Undead Evolution: From Trash To Divine-Chapter 31 - Thinking straight
Ignoring the questioning look on his face, Eva started to speak, her voice sweet as honey.
"Please forgive me if I have disturbed you, honored guest."
Although Eva said these words, there was not even a trace of hesitation on her face. How could Lukas not realize she was just doing lip service and couldn’t care less about his opinion?
So without wasting his energy to speak, he waited for her to finish her explanation.
As he expected, after beating around the bush for a couple of minutes, Eva finally returned to the matter at hand.
"You might have already become aware that the Roaring Dragon settlement is on the verge of facing another disaster. To defend their home and make sure the star monsters are not able to use the tear to invade our home world, most of the Awakeners have started to return back. As such, it is difficult to deal with this situation..."
Something inside Lukas’s mind clicked when he heard those words, and his gaze moved to the masked woman standing silently without uttering a single word. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
How could he not understand what she wanted to say?
Simply put, the Whitewood Inn wanted him to share the room with another guest, probably this woman.
Of course, he would have never agreed to this under normal circumstances. After all, he was not a horny teenager that would start wagging his tail like a dog upon the mere sight of the opposite gender.
The world was dangerous, and he had too many secrets.
But the current situation was not normal. At least for today he would have to adjust until he found a new place to stay.
Not caring about what he thought, Eva explained what he had already deduced and left after uttering a simple line.
"I hope the honored guest will cooperate."
Lukas stood in the corridor watching Eva’s disappearing figure with a slightly dazed look on his face.
The cat-masked woman made her way inside the room without even greeting Lukas.
He watched her actions with a plain look on his face, not minding her cold response.
But given that they were going to share a room together, the least she could have done was introduce herself.
With that thought in mind, Lukas also made his way inside.
Sighing in relief when he noticed there was no sign of undead anywhere, the moment he had gotten suspicious of Eva’s intentions he had already dismissed Tommy.
Tommy was one of his biggest trump cards. He didn’t want to casually reveal it to anyone.
The room wasn’t large, with roughly a hundred meters of carpet area. There wasn’t much room, with one bed lying at the center and the remaining area not offering much space.
Just as he was thinking how they were going to manage, he saw the woman push the heavy bed to one corner with the flick her hands as if the wooden bed weighed nothing.
Lukas watched this scene and frowned.
He could also do such a thing, but not as effortlessly as her.
One thing was clear—whoever this woman was, she was stronger than him, at least in terms of raw power.
With the presence of an outsider in his room, there were few things that he could do, so he silently moved toward the bed and sat down.
The mysterious woman didn’t seem to care about his actions either. She simply took a sword stance.
Or that was what Lukas thought.
As he watched, Lukas realized she was practicing swordplay.
Her posture was crude with several openings.
Although he was not a master, he could still tell.
However, he didn’t want to appear rude and, more importantly, didn’t want to give her a reason to open her mouth, so he turned his gaze away. Focusing.
Trying to sharpen his mental state before the disaster.
Although he might have gotten slightly stronger these past few days, in the end what really mattered in battles of life and death was how decisive he was. Everything else was secondary.
He had barely closed his eyes when he felt a pair of eyes staring at him, cold as ice, seemingly peering straight into his soul.
Suddenly he had the urge to sigh.
It appeared what he was worried about had really happened.
Even when he did his best to avoid it.
Maybe I should not have bothered looking at her at all. Lukas shrugged his shoulders looking slightly frustrated.
"What happened? Why did you stop? You should have continued looking..."
"Huh?"
Lukas’s mouth unconsciously opened wide.
What did he just hear?
Surely he was not hallucinating.
Continue looking?
Did he look like the type to reject such a good offer?
The next moment Lukas did just that.
Opening his eyes, he directly focused on the woman’s figure, his pair of eyes moving up and down, scanning every inch of her body.
...
The rabbit-masked woman felt Lukas’s eyes scanning every inch of her body and felt her stomach turn green.
Gritting her teeth, she controlled the urge to tear Lukas’s body into a million pieces.
However, she was also slightly confused.
Every gaze before this strange young man had been the same.
The same bestial desire. The same lustful look.
Yet this time she noticed something different.
There was no lust in that man’s gaze.
Instead, something else.
Something different.
An emotion she had only recently become familiar with.
Caution.
That’s right.
Ambrose had only recently gotten familiar with this emotion.
After all, just a few days ago she had been a princess with everything she could wish for just a word away.
Feeling interested, the gears in her mind started to turn.
Lukas didn’t know that his cautious nature had caught Ambrose’s interest.
Not aware of this, after taking full advantage of her offer, analyzing strength and weakness; he turned his gaze away.
If it had been someone else, they might have continued watching.
But Lukas didn’t.
The reason behind it was simple.
Although he might have wasted his previous life achieving nothing, it was not completely pointless.
It had taught him a few important life lessons.
In life, there was a time for everything.
And given the situation he was in now, the best he should do was stay at least miles away from women.
After all, Hole is not the goal.
Survival is the top most priority.
