Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations-Chapter 1242: I Really Almost Turned to Stone
"Sister Sterling, trust is the most important thing between people."
The girl smiled and said, "Besides, we’re mother and daughter, right?"
"Janelle, I’m telling you, you better not try to fool me!"
"Alright then, I’m not going to chat with you now. I’ll come back for your birthday! Bye!" She hung up the phone without caring about her mother’s attitude.
Holding the phone, she exhaled deeply and couldn’t help but complain, "Women are just too difficult! So paranoid!"
"Isn’t it because you’re lying?" Trevor said calmly.
The girl’s chest tightened as she turned her eyes and discovered she wasn’t alone; the person next to her was someone she knew quite well!
They had only met once, but she had seen his photo countless times!
Janelle’s expression was like she had seen a ghost, "Trevor?!"
Trevor remembered her too; he was the type who never forgot a face. She was the daughter of Mr. Mills, his blind date that day.
This... happens to be another encounter??
And they ended up sitting together?
He overheard her lying?
"Ahem..." Janelle felt awkward, this man was staring at her without blinking, who knew what he was thinking.
Trevor looked extremely composed.
"Well... I think." The girl shifted her gaze, ignoring the lie, and changed the topic, "Last time, the blind date, I was just fulfilling a task for my dad, same as you coming to the meeting, but you brought a girlfriend, isn’t that inappropriate?"
Janelle found this opening to shift the blame onto him, and looked at him quite confidently.
Trevor withdrew his gaze, his lips slightly pursed, handsome and stern, seemingly unwilling to say anything.
"Hey?" The girl scrutinized him, "Are you heartbroken? Why the long face?"
Trevor’s heart constricted slightly, a faint sting in his core, yet his expression remained unchanged.
"Are you in a bad mood?" Janelle realized something, suddenly turning serious, "Did you really break up?"
Trevor’s brows furrowed slightly, finding her a bit noisy.
"Actually, breaking up..."
"Miss Mills is quite calm when lying." Trevor interrupted softly, "You said you’re not in Riventhal? Haven’t seen your father? You wouldn’t be a notorious liar, would you?"
"I... it’s not what you think, it’s our family’s complicated affairs!"
"Lying to family, that’s even worse, right?"
"You..."
Just as the girl didn’t know how to explain, her phone rang again in her hand.
She quickly looked at the caller; thankfully, it wasn’t her mom!
But— it was her dad calling!
She hesitated for a moment, but still answered, "Hello, Dad."
"Janelle, I’m telling you, you’re a Mills! You must listen to me about finding a boyfriend! Don’t let your mom have the final say!" Nathan Mills said seriously, "Haven’t I met more eligible men in business than she has?!"
Due to her father’s excitement and loud voice, Trevor overheard every word clearly!
Before Janelle could respond, her father’s voice came through again—
"I know you like Trevor’s type! I just filtered these lists again! Looking for someone up to Trevor’s standards! At least half of the men qualified!"
Hearing this, Trevor froze.
The girl was mortified!!
Janelle covered the phone’s speaker, she was about to turn to stone!
And Trevor?
Graceful, tall, and handsome, with a hint of unease in his expression.
Afraid her father might continue, the girl hurriedly hung up the phone. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Silence...
Deadly silence.
Until the cabin’s announcement echoed, Janelle awkwardly looked out the window as the plane began to taxi on the runway... My goodness, there’s seriously a taste of death in the air!
Trevor picked up a magazine to flip through, having no interest in dealing with her.
Being a girl, Janelle was so embarrassed she wished she could crawl into a hole! But this was a direct flight to Emberfall, lasting several hours!
