Chapter 91: MY FUTURE WIFE

The young generation was rather reckless in Renna’s eyes. Hazel should be more careful not to get herself into more trouble, but then she was still shocked when she learned that the baby she raised all this time was currently pregnant and she was going to get married very soon.

"Should I bring the first aid kit again?" Renna asked, looking for an excuse to come back again.

"There is no need for that. You can leave now."

Hazel wanted to chuckle to see the annoyance in Ranon’s eyes. Renna’s intention was rather obvious.

Leaving with no other choice, the old servant left the room. She closed the door behind her slowly. She was unhappy because she wanted to be sure that Hazel was fine. After her morning sickness, she looked rather unwell.

"And why do you look like you are in trouble?" Hazel sat down. The smell of the soup was very tempting. She wasted no time gobbling it up. Her stomach was empty.

Ranon sat down in front of her. The smell of the breakfast wafted in the air. Renna was actually nice enough to give Ranon a full breakfast, but she gave Hazel a slice of strawberry cake, aside from the warm soup that Ranon asked for before since that was all she wanted to eat for the past few days.

"Strawberry cake," Ranon remarked when Hazel finished her soup and went for her cake immediately. "You only eat that?" Ranon didn’t answer Hazel’s question.

"What? Strawberry cake? It’s good; don’t you dare even think to mess with my food again."

Of course, Ranon wouldn’t do that anymore. He had learned his lesson. He didn’t want to face Hazel’s wrath anymore after he ate her last piece of strawberry cake.

"So, tell me, is there a problem?" Hazel didn’t drop the topic. If Valerie were simply sick, Ranon wouldn’t make that kind of face.

Thankfully, in Hazel’s line of work, she must be in tune with her surroundings, especially with the subtle change of other people, because only then would she be able to learn whether this person was trustworthy or not. Or whether they had a hidden agenda.

That was why the subtle change in Ranon’s expression didn’t go unnoticed by her. In Hazel’s opinion, if it were something normal, Ranon wouldn’t be bothered.

"I have an important meeting," he said.

An important meeting? Hazel ate her strawberry cake blissfully. She looked at Ranon with a frown. "What kind of important meeting are you talking about here? Like important, very important. I thought all of your meetings were important."

"Why? Do you have any intentions to get more shares for my company too?" Ranon teased her because she was so eager to get her share from her own family’s company.

"Well, you can say that. You know, after our marriage is over, I am going to get five percent of your annual profit. You said it yourself, right? And we have a deal about that. Of course, I will be interested in the development of your company too. After all, if you gain more profit, I will gain more money as well," Hazel replied in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Don’t you think you can be a good businesswoman?"

Hazel chuckled when she heard that. "No, thanks. I don’t want the headache," she said lightly. "But I need money, and getting extra of it will always be welcome."

Ranon could only shake his head. He watched her eat.

"Hey, and then what is it? Are you trying to distract me and change the topic? You are not going to do that with me. What happened with this important meeting?"

Ranon then told her about the meeting with Rafael Scar. It was about their new collaboration.

"Rafael Scar?"

"Yes."

He was a businessman from Gharand City. And this would be their first collaboration together. Valerie had been handling the communication with the other party; therefore, her absence would be a little bit of an inconvenience, even though it was manageable.

Ranon didn’t know why, but he ended up explaining the situation to Hazel.

"Rafael Scar from Gharand City, the Blackthorn Company."

"You know him?"

Hazel blinked her eyes. "Of course, I know him. He used to be in the media often." She licked her lips and tilted her head. "My future husband, you are not the only famous man in this country, okay?"

Ranon’s lips curled when he heard that endearing word. "I know."

It was very obvious what Hazel was trying to do. She was being subtle; obviously people would know about the Blackthorn Company, but that was not what Ranon meant when he asked Hazel about him. Yet this woman before his eyes played innocent.

"You know him. What I mean here is, do you know something that I don’t?"

"How should I know something that you don’t?"

"Let’s say the Lozen family. Something like what you know about the Lozen family, for example."

Hazel smiled, and she ate her last piece of strawberry cake; she was enjoying it so much, and Ranon made a mental note to have strawberry cake whenever he was with her.

"Of course. I know some juicy information. Do you want to know about it, too?"

"What is the price?" Ranon talked straight to the point, and Hazel feigned to be surprised by the question.

"How could you talk like that? You are my future husband. Why are you talking about it that way?"

"So, you will help me voluntarily without getting anything in return?"

"Of course not. I want to get something from you. There are a lot of things that I want from you."

Ranon was speechless with her honesty, but it was way better than someone who lied straight to his face. "So, what do you want?"

"I don’t know yet, but I am sure I will need your help or your connection to help me with something."

Ranon thought it was fair enough; he still drew a hard line on what things he would help her with.

"So, what do you know about Rafael Scar?"

"This is very sensitive information. You can say this is top-notch information." Hazel lowered her voice to make it more dramatic. "That’s why the price for this will be very high. Can you afford it?"

"My future wife." Ranon used the same term as when Hazel called him earlier. "I have so much money and wide connections you can use."

Hazel liked the sound of it. "Is that a challenge?"

"You can say so."

And both of them smirked at each other. Probably, at this time, they realized they were really look-alikes.

If it were not for the arranged marriage, if their situation were normal, somehow, Hazel thought they could get along really well.

"So, actually, Rafael Scar had a deal with the Lozen family." Hazel started. "The Lozen family, on the surface, are running a transportation business, and Rafael Scar has been using that to ship off a lot of illegal things."

Hazel then beckoned Ranon with her finger, even though there was no one there to listen to their conversation, and it was rather ridiculous for her to whisper it.

Yet, Ranon actually bent his body and played along with her as Hazel told him about a few more pieces of information that she knew about Rafael Scars and his Blackthorn company. This information could be used to press that man and smoothen the deal between them.

"How do I know if the information is reliable and trustworthy?"

"Well, you can trust me. I am trustworthy."

"I doubt that."

"Hey, that’s an insult." Hazel furrowed her brows.

"Where did you get that information?" Ranon leaned back after he heard what Hazel said. He looked at his future wife; he was deep in thought.

"I can’t say that. I have my own source. You know, we have talked about this."

The more she hid things from him, the more he wanted to know; but he needed to plan his move cautiously, because this woman was unpredictable.

"Well, you can believe that, or you don’t want to believe that. It’s up to you. I will not force you." Hazel shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. "I am here to help you gain more money. The profit of your company will fatten my bank account too, okay? That’s all I care about."

"You are an opportunist." And he liked it.

"No, I am a realist." And Ranon liked it even more. "As a single mother, I need to secure my future just in case my baby has a difficult life."

Ranon raised his brows. What kind of difficult life was this woman talking about? That baby obviously would never be short of money at all.

But then Hazel explained her statement wisely, as if she was very serious about it. "You know, in this economy, it is so hard to look for a job."

"You don’t even need to get a job to live your life comfortably."

"Yeah, but the school is very expensive."

"And the last time I learned, I will be the one who will become the main caregiver for the baby, unless you change your mind and want to stay married with me."

Hazel ignored the last statement and changed the topic. "Why don’t you eat your food?"

Ranon smiled and then pushed his plate towards her. "Eat if you want."

"Are you sure?" Hazel pulled the plate closer towards her. "Well, if you insisted, don’t say anything about me getting fat because I eat too much." She peered through her long lashes.

Hazel was rather cautious with her weight now.
