Chapter 55: OLIVIA

Olivia’s green eyes shone brightly. Those eyes complemented her blue dress. She still looked as sophisticated as usual with arrogant air around her. She was not someone that you wanted to argue with, because she would make sure to crush you.

"Yes?" Hazel tilted her head, still maintaining her beautiful smile. She looked innocent.

"You are here to pick up River’s wedding dress, am I right?"

"Yes."

"So, what is your relation with River?" Olivia shook her head as if she just remembered her manners. "Pardon me, but can we talk in private in my office?"

Hazel was not sure why Olivia would even want to have a chat with her in private, but then she didn’t have any excuses to refuse that. And, her curiosity tickled her.

And while the two of them were going to Olivia’s office, her assistant prepared the dress for her.

The room was not very big, but there were a few scattered designs on the table. Olivia didn’t seem to bother to tidy up her working desk. Actually, she looked pretty proud.

Once in the past, she told River that she thought her messy office was an art itself. An art was supposed to be messy.

Well, either as River or Hazel, she didn’t know where Olivia came up with such nonsense, but she thought people saw art differently.

"You can sit anywhere, but please don’t move anything."

"This woman didn’t change at all," Hazel muttered under her breath.

"Pardon me?" Olivia tilted her head, confused.

"Nothing."

Olivia shrugged her shoulders and then sat on her favorite seat while Hazel was sitting across from her. She then asked the question that Hazel had expected after someone brought two cups of tea for them. Olivia didn’t drink; she always said that being drunk ruined her imagination.

"So, what is the relationship between you and River?"

"I cannot disclose it to you because River didn’t want anyone to know about it. She only asked me for a favor and not to ask anything else."

Olivia’s brows shot up, and then she snickered derisively. "Yeah, it sounds like her. Very arrogant, as if her life was full of secrets, and the other people were not important enough to know."

Hazel was tempted to snicker back at her. Well, it was an old habit between the two of them to bicker about something—about anything, even if there was nothing to bicker about.

"Let me guess, are you the one who will wear the dress?" Olivia asked, but it sounded like a confirmation. She looked genuinely curious. "Because as far as I know, the Leighton family and the Rose family would have a grand wedding on such short notice."

"Yes, it will be me who will wear the dress." Hazel replied without hesitation, but then to her surprise, Olivia shook her head. She refused.

"No, you cannot wear the dress. The dress was made for River. I cannot let you wear it." Her voice was assertive, as if she were talking to her subordinate.

This refusal surprised Hazel. This time it was her who raised her brows. "Why not?"

"The wedding dress was not made for you."

What kind of ridiculous answer was that? "Even if River said it’s fine for me to wear it? After all, this is her request."

"I cannot give you the dress."

"And what if River wanted to give the dress to me?"

"Are you sure she really wanted to give the dress to you? I remember how she made a fuss to buy that dress."

"She didn’t make a fuss." Hazel looked defensive. Seriously, Olivia made her sound like a child.

"You don’t know that." Olivia leaned his back and stared at Hazel seriously. "She needs to contact me and tell me directly that she wants to give the dress to you."

"I think she has contacted you, right? She sent an email, and your assistant has confirmed it."

"Yes."

"So?"

Why would this woman make things difficult? Hazel talked to herself; she didn’t expect this turn of events; she didn’t even want to see Olivia in person.

"Actually, I will not give you the dress because I have something to say to her."

"Well, you can tell me if there is something you want to tell her; I will make sure she knows about it," Hazel said impatiently. She didn’t have any idea what Olivia wanted to talk about. All of their conversation in the past few years only consisted of bickering over trivial things.

Meanwhile, Olivia shook her head. "No, I need to talk to her in person; only then will I give you the dress."

This annoyed Hazel so much because it felt as if Olivia was holding her dress as a hostage, even though she had made full payment for that. This woman always caused trouble for her.

"Well, you can tell me; I will let her know about it."

"No, unless I meet her in person, I will keep the dress."

There was something off, and Havel could feel it. "Why do you really insist on meeting with her? Are you two close?"

"That’s the weirdest thing I have ever heard. No. We are not even friends, but there is something important that she needs to know."

"What is it?"

"It’s not your problem."

Damn! This woman! "Don’t be ridiculous, Olive, she doesn’t have time for it. She is busy."

Olivia looked surprised when she heard that, and it was too late for Hazel to retrieve what she said since it had been out in the open and there was no coming back from it.

"Olive," Olivia said in such a reproaching tone, but right now she looked more confused than anything else. "What did you call me? Did you just call me Olive?"

That was how River used to call her because she had olive skin.

Olivia always thought River taunted her because of her skin color, but in truth, River was actually mesmerized by her skin tone. It looked so beautiful, and the color complemented her eyes perfectly.

However, Olivia misunderstood the meaning behind it.
