Unrivaled Soldier in the City-Chapter 42: The Real and Fake Boss
It looks like I won’t have to waste too much time searching, Lin Kuang thought to himself as he reached the end of the woods.
A nearby mansion was brightly lit, with bodyguards constantly patrolling inside. This was obviously where Wang Yuan lived. A glance at the entrance confirmed the house number: eighty-five. With that thought, Lin Kuang scanned his surroundings and then vanished in a flash.
In the dead of night, Lin Kuang moved like a ghost—incredibly fast and utterly silent, as stealthy as a cat. In an instant, he reached the side of the villa. With a push from his feet, he hooked his elbows over the top of the wall and peered cautiously into the estate. Inside, over a dozen bodyguards paced back and forth, surveying the area. They left no apparent gaps; anyone who tried to enter would be spotted immediately.
Anyone else might have been stumped, but not Lin Kuang. If there was no way in, he would create one. After a moment of careful observation, he noticed a two-second window when the patrol routes of two separate groups of guards intersected. In those two seconds, a visual blind spot appeared. This was the opening he needed. That’s enough, he thought, remaining crouched on the wall, waiting.
The moment the two groups of bodyguards crossed paths again, Lin Kuang moved. His figure slipped into the estate like a ghost, appearing beside the villa wall without a sound. The entire maneuver took less than two seconds. The patrolling bodyguards noticed nothing, not even the slightest hint of anything amiss. Lin Kuang didn’t linger. He immediately circled around to the back of the villa and, like a gecko, began to scale the wall. His agile movements made it seem as if he were walking on flat ground.
Reaching a second-floor window, he pressed his ear against the glass. Hearing only silence from within, he slid it open and slipped inside. He found himself in a steamy bathroom that had clearly just been used. He moved to the door and listened intently. Hearing no sounds from the hallway, he cautiously opened it and peeked his head out to survey the scene. He was in a long corridor flanked by rooms. In front of one of the rooms stood two Black bodyguards in suits.
That must be the one, he calculated. It’s about fifteen meters away. I need to take them out instantly to avoid making any noise. Taking a deep breath, Lin Kuang launched himself forward. He moved like an arrow loosed from a bowstring, his speed astonishing. In a flash, he was in front of the two bodyguards.
Before they could even react, Lin Kuang’s hands shot out, his fists striking each of them in the throat. The force of the blows crushed their windpipes, killing them instantly. As their bodies began to slump, he caught them and gently lowered them to the floor. With that done, he opened the door and entered the room.
Inside, a naked man in his forties was writhing on the bed with two foreign women. The air was thick with lewd noises and a decadent stench. Lin Kuang acted decisively, knocking both women unconscious with swift strikes. He then seized the man by the neck. As he looked at him, Lin Kuang frowned. He realized this man was not Wang Yuan. Although they looked remarkably similar, their eyes were completely different. Wang Yuan’s gaze was cold and confident, whereas this man was so terrified he looked ready to piss his pants. This was definitely not the real Wang Yuan. An underworld boss like him might feel fear, but never to this pathetic degree.
"Speak. Where is the real Wang Yuan?" Lin Kuang’s voice was like ice.
The look-alike shook his head with difficulty, trying to signal that he didn’t know.
Lin Kuang sneered, lifted his foot, and stomped down, brutally crushing the man’s toes. The man’s face contorted in agony, his skin turning deathly pale. With Lin Kuang’s hand still gripping his throat, he couldn’t even scream. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Will you talk or not? Next time, it will be your fingers," Lin Kuang said flatly.
At this, the man nodded frantically. Lin Kuang released his grip.
"He... he’s next door, at number eighty-four. That’s his real place," the man stammered, his eyes darting away from Lin Kuang’s blade-like gaze. He didn’t dare say another word or cry for help, certain that Lin Kuang would kill him in the next instant.
"That’s more like it," Lin Kuang said softly, then killed the man with a single palm strike.
He stepped out of the room, dragged the two dead Black bodyguards inside, and quickly departed. Returning to the bathroom, he repeated his entry in reverse and slipped out of the villa. Long after Lin Kuang was gone, the mansion remained quiet. No one knew that the fake Wang Yuan was dead.
At the neighboring villa, number eighty-four, only a single light was on. The grounds were empty, giving it the appearance of an ordinary residence. Ignoring the front door, Lin Kuang scaled the walls again like a gecko. Once he reached the second floor, he opened a window and climbed inside. He left the room and moved toward the one with the light on. From within, he could hear the occasional deep growl of a man and the rapid, breathless gasps of a woman. His movements were as light and silent as a cat’s.
He kicked the door open and strode in.
The instant he burst in, the two people writhing on the bed separated. The woman who had been on top leaped up, stark naked, and aimed a powerful kick at him.
Lin Kuang was prepared. As her foot flew toward him, he shot out a hand and clamped down on her ankle. With a surge of strength, he used her own momentum to slam her brutally onto the floor.
THUD!
The woman’s head cracked against the hardwood, and she was knocked out cold—or perhaps killed instantly.
On the bed, Wang Yuan’s hand darted for the Desert Eagle he kept under his pillow. But before he could even touch it, Lin Kuang’s fingers were already wrapped around his throat.
Wang Yuan’s body went rigid, and he froze. He was utterly, profoundly shocked. The woman wasn’t just his lover; she was one of the top assassins in the country. Yet Lin Kuang had dispatched her with contemptuous ease.
