Chapter 24: BEING AN INCONVENIENCE

"The money that you got from me will allow you to live comfortably with a baby until the baby grows up." Ranon crossed his arms; he saw the annoyed look in Hazel’s eyes when he countered her dramatic statement.

"What money?" Ares and Lucian looked at Ranon and Hazel back and forth, yet the two of them ignored them.

"Fine." Hazel wiped her tears and then took her bag. "I will figure this out on my own," she sniffled and then walked out of the room.

Once she was outside, Hazel walked towards the elevator; she didn’t expect Ranon to chase after her, because it had happened before and he didn’t take the bait; thus, when the elevator door opened and she was about to enter, she was surprised to see Ranon; he walked past her and now they were trapped alone in this small space.

"Are you really pregnant?" Ranon asked. He crossed his arms, and his sharp eyes stared at her stomach, as if he could see what was inside.

"Why should I lie? You can take me to the hospital of your choice, and we can do a blood test. We can do a DNA test too when the pregnancy reached the required time."

No matter how bad of a liar Hazel was, for her to challenge him to take the test, she must be very confident with the result. More so, to be honest, Ranon didn’t doubt the baby was his. He remembered the bloodstain on the sheet from that night.

"Fine."

Hazel’s eyes lit up. "Are you going to marry me?"

"We will talk about that later. It’s too late. I have a busy day."

"Oh, okay." Hazel was happy enough with this progress. "Tell me when your free time is; I will find a hotel nearby this area."

"No. You will stay in my apartment."

Hazel raised both of her hands. "There is no need for that. I don’t want to be an inconvenience for you."

"What? We shared a bed, didn’t we? And we are going to share a child; how could you be more of an inconvenience for me?"

Suddenly, she felt this urge to scowl at him, but she chose to ignore his remarks. The thought that he was willing to consider marrying her was already enough; for now, she needed to think of what she needed to do next.

For now, Hazel needed to find out her family’s target, and she must kill Aubrey and Arlo before her pregnancy made her difficult to move and then divorce Ranon after she gave birth to the baby.

Great plan...

However, Hazel was well aware that the real execution wouldn’t be as smooth as her plan.

"Where is your sister?!" Greyson was livid with his two sons, especially Logan. Because he was the one who had taken Hazel out of the house.

"I don’t know; she didn’t say where she was going to go." Logan looked calm in the face of his father’s wrath. He was telling him the truth. He had asked Hazel where she was going, but she didn’t give him the answer, and he didn’t hang around the airport long enough to find out.

Now, he was glad that Hazel didn’t tell him, because seeing their father furious like this was amusing. Logan knew what would come next. It was a harsh slap that forced him to stumble, and the room spun around.

"How could you be so careless?! Your sister is pregnant, and she left without saying anything! What if someone else saw her and recognized her?!"

"So what?" Logan groaned; his jaw hurt so bad, but it was not something new; the three of them had felt his backhanded slap more than once, especially Logan; he received it more than Dylan and Hazel combined. "Are you upset because people will know how shitty of a father you are?"

"Shut up, Logan!" Dylan snapped at his younger brother.

"You don’t get to tell me to shut up, Dylan." Logan straightened his back and looked at his brother mockingly. "I will say what I want to say."

"SHUT UP, BOTH OF YOU!" Greyson roared; he threw a dagger look at Dylan and Logan, rendering them quiet.

"Find her. Find her now!"

Both Logan and Dylan left the room. Greyson still had not yet said anything about Hazel’s pregnancy. He had not yet decided what to do with the baby and what he was going to do to Dylan for bringing this trouble to their house.

"You are so nasty, Dylan. Don’t you feel ashamed of yourself?" Logan scowled at Dylan. "You pawn your own sister to a stranger."

Dylan glanced at him with disgust. "I have a goal. You will not understand. Sometimes, I envy your freedom. You live like you don’t have any responsibilities. Don’t you feel ashamed of latching onto the family’s money?"

Logan was enraged when he heard that. He pulled his hand back and threw it forward, but Dylan saw it and stepped aside; he raised his leg and kneed Logan instead.

"Contributing nothing and taking everything," Dylan stated. "Don’t you feel ashamed of yourself? Take care of your life first before you try to take care of mine."

Logan bent his body; he wondered if this bastard had broken his ribs.

"Every family member needs to contribute to the family; Hazel has done her part. You need to do yours now."

After giving a lesson on life, Dylan walked away, leaving Logan cussing him out.

He needed to find out where Hazel had gone. He didn’t expect her to act like this. She had been acting so weird recently. She was not like the sister that he knew.

Usually, Hazel wouldn’t have talked back to him, let alone glared at him with hatred and smashed a vase against his head.

Dylan couldn’t understand her change; neither could Greyson.

Greyson stayed in his office until morning, staring at his late wife’s picture on top of his office desk.
