Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 337: Seeing Zirou Again
"I'd say they're a bit stronger than the military. Come on, let's go inside and talk," Zhang Guodong said with a smile, leading Lin Kuang into the villa's main hall.
The hall was simply furnished with two sets of sofas and a television mounted on the opposite wall. There was not much else in the way of decoration, giving it a very simple yet grand and spacious feel.
However, a beautiful woman was lounging on one of the sofas. She was dressed in a white pajama set, through which her light blue underwear was faintly visible. Her ample chest was particularly eye-catching, and her long, slender legs were partially exposed, their fair skin captivating.
Her dainty, bare feet seemed to possess a strange allure. Of course, Lin Kuang was not the type to have a foot fetish. If he were, his eyes would have lit up as he exclaimed, "What a beautiful pair of feet!"
This beauty was none other than Zhang Guodong's daughter, Zhang Zirou. She was curled up on the sofa watching TV. When she heard footsteps, she assumed it was her father and turned around with a smile. Indeed, it was her father, but he had Lin Kuang in tow.
The moment she saw Lin Kuang, a blush crept onto Zhang Zirou's pretty face, and her normally cheerful and outgoing demeanor turned a little shy. "Dad, you brought a guest over! Why didn't you give me a heads-up?" she complained sweetly.
If I had known he was coming, I would have dressed up a bit. How embarrassing to be seen like this! Looking so messy, won't I give him a terrible impression?
"Ah, ahem. I forgot to mention it. Where's your mother?" Zhang Guodong said with a smile. Seeing his daughter's shy expression, he knew she still had a thing for Lin Kuang.
"Oh, Mom? She's upstairs doing the laundry. I'll go get her," Zhang Zirou said, her face flushing. With that, she stood up, slipped on a pair of cute puppy slippers, and turned to head upstairs.
In fact, after finding out that Lin Kuang already had a girlfriend, Zirou had considered giving up. But over the last few days, the image of him rescuing her had been impossible to shake, as if it had taken root in her mind. The more she tried not to think about it, the clearer the memory became, leaving her deeply conflicted. In the end, she simply decided to let things be and go with the flow. She never expected, however, that Lin Kuang would show up at her house this evening. His sudden appearance made her nervous, but even more so, she felt a shy and giddy excitement.
"Come on, Lin Kuang, have a seat. Zirou is always very casual and unreserved, so don't mind her," Zhang Guodong said with a smile as he sat on the sofa.
"It's alright, Uncle Zhang. Please, don't be so formal with me," Lin Kuang replied with a smile.
Having a beautiful woman around was certainly a feast for the eyes. At least, Lin Kuang thought so.
"Alright, we'll have a few drinks tonight. Later, I'll have your aunt whip up a couple of dishes. They're just simple home-cooked meals, of course, so I hope you don't mind," Zhang Guodong said with a smile.
"How could I? Uncle Zhang, you really don't have to be so polite. I'm happy with anything, as long as I can eat my fill," Lin Kuang said with a smile.
"Rest assured, making sure you eat your fill is a must. Otherwise, old Yang would have my head!" Zhang Guodong laughed heartily, clearly in a very good mood.
Just then, Tang Lingwen came downstairs. She was wearing casual clothes, and though in her forties, she had maintained her looks remarkably well, retaining a youthful charm that made her look like she was in her early thirties at most.
"Hello, Auntie." Seeing Tang Lingwen come downstairs, Lin Kuang quickly stood up to greet her.
"You must be Lin Kuang, right? Please, sit down, sit down! Make yourself at home; there's no need to be so formal. I still haven't properly thanked you for saving Zirou," Tang Lingwen said, her face all smiles. Her warm, gentle tone was very welcoming and put one at ease.
"Ahem, Auntie, please don't mention it. It was what I should have done," Lin Kuang said with a calm smile.
"Alright, we can save the thanks for later," Zhang Guodong said with a smile. "Lingwen, Lin Kuang is staying with us tonight. Go ahead and start on a few dishes. Later, I'll have Zirou get a room ready for him."
"Okay, okay, I'll get right on it. Lin Kuang, please make yourself comfortable while I go cook. Guodong, get some fruit or snacks for our guest," Tang Lingwen said, giving her husband a light nudge.
"Ah, right, right! Look at me, I completely forgot. Lin Kuang, you just sit tight, I'll go get you something," Zhang Guodong said, a little embarrassed.
"No, no, Uncle Zhang, please don't go to any trouble," Lin Kuang said, feeling a little awkward himself. Their family was so overwhelmingly hospitable that it was making him feel embarrassed.
"You just stay put. I'll be right back," Zhang Guodong said. With that, he and Tang Lingwen both left the room.
Just then, Zhang Zirou came back downstairs. She had changed out of her pajamas and was now wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt and white shorts. A pair of cute, white bunny slippers on her feet added to her adorable look.
Zhang Zirou shot a shy glance at Lin Kuang before walking over to him. "Mr. Lin, thank you for saving me," she said, her cheeks flushed.
Her voice was soft and pleasant, much like her mother's.
Inside, however, she was incredibly nervous, her heart pounding in her chest.
"It was nothing, really. And please, I should call you Zirou, right?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile, noticing the faint blush on her face.
"Mm-hm, just call me Zirou. By the way, my name is Zhang Zirou," she said, extending her slender hand.
Lin Kuang also smiled and stood up. "I'm Lin Kuang," he said, and their hands clasped.
"It's nice to meet you," they both said in perfect unison. After speaking, they caught each other's eye and shared an awkward laugh before letting go of their hands and sitting down opposite one another.
A hint of joy blossomed in Zhang Zirou's heart. She stole glances at Lin Kuang, unsure of what to say next.
Come on, Zirou, Zirou, aren't you usually good at talking nonsense? How can you be so tongue-tied now? You idiot!
"So, Zirou, what do you do?" Lin Kuang asked, unable to resist a smile at her adorable shyness.
"Huh? Oh! Me?" Lost in thought about how to start a conversation, Zhang Zirou was completely caught off guard by his question.
Seeing her reaction, Lin Kuang couldn't help but smile to himself. This girl is certainly interesting.
