simple."

The headmaster perhaps wasn’t going to waste much of his time on this... on us, but this behavior of her...

"That... idiot."

The headmaster was looking at her with a gaze that seemed like he was going to kill her with that look alone.

It seemed like he was annoyed, angry, and upset at the same time, but it was too complex a of a behavior... which she did not react to at all!

’She is fearless...’

She just sat there and with a constant smile on her face, she continued looking at the papers before her.

They we some important document and that much was certain from the looks of it, and she was saying something like helping him with that?

Now that... sounded absurd.

"If you are offering help for free, I don’t mind accepting. But if you want anything in return, well miss, you can go back.

I can deal with these small things by myself."

He answered her with an indifferent look, and just went back to his work.

There was no other kind of reaction from him. And he did not show any kinds of rage either.

"Hump. Cheap bastard."

"El?!!"

It seemed like Cathy was going to have a heart attack thanks to the actions of that girl. And perhaps I was going to have a stroke as well with all this information overload.

’She not only went against the words of the headmaster in his own office, she also almost offended him, and when he peacefully turned her dumb offer, she even cursed him.’

Not even my own bastard father had the guts to do that.

Not in this exact setting.

"She is crazy..."

But, the crazier thing here was how the headmaster didn’t react to her curse and just kept going with his work.

"Anyhow..."

Analysing things was a natural process of my mind. And it had become a common practice for me to over analyse any kind of scenario... but whenever I’m with them and they do something absurd like this, even my skills and mind fails to fathom the limits of their craziness.

"I know about your declaration, prince Morexis."

"See! I told you!"

She thankfully didn’t shout it out loud but the way she said it right in my face, with her face being too close to mine... no. Too close was no good.

"There will be outside peasts that will ask me about various things and I am going to have to deal with all that thanks to you.

So, as punishment for giving me a headache, all four of you are going to be on the cleaning duty for the rest of the month."

"What?!"

"Hmmm?"

"Cleaning... duty?"

"No! What the hell?! Why do we have to clean?!"

Miss El started shouting and arguing against his words, but... his words did not make much sense to either of us.

"Just cleaning duty for something... so severe?"

Contrary to miss El’s intense reaction to this punishment, I found this too mild against something so big.

We were talking about the entire empire and the fate of the empire in which the academy was located.

If something happens to the empror and the empire, the academy might also get effected by the aftereffects... and perhaps it was inevitable as well.

But, he was just giving us cleaning duty for a few days?

How was that appropriate...?

"Prince Morexis."

The headmaster stopped his pen, and looked at me after giving Miss El an annoyed glance.

"It does not matter to me who the students of this academy are.

They can be the kings, the heroes, the gods, or the rulers of this world.

It doesn’t matter to The Headmaster what a student is as long as they are a student of this academy.

You haven’t broken any of the academy rules so there is no need for any punishment at all... in fact, the reason I personally called you all here is exactly that."

"Hmmm?"

He shook his head with a helpless smile and went back to his work.

"It does not matter to me what happens outside the walls of this academy as long as I don’t have to deal with it.

This time, I’ll have to deal with a few things, and they are going to be annoying.

Thus, a personal punishment.

And this decision is final."

He looked at Miss El while saying that last part, and after that, he shook his pen, and in the very next moment, we found ourselves not in the headmaster’s office on the top floor of the academy, but, in the garden of spring.

"That bastard...! That fucking piece of shit!"

Miss El was furious, and it seemed like she was going to stomp all the way back to his office to shout at the headmaster... but, mister Lucy stopped her.

And somehow, after saying farewell to the two of us, he managed to drag her away...

"That... crazy girl..."

Cathy was still not fine yet since the situation was not the most peaceful one we have experanced.

But, at least we knew we weren’t getting expelled.

A little bit of cleaning duty should be a way better than expulsion.

And, at the very least, Cathy had understood that much.
