Twisted Dreams-Chapter 32 - 4: Liu Family Sisters
The old town of South Sea City is vast, occupying one-fifth of South Sea City, encircling it in a semicircle on the periphery.
Some bitter people in South Sea have a saying.
If you move out of South Sea Old Town and into the other six districts, then you can be considered a South Sea person.
The old town is mostly filled with migrant workers or local South Sea people with low living standards.
You could say, the old town has the most poor people.
It’s normal for a fifty square meter house to house three generations.
It’s already evening.
In the alley, some heavily made-up women were flaunting themselves outside small bungalows.
They cast flirtatious glances at passing men and coquettishly approached to chat.
Some men pushed them away in annoyance, but the women weren’t angry, just cheerfully moved on.
If they encountered shy ones, the women would tease them by pulling the men into their embrace, watching as the men ran away blushing, snickering among themselves.
At this moment, a man wearing a black suit, with an upright figure, walked into the alley calmly.
The women’s eyes lit up.
Most of the patrons here were laborers or small market owners; such a quality man was rare.
Some women intended to approach, but retreated in horror after seeing the man’s appearance clearly.
That man’s face was wrapped in bandages, his eyes filled with a dangerous chill. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
If a man like this came to a low-class red-light district looking for fun, he would surely have some peculiar hobby.
No doubt, the torment would require half a month’s recovery.
The man had a purpose as he walked straight towards a small bungalow.
In front of the bungalow sat a young girl.
Eighteen or nineteen years old, her face painted with excessive makeup not fitting her age.
She wore tacky leopard print black silk, though it wasn’t deep autumn yet, draped in a heavy coat.
The girl’s demeanor was quite tranquil, only ruined by her garish attire.
Seeing the man’s appearance clearly, the girl was initially stunned, then sweetly asked:
"Brother, want to play? Eighty."
Du Yangming walked into the bungalow expressionlessly.
The women outside whispered to each other.
"Can that little girl handle getting sorted out?"
"She’s very weak, how dare she take this kind of job?"
"She’s seriously ill, with a sister to support, just trying to survive."
"I’m just afraid she’ll die here, unlucky."
The girl heard the women and her expression didn’t change, hurriedly went inside, afraid the customer would be upset.
...
The interior was simple.
Two beds, a table, two chairs, a stove, and a small bookshelf.
Books were on the shelf, mostly high school textbooks and exercise books.
The girl took off her coat, prepared to serve Du Yangming.
"Cough, cough!"
From one of the beds with drawn curtains came uncontrollable coughing.
Du Yangming frowned.
The girl looked anxious, quickly explained:
"That’s my sister, she’s ill.
When I work, she’s usually out.
She’ll fall asleep soon and won’t bother us."
Du Yangming’s expression was complex.
He himself was a high school teacher.
The girl before him and the sister on the bed were both supposed to enjoy the edification of books, the adoration of boys.
How did they get trapped in this quagmire?
He was also an orphan, but he admits he was a lucky orphan.
Du Yangming said:
"What’s your name?"
The girl replied:
"Liu Yuanyuan."
Du Yangming glanced at the bed:
"Your sister?"
The girl grew tense:
"Liu Mengmeng, she doesn’t do this, only I do."
The names on the list matched.
These two girls were seriously ill, wouldn’t survive for several days.
He stood, walked to the bookshelf:
"Is your sister still studying?"
The girl seemed pained, gloom clouded her eyes:
"I’m a cheap woman, my sister isn’t."
Du Yangming felt a sense of helplessness.
He had spent the day searching for people on the list.
The journey left Du Yangming with a heavy heart.
He felt he should be a doctor, not a teacher.
Perhaps he was the end-time savior in a novel himself.
Fortunately, there’s a true savior for these people.
The benevolent Death God was willing to pardon the wrongs these people suffered.
Hmm... these people didn’t even know what crime they had committed.
The sins imposed by society required a divine being to absolve.
Du Yangming spoke calmly:
"Today, before midnight, you must walk to Little Black Mountain."
The commanding tone left Liu Yuanyuan at a loss:
"I, I don’t go out, brother, I only do this here, I’ll be obedient."
Du Yangming said:
"Do you want to survive?"
Liu Yuanyuan froze.
Didn’t she know her own body?
Now when she took two steps it felt very uncomfortable, she felt cold every day.
Liu Yuanyuan asked:
"What do you mean?"
Du Yangming turned around, his eyes gradually turning blood-red.
The terrifying aura made the room’s temperature drop several degrees.
He was a top predator, all humans before him were food.
The apex of the biological chain!
Even releasing a little bit of vampire energy was enough to make ordinary humans feel they faced a fearsome beast.
Du Yangming’s terrifying appearance made Liu Yuanyuan horrified.
She instinctively ran to her sister’s bed, stared at Du Yangming, tightly protected her sister behind her.
The trembling of her body indicated her fear.
Du Yangming slowly approached Liu Yuanyuan, tangible darkness coiling around him:
"I am an envoy of the Death God, a devoted believer of my lord.
On my lord’s orders, I grant you both the chance to live.
As long as you worship my lord, reach Little Black Mountain before midnight, you can avoid death."
Liu Yuanyuan breathed rapidly, fear causing her mind to stall.
The sister on the bed coughed violently again.
Liu Yuanyuan glanced back at her sister; the fear in her eyes faded, leaving only hope:
"Can we not die?
Then save my sister, I’ll do anything.
If you need a living sacrifice, if you don’t mind, take me as you wish.
Save my sister, I beg you."
Du Yangming frowned:
"My lord is not an evil god, the opportunity has been given to you.
Your time is short, consider swiftly, the chance is only once."
Du Yangming finished, turned and left.
He wasn’t afraid revealing extraordinary power would cause trouble.
Throughout the journey, he purposely avoided surveillance areas.
Actually, the old town didn’t have many cameras.
Moreover, these people were lonely, seriously ill, probably not in the mood to report.
If reported, the sheriff might not even believe.
To be cautious, he left a small bat via black magic at each household on the list, monitoring their actions.
It was quite a while after Du Yangming left that Liu Yuanyuan’s legs regained feeling.
Liu Yuanyuan pulled back the curtain, revealing a girl identical to her.
This was a pair of twins.
The sister on the bed looked inexperienced and graceful, a stark contrast to the heavily made-up elder sister.
Liu Yuanyuan nudged her sister:
"Meng Meng, did you hear?"
Liu Mengmeng was almost unconscious, her eyes half-closed, she tried to hook her sister’s clothes with her hand.
Du Yangming’s speech included black magic, Liu Mengmeng heard Du Yangming’s words clearly.
Liu Mengmeng was very afraid of Du Yangming, and equally feared death.
Liu Yuanyuan tightly held Liu Mengmeng’s hand:
"You want to go, right?
It’s okay, sister will carry you, we’ll set off immediately.
Little Black Mountain isn’t far from here; we’ll surely make it before midnight."
As she spoke, Liu Yuanyuan somehow gathered strength, lifted Liu Mengmeng, carried her on her back.
Liu Yuanyuan’s face flushed, blood flowed from her nose.
She murmured to herself:
"It’s okay, it’s okay.
You won’t die, you still have to go to college, get married in the future.
Don’t be afraid, sister is here, sister will save you."
