Unexpected Marriage With Mr. Leighton: Rebirth of the Villain-Chapter 112: TIRESOME
Chapter 112: TIRESOME
"Since you have woken up, please leave the apartment. I don’t have anything to tell you anymore." Valerie opened the door and stood there.
This was her first time seeing the seriousness in Lucian’s eyes. All this time, she was used to seeing his cheerful and silly side.
Therefore, it made her a little bit uncomfortable.
Lucian didn’t budge for a moment, but then he nodded and then left. He said nothing because he knew if he said anything, it would only worsen the situation.
After all, he could leave peacefully knowing her brother was no longer here.
Once Lucian left, Valerie closed the door. She didn’t want to be disturbed. Even if her brother returned and banged her door, she wouldn’t open it.
But it was unlikely since he already got the money, and now Valerie wanted to rest because tomorrow was a big day for her boss.
It was Ranon and Hazel’s wedding day.

In the hospital.
Aubrey felt her stomach churn and her head hurt very badly; she hit her head so hard when she fell, and the brightness in this room was not helping at all.
Aubrey tried to move her hand, but someone held it down and called her name.
She knew this voice. This was the voice she had wanted to hear for a very long time. She had been chasing after him, but he couldn’t care less about her.
"Aubrey, open your eyes. Are you feeling better?"
His voice felt like silk to her ears. Soft, gentle, and comforting.
Even though it was hard, Aubrey managed to open her eyes and saw it was indeed Arlo. He was the one who stayed beside her, holding her hand and looking at her with the gentleness that she had been longing for.
The sight of him made her cry almost instantly. All of the suffering that she had to go through came back, and she couldn’t even hold herself back.
"Arlo... You are here. You are here with me..." Aubrey cried painfully. She held him a little bit tighter.
"Yes, I am here," Arlo replied. He held her hand and kissed her head. "Are you okay?" he asked gently.
This gentleness was so rare coming from Arlo because recently he had been avoiding Aubrey like a plague. Not only that, even after the last confrontation, where Aubrey hurt herself, Arlo still returned to this cold self.
He only became better for two to three days, but after that, he was being cold again with her.
Outside of the ward, Arthur and Jack glared at each other. There was this tension between them, while Elise had gone home first.
She said she didn’t like to be in the hospital and would come to visit Aubrey later. Even with the fact that Aubrey was her own daughter, she couldn’t care less about her well-being.
Aubrey was still alive and fine, and that was all that mattered, yet it was predictable of her.
"You are here, Arlo. Please don’t leave me again; never leave me again." Hazel’s voice sounded very desperate.
"I will be here; I will not go anywhere." Arlo pressed the button to lift the bed so Aubrey would be in a sitting position. She would feel better like this.
"Why did you keep ignoring me?"
"I am sorry." Arlo kissed her cheek. "The problem in the company is getting worse. I didn’t mean to abandon you."
Aubrey knew it was a lie, but she didn’t want to ruin this moment. Arlo was here, and she didn’t want to argue with him.
He was gentle and caring right now. This was all she had been longing for.
"How are you feeling?"
"I am feeling fine," Aubrey said in a small voice. She was still holding Arlo’s hand tightly. "Don’t leave me again." She repeated the words she said before.
"I will not leave you; I will stay here."
Aubrey thought Arlo had been there with her the whole night, but the truth was: Arlo just arrived an hour before she woke up, and it was her father who stayed the night with her.
Unfortunately, she was unconscious, so she didn’t know about that. Thankfully, Aubrey and their baby were fine. The doctor confirmed that.
When he got here, Arlo almost got beaten up by Arthur, since this incident happened because of Arlo’s negligence. He also reprimanded Arlo harshly, and Jack did the same thing.
And when morning turned into afternoon, Michael came with a backpack filled with clothes.
"Here." Michael handed the backpack to Jack. His father asked him to go to his brother’s house and grab some of his clothes because he was going to stay in the hospital until Aubrey was discharged.
"Give it to your brother. He will stay here."
Michael then entered the room and found Arlo was on his phone, while Aubrey was currently sleeping.
"Here; your clothes."
"Thanks," Arlo replied without even lifting his head from his phone; it seemed he just received an important text.
The two of them were still on the edge with each other since Arlo kicked him out of the house last time.
Michael was still bothered by what Arlo said when he was drunk. He didn’t understand how his brother could do that, or whether or not it was only his drunken state and it meant nothing.
But then he couldn’t confirm it; neither could he talk about this to his father, much less to Arthur. He couldn’t do that because this accusation was very dangerous.
It could shake the two families.
Michael was not stupid; he already could feel that the Barlowe and the Lozen families had a great tension between them after the things that happened among Arlo, River, and Aubrey.
"I will leave it here." Michael put down the backpack on the sofa and then walked away. But he glanced over his shoulder to look at his brother one last time, yet he still ignored him.
This was not the brother that he used to look up to. This brother of his was very cold and calculative. He didn’t even try to strike up a conversation with Michael.
Usually in the past, whenever they fought, it would only last for three days; but now Arlo didn’t have any interest in mending things between them.
Michael then opened the door, and he saw Arthur was about to enter. He stepped aside and let him go inside, and when the door was closed, Arthur started talking.
However, Michael’s curiosity got the best of him. He didn’t really close the door, so there was a little gap between it, which allowed him to eavesdrop on their conversation.
"You will stay here with her until she wakes up. Even after that, you will stay by her side. Taking responsibility is not only about marrying her or lifting her status to be your fiancé." Arthur felt this disgust in his throat when he said that. If he could, he really wanted to put a bullet in Arlo’s head or strangle him to death.
"I know, but I will do it after tomorrow." Arthur was enraged.
"What do you mean after tomorrow?! I want you to stay here from this second until she feels better. She is like this because of you!"
Arthur could see clearly that the stress that Arlo put on Aubrey was too much, and that’s why she finally collapsed.
"No, this is not because of me." Arlo denied it. He shook his head. "She is like this because she has been thinking about unnecessary things. But yes, I will take responsibility for it."
Arthur gritted his teeth. The statement that Arlo made was impertinent.
"You are not going anywhere!"
"I can’t do that. Tomorrow is the Leighton and the Rose family wedding, and I have received the invitation."
I don’t care about the fucking invitation!" Arthur growled angrily. "Is the wedding more important than your woman and your baby?! Your fiancé?!"
"I didn’t say that." Arlo was very calm. He responded to Arthur’s anger composedly. He put away his phone and looked him directly in the eyes.
The coldness that Arthur carried was unnerving. "I don’t care about the wedding. You are going to stay with Aubrey." His voice was low and dangerous.
And right at that time, someone tapped Michael’s shoulder. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh, Father... I am... I am going out; I will go home now." Michael stuttered a bit, and then he rushed away. He didn’t want to answer more questions.
On the other hand, Jack heard the yell inside the ward, and this woke Aubrey up, which only complicated the situation.
"What is it? What’s going on here?" Jack asked as he stepped inside the ward.
Aubrey woke up with a start; she looked around and was confused because her father was screaming at Arlo while the latter was very stoic; he was still sitting down next to her bed, holding her hand.
And Jack came into the picture.
"What happened here?" Aubrey asked. Her voice managed to make her father stop yelling at her fiancé.
Arthur looked livid; his face darkened, and he tried to hold back. "You are not going anywhere tomorrow."
"Where are you going?" Aubrey immediately asked Arlo; she was scared. She looked at him with teary eyes. "You promise me you will not leave me. You swear that you will never go anywhere!" Aubrey held on to Arlo’s hand tightly, as tight as her weak body allowed her.
There was a moment when Arlo thought he loved this clingy side of Aubrey since he wouldn’t get it from River, but now he could see how tiresome it was.
