Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations-Chapter 1216: Why Do You Like Me?
Ian Shelby seemed very familiar with this area. They walked with the wind, neither of them speaking a word.
Outside the greenbelt, vehicles flowed continuously, but it was relatively quiet around them, as if they could hear each other’s breathing.
Ahead, at the turn, was a grove of maple trees. Many people came during the day for photos, and even from a distance, one could hear the rustling of the leaves.
It’s said that these leaves are from red maples introduced from Aeridia, and they’ve been here for 20 years.
The late autumn evening breeze, with a hint of chill, brushed against them.
Ian Shelby took off his suit jacket and placed it around her shoulders without asking if she was cold.
The girl turned her gaze, and under the soft streetlight, she once again found herself looking into his deep, gentle eyes.
"Aren’t you cold?" Jocelyn looked at him, now only in a shirt. "You’re a doctor; you can’t catch a cold, so many people count on you."
As she spoke, she was about to take off the jacket to return to him, but Ian held her shoulders with his large hands. "I’m not cold, you keep wearing it."
They continued to walk forward, under the moonlight, through the street lamps, accompanied by the chilly autumn wind.
Jocelyn felt warm inside; it was a rather wonderful feeling.
"Why do you like me?" Ian asked her as they walked on.
Jocelyn blurted out, "I have a compassionate heart but not the ability to save the world." She turned her gaze, looking at him with admiration in her eyes, "But you do."
"The works you create warm people’s hearts, offering spiritual salvation, which I think is even more powerful."
"No, I still believe physical health is most important."
They talked as they walked.
The red maples fluttered down like dancing red butterflies, beautifully landing on their hair, shoulders, and palms.
Jocelyn reached out and caught two falling leaves, as happy as a child, "So beautiful!"
Ian’s gaze fell on her profile. Seeing her blissful expression made him very happy too.
He couldn’t help but hold her hand, and just as Jocelyn looked slightly surprised, he interlocked his fingers with hers.
As they walked, they glanced at each other again, a warm current growing in their hearts.
He asked, "Have you decided?"
"What?" She didn’t quite understand his meaning.
"Have you decided to like me?" In this atmosphere, Ian spoke plainly, "Is this a momentary impulse or a well-considered decision?"
Why ask like this?
What was he doubting?
Jocelyn looked at his handsome profile, walking beside him, momentarily unsure of what was on his mind.
Was he concerned about Trevor?
"To be with me, you need a lot of tolerance." Ian stopped, gripping her hand tightly, and earnestly gazed into her eyes, "Because my profession is special."
Jocelyn lifted her gaze to look at him and heard him say, "Life is paramount, and most of my time will belong to my patients. Are you prepared for this?"
The corners of her lips involuntarily rose, and then she gently stood on tiptoe to kiss his lips.
It left Ian astonished. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
She said, "I’ll answer you with actions too."
The four eyes met, and time seemed to stand still.
Ian’s fingers caressed her cheek, gentle and soft, then he wrapped her gently in his arms.
When Ian drove Jocelyn Morgan home, Jasmine happened to see them.
"Whose car is that? Is Jocelyn back?" She quickly moved to the living room door, seeing Jocelyn getting out of the car, waving towards the driver’s seat.
Soon after, the car drove away.
Finn Morgan recognized it as Ian Shelby’s car, and he was thoughtful.
Jocelyn walked into the yard, stepping towards the living room, her steps light and a lingering smile on her lips as if she had tasted honey.
"Jocelyn, who brought you back?" Jasmine caught her and asked, "You were at dinner for several hours."
