Chapter 100: SHE RUINED HERSELF

Logan looked very intimidating, yet Ranon didn’t even blink an eye when he spoke again.

"I have a way to find a skeleton in your closet. Don’t threaten me; you wouldn’t like to stand on the opposite side of me. Think wisely about what you are going to do." freeweɓnovel-cøm

"Fuck you!" Logan roared. "Is this how you got my sister to agree to the marriage?!"

Ranon shook his head. He pushed Logan away from him because he was too close for his liking. "No, your sister was the one who came to me with the idea of marriage."

Ranon told him the truth, but he didn’t say anything about the contract between them. He indeed had a few ways to gather information. He even knew Logan’s dirty secret.

But then, because of that, Ranon was rather frustrated since he couldn’t find anything about Hazel. She was still a mystery for him, and he wouldn’t be satisfied until he figured her out.

The sky was rather gloomy tonight as the rain started trickling down from the sky, and when the first thunder roared, that was when Olivia heard someone trying to enter the apartment.

She didn’t need to see the CCTV camera to know who it was. She didn’t even budge from her sitting position where she curled herself on the sofa.

Lyle was actually nice enough to clean up her apartment after the bloody scene she left behind.

Her blood must have tainted the sofa, and he couldn’t clean it up. Thus, he bought her a new one. Olivia didn’t like the color, but then she would complain about it later.

The knocking sounded more desperate and aggressive now. That man tried to open the door with force, yet it was too sturdy for him to take it down.

In the end, Olivia heard the incessant doorbell that blared in her ears.

He would break it if he kept doing that. Still, Olivia chose to lie down on the sofa instead, staring at the wall.

After the persistent doorbell didn’t work, Marcus called her name. He must have drunk before he came here, but he was sober enough to talk with her.

Alcohol was always the main problem. It didn’t mix well with his anger issue.

"Olivia! I know you are inside! Open the door! Let’s talk! Olivia! Come out now! Why don’t you open the door?! Open the door now!"

Olivia was tempted to call security to drag him away, but somehow, she didn’t do that. She listened to his voice.

As crazy as it sounded, she missed him...

Despite the fact he was cursing at her right now. The more she listened to him, the more painful it was, yet she kept listening.

Lyle, Arlo, and River were right; she was indeed stupid. Her brain stopped functioning whenever it came to him.

"Olivia, please give me one more chance... Just one more chance... I am sorry. I am sorry for hurting you. I am sorry for hitting you. I am sorry for all the things that I have said to you. I am sorry, Olivia. I didn’t mean it."

Olivia clenched her jaw, willed herself not to give in.

"There is something not right in my head. My world is too loud. Please, Olivia, I need you. You are the only safe place that I have."

After Marcus let out his anger and lashed out at Olivia for three hours, now he tried to beg her like usual. This was the same tactic, the same method he used to use a lot, and every time Olivia would fall for it.

Olivia pulled the blanket over her head. She hugged herself and steeled her heart not to open the door for him.

Her body was still in so much pain, even more so her heart.

However, she was still having a hard time hating him, not giving in, and not trusting all the bullshit that came out of his mouth.

Probably this was the time when he really meant his words.

Probably this was indeed the time he would actually make things better.

Probably this was it. He promised her that he would change.

He promised her everything that she wanted to hear.

"Olivia, please. How could you throw away ten years of our time together? We have gone through a lot. I was there at your lowest. Why can’t you be here for mine?"

That was right.

Olivia questioned her resolution. Was she too harsh on him? Should she stay a bit longer? He only needed time...

"I was there with you and supported you. Please, Olivia, I am at my lowest, and I need you to be by my side. I am so sorry. You know that’s not me. You know me well. You know the man who hit you was not me. There’s something in my head. Please, Olivia, help me..."

Marcus then stayed for the whole night, talking about the past, reminiscing about their happy time together, but in the morning, he finally left.

Once he left, Olivia didn’t feel any relief because the fact that she couldn’t hear his voice left a huge hole in her heart, and she hated it when she had to admit she wanted him back.

Even though it was hard. Even though it was painful. She wanted to be with him.

Olivia pulled down the blanket when the sun finally appeared on the horizon and filtered through the room, illuminating every dark corner in this place.

Slowly, Olivia got off the sofa and then opened the door, but she found no one. Marcus was no longer there.

Her heart caved in, and her legs buckled. She cried. She clutched her chest because her heart was in so much pain.

She cried to the emptiness in the hallway of her apartment. The only thing left was his scent. She missed him.

But more importantly, she missed the way they used to be.

She thought she could fix him, but she ruined herself in the process...
