Chapter 99: A THREAT

"What? What do you mean?"

Ranon then nodded to one of his men, who brought a glass of water. "I will give you two minutes to sober up. After that, we are going to have a long discussion."

If you saw Ranon right now, you would know not to mess with him. Logan grumbled, but he drank the water.

Ranon’s demeanor completely changed. He used to look very calm and collected and didn’t show much emotion.

But for some reason, Logan felt scared of this man. He actually held him hostage inside this room to look into more details about his sister.

"Tell me everything that you know about Hazel."

"Did Hazel know that I am here? Is this how you treated your brother-in-law?" Logan lifted his head defiantly, masking his fear of him.

"Just answer my question, Logan. I don’t want to make this difficult." Actually, Ranon had been trying to get Logan so he could find out more about Hazel, but in the end, this man came to him willingly.

"What do you want to know about her?" Logan shook his head. He sobered up almost immediately as he tried to grasp the situation and figure out what Ranon wanted.

"Tell me everything about Hazel." Ranon poured whiskey into his tumbler and added ice. He wanted Logan to be sober, but he drank like it was water. "From what I know, as the daughter of the Rose family, this is not how the way Hazel has been acting in the past few weeks."

Logan raised his brows. He swatted the two men’s hands, who held him down from his shoulders.

The two men looked at Ranon and then stepped back when he gestured for them to leave the room, leaving the two of them alone.

And without the pressure, Logan leaned his back against the chair; he stared at Ranon with a questioning look. "So, you noticed it too?"

Logan knew there was something wrong with Hazel. She was not usually like that. The sister he knew was not someone who was daring enough to talk back to their father and brother.

She used to be very timid and easily scared. She wouldn’t have the guts to even look him in the eyes.

However, in the past few weeks, she changed one hundred eighty percent, which left Logan wondering what actually happened to her.

"I don’t know what happened to her, but she changed since that night."

That night...

Ranon knew what night Logan meant, but he wanted more clarification about that. "Tell me more about it."

"Look, I am not sure what you are looking for here, but if you feel that she changed a lot and you wonder what happened, I have the same question too. Hazel right now is not like the Hazel that I knew. She used to listen to whatever our father told her to do, let alone talk back to him."

Logan stood up. He approached Ranon, who was standing at the door with a glass of whiskey in his hand.

"She didn’t even dare to be in the same room with our father and Dylan. She will be very quiet and was afraid to make a mistake. But now, after that night that she spent with you, she changed a lot. It almost feels like she is a different person now."

Ranon met his eyes, and he knew Logan was telling the truth. He was as confused.

"Tell me what happened that night. My sister has changed since that time; what have you done to her to change her like that?"

"Should I tell you in detail about what happened?" Ranon smiled, but it was not that kind of smile that you were grateful to see.

"No, thank you." Logan grimaced. "But you are the one who was there with her the last time she acted normal. Probably you had done something very horrendous to her. That’s why something is not right with her head." Logan pointed his own head.

Ranon remembered that night. He frowned. Was he... too harsh with her, thus traumatizing her, which led to her change?

"Or, probably the drugs that Dylan gave to her did something to her brain." Logan looked at Ranon up and down. "But I don’t think that’s the case because I assume you consumed the same drugs too, yet you are fine."

Logan was still going on with his assumptions.

"Probably, she is in a deep shock from what happened; that’s why she changed a lot."

Ranon didn’t say anything. He had a lot of questions to ask, but if Logan himself didn’t have the answer he was looking for and he also had the same questions as him, what else did he need from him? He wouldn’t get anything, especially with Logan’s track record with the way he treated Hazel.

"Look, I am not sure what happened with her, but obviously if you want to know the truth, you need to ask Dylan; that jerk was the one who tricked both of you." Logan crossed his arms. His jaw hardened. "And I don’t appreciate being kidnapped like this. I hope you don’t mind if I tell Hazel what you have done to me."

Logan was threatening Ranon with Hazel.

However, Ranon couldn’t care less about his lame threat since he had the real one. "Fair enough. But when you visit little Archie, make it less obvious."

Suddenly the smug look on Logan’s face changed, his eyes widened, he balled his fists, and his whole body was trembling.

He didn’t know how to control his anger, and the fact Ranon knew about Archie was indeed a threat, a real threat for him.

His mind was clouded when he threw a punch against Ranon, yet the latter had seen that, and it was easy for him to dodge it.

Logan’s fist hit the wall behind Ranon; his eyes filled with anger. "Don’t you dare to do anything to him." His voice was slightly darker. His playful and unruly personality changed all of a sudden.
