Unexpected Marriage With Mr. Leighton: Rebirth of the Villain-Chapter 126: THE MOTHER OF MY CHILD
Chapter 126: THE MOTHER OF MY CHILD
"I need time to think about everything," Olivia said. All the information that she just heard from Marcus crammed in her mind. She couldn’t think straight, and for a moment she thought her brain was going to explode.
"I will drive you back home." Marcus was still unable to look Olivia right in the eyes. He was ashamed.
"No, there is no need for that." Olivia stood up. Her mind was trying to process everything. Her body was shaking, but she didn’t realize that; yet, Marcus saw it.
"You are in shock." He pointed it out. "It will be dangerous for you to drive. I promise I will not do anything. I will just drive you back."
And Marcus kept his promise. He drove her back to her apartment and immediately left. On their way back, neither of them said anything. It was very quiet inside the car, but it was so loud in their mind.
"I didn’t mean to traumatize you. I didn’t mean to hurt you, but I understand if you can’t accept me back. All I can say is that I am sorry. I am really sorry."
And with that, Marcus closed the door, leaving Olivia in her own apartment, struggling with her own thoughts.
For a long moment, Olivia stared at the closed door until a phone call startled her. It was Lyle; he was checking on her as usual.
"Where have you been?" Lyle asked, "Something happened?"
Olivia couldn’t tell him the truth.

The tension heightened; even though Laurel joined breakfast and dinner now, she didn’t say anything if it was not necessary.
She didn’t ask about how James’s day was and how school was for Carl. She never brought up the fact that she found the drug in his bedroom again.
There was no follow-up from Laurel on whether Carl was still using the drug or if he had stopped. It was clear to see that she didn’t care, and she didn’t hold back to show that.
Until one night, Carl knocked on the guest bedroom door where Laurel stayed. She still refused to sleep in the main bedroom because the thought of being touched by James repulsed her.
"Can we talk?" Carl asked sheepishly. He waited for a while and then knocked again. "Please, Mother. There is something I want to tell you."
He waited for two more minutes before Laurel finally opened the door and faced her stepson. She stepped aside and let him in.
"Mother... I am sorry." Carl lowered his head. He didn’t dare to look at her. "I am sorry for what I have done. I know I am wrong, but I swear, I have never touched the drug."
Laurel sauntered into the room and sat down in her boudoir, starting her night care routine. It felt so cold and emotionless; it was even worse than Carl predicted.
"Only that?" Laurel asked when the silence stretched out for long. "If there is nothing else, you can leave."
Carl swallowed hard. "Can you... reconcile with Father? Father looks miserable. Don’t you think you are angry too long with him?" freewēbnoveℓ.com
Laurel stopped what she was doing; she stared at Carl through the mirror impassively. Just a day after they returned to their home from the wedding, Carl asked for her permission to have a sleepover in his friend’s house.
Before this, Laurel would never find it weird, but she had heard his conversation with his father in the car the night before.
That same night, James told her that he wouldn’t come home because there was a business he needed to take care of since it was postponed because of the wedding.
She knew where they had gone.
"Is there anything else that you want to apologize to me for?"
"I am sorry for having a drug, but I have never used it."
"If there is nothing else, you can leave."
Laurel had asked to speed things up with her lawyer, and soon enough, she would have the divorce paper with her to end all of this madness.
"I am sorry, Mother..."

After a shopping spree in the afternoon and sitting idly at the beach, followed by a delicious meal for their dinner, Hazel was sleeping peacefully while Ranon was making a phone call to Ares.
"Are you serious?" Ares sounded surprised by Ranon’s order. "Why do you want to do that? That will not give any benefits to you."
"Just do it."
"Ranon." Ares’s voice sounded wary. "What kind of madness are you into right now?"
Ranon didn’t reply to the question immediately; he simply stared at Hazel, who was sleeping on the bed. Just like the previous night, she was only wearing her undergarment. What a tease...
This habit of hers gave him a headache, especially when she became very comfortable being naked in front of him.
It didn’t mean he minded it, though...
"Not madness." Ranon walked towards the bed and played with her soft locks. "I am holding a grudge."
"Do you fall for her?" Ares asked cautiously after a long silence. "It’s only a bruise." He remembered how Ranon used to be with Ema in the past, and he showed the same tendency now. "I am sure it was not intentional."
Ranon knew there was something more between Hazel and Arlo, though he couldn’t prove it. But just like Hazel said, there was no romantic feeling involved there, and he believed that.
He was not blind. It leaned more towards anger...
"Ranon, please rein back your obsession. You know this habit of yours is one of the reasons why Ema was scared of you." Ares might not phrase it nicely, but he really cared and worried for him.
Ema couldn’t handle his possessiveness and his overbearing nature; therefore, if Ranon indeed fell for Hazel, he didn’t want him to scare her away too with this bad habit of his.
"You are being overprotective again."
Ranon stared at Hazel’s sleeping face and twirled her locks between his fingers. "She is the mother of my child."
