Chapter 41: STRESSED HER OUT

"Thank you for the bag," Hazel yawned. She liked it better than her pink one.

"Can you call me back later?" Ranon asked in his business-like voice. "I am in the middle of a meeting."

Hazel scrunched her nose. "If you are in the middle of a meeting, you shouldn’t have picked up my call, and silence your phone." And after saying that, she cut the call and sent a message to thank him for the bag.

However, after she ate her late breakfast, she sent Ranon articles about pregnancies and videos about women giving birth.

At first, she did it purely because she wanted him to know and was well aware of what she was going to go through. But then, because there was no reply from him until evening, she bombarded him more with articles and videos.

At the very least, he could reply to her messages, right? But he ignored her, and now she was pissed.

This was childish. But at the very least, if she was going to push a watermelon out of her body, the least he could do was to educate himself a bit about her condition.

"Who is that?" Ares asked; he frowned at Ranon’s phone that kept buzzing. "Shouldn’t you check your phone?" He frowned at Ranon. He had been very silent after their meeting and glued himself to the monitor. ƒгeewebnovёl_com

"Hazel," he answered curtly.

"Don’t you want to see her message?" Ares tilted his head when the phone buzzed again. "From the sound of it, it seems urgent."

"No." Ranon furrowed his brows. He massaged his temple.

"Are you okay? You look off."

Instead of answering his question, Ranon simply waved his hand. "You can leave."

"Are you sure you’re okay?" Ares stood up, but Ranon pressed his voice, and he knew better than to pry further. Outside the door, he met Lucian and asked about Ranon’s weird behavior.

"I don’t know about that, but I think she finally got on his nerves." Lucian shrugged his shoulders; he didn’t have any idea about it either.

Meanwhile, inside the room, Ranon glared at his phone that kept buzzing, flooded with links to websites and videos. Not all videos about women gave birth.

This woman seemed to have fun annoying him like this.

Ranon saw the articles and read them after the meeting. But when the first video came and he watched it, the image was etched in his mind. There was no way he was being squeamish at the sight of blood, but it was different.

The pain and agony. That was the first thought that came to his mind, and couple it with the information from the articles that he read on how women tended to need to be sewn down there because the baby was too big or they needed to cut them to make a way for the baby, all the while they were awake.

Finally, Ranon reached his phone and typed only one thing after so many messages that Hazel sent him. She didn’t say anything, simply copy-pasted links to articles.

[We will do a surgery.]

That was it. The message was sent, but Hazel left her phone inside her bedroom when she ventured to the kitchen to find something to eat. One thing about this pregnancy: she would be starving in the middle of the night, she would ravish an entire pizza, and she was worried that she would gain weight and restrict her mobility before she could kill Arlo and Aubrey.

After all, she would need to run and move with agility if she was going to infiltrate the Barlowe family house and take Arlo down. Aubrey would be a bit easier.

However, what Hazel saw in the kitchen made her want to kill someone.

Right on the same table where she previously caught his brother having sex with one of the maids, she saw him doing it again.

Thankfully, she came early, so she was saved from seeing the main show. They were kissing passionately now. Logan had laid her down on the table, while the young maid wrapped her slender legs around his waist, ravishing his mouth.

Eww.

But before Hazel could retreat, the young maid opened her eyes and caught Hazel standing behind Logan and shrieked. She immediately pushed Logan away, too strong, which caused her to stumble back.

Hazel remembered this young maid’s name. Lori. She used to deliver food to her room before Renna returned.

"I am sorry, I am sorry," Lori said quickly, as she covered her breasts where her shirt had crumpled up. She immediately dashed out of the kitchen.

Meanwhile, Logan looked annoyed. He didn’t seem bashful at all to be caught in the middle of the action.

"What are you doing?" he asked, clearly irritated because Hazel ruined his fun.

Seriously, it should be her who was being irritated because he contaminated the kitchen. So, Hazel glared at him, which was enough to make him step back and give way to her when she walked past him.

"What? What is it?" Logan asked, being defensive. "We were just kissing. Don’t act prude."

Hazel gave him a side look. "Kissing? You were trying to fit her entire head into your mouth." She gave him a face. "I wonder what she sees in you anyway."

"What? I am handsome and rich."

"You are average and you are still with your parent."

"You are also living here!" Logan growled at her, fuming because she hit the nerve.

"I am still at school." Hazel turned around, she held a knife and this made Logan took a step back. Somehow, he was scared to see her holding a knife. Her vibe was off. She looked dangerous. "Besides, I am going to leave this house soon."

Logan seemed to remember that Hazel was going to get married. "So you are really pregnant, and you will marry that pretty boy?"

"Behave and watch your mouth."

"I am not a dog!"

"Then don’t bark at me!"

For a moment, Hazel thought Logan was going to hit her. She readied herself, but then he cussed her out and then stormed out of the kitchen, giving her the peace that she needed.

Hazel couldn’t understand what the problem with Logan was, it seemed he dedicated his life to cause trouble for their father and brother. He had good grades, but for some reason he chose to mooch off his family and refuse to make any contribution.

Once she was done making herself instant noodles, she went immediately to her bedroom and found Ranon’s last message. She snickered.

"I think I have traumatized him."

And for the next few days, Hazel was busy with her college and applied for a break for two semesters. She didn’t think she would come back. Once she was done with Arlo and Aubrey, she was not sure what she was going to do, but college was not on her bucket list. She had done it once; she was not going to go through the same headache again.

Hazel would occasionally call Ranon and ask about the interrogation, but he was tight-lipped. He only said that they were sent by the Lozen family, which answered the question that the Lozen family targeted him.

Knowing this, she was not sure whether she should be relieved or what.

"What the hell with these two people?" Hazel called Ranon one morning.

"I am in the middle of a meeting; call me back later."

This was not the first time he picked up her call in the middle of his meeting, even though she told him not to and to silence his phone. Usually, she was being understanding, but right now, Hazel was pissed.

"No, don’t you dare hang up this call!" Hazel growled. For a brief second, she thought Ranon had cut the line, but then he heard him excuse himself and for them to carry on with the meeting without him.

"What is it?"

"Why do you send me two bodyguards?"

"I am going to send you six, but Lucian talked me down that you will be upset, so I only sent you two. Should I send the other four?"

From the sound of it, Hazel could tell that he was smiling. He got back at her for annoying him with the articles and videos. She knew that this man was holding a grudge.

She should have kept sending him those annoying messages.

"No, take them back. I don’t want them. I can protect myself."

"I doubt that."

He threw a bait, and Hazel wouldn’t take it. He wanted to know what she was capable of, but she was not going to let him learn more than necessary about how different Hazel was now.

"Send them back, Ranon. I don’t need them. I only visited a place, my university; there is no use for them."

"I will decide whether they are useful or not, since you will be my wife; your safety is my responsibility, especially when you are carrying my child."

"Ugh! You are so annoying!" With the bodyguards, it would restrict her movement. "I will tell my father about this."

"Don’t bother; I have talked to him, and he said I could do whatever."

Right, Hazel should know that. As long as Ranon made Dylan his business partner, Greyson Rose had no qualms about what he was going to do to her.

"I read the article," Ranon said suddenly, which caught Hazel off guard because he changed the topic abruptly. "Anger and stress are not good for a pregnant woman."

"You are the one who angered and stressed me out!"
