Upgraded: Rise Of The CyberKid-Chapter 50: The Statue
As they continued to move forward in the cave, they had this feeling that the cave was getting smaller as they moved forward.
And it noticeably was as the cave that all of them could easily pass through at once, now could only fit one person at a time.
Dexter was leading the group while holding the little cub which he later named Black as they moved forward with Eva behind him, Wilbert in the middle and Anthony and Richard behind.
The cave just kept on getting smaller and smaller to the extent they had to start crawling.
It was quite dark in the cave and visibility was pretty low.
"God I think we should go back, who knows how much smaller this cave can get." Richard suggested.
"No until we actually see the cave reach that small, do we move back." Dexter said and continued to crawl forward.
They had crawled into the cave now to an extent were they had to crawl on their bellies.
Soon Dexter finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel and crawled forward with greater vigor.
Then the cave opened up into an even bigger cave, but when Dexter looked at what was ahead of him he froze.
Eva followed behind and also froze by the sight in front of her.
Wilbert, Anthony and Richard also came out of the cave and had the same reaction.
Right now in front of them was a crowd of undead and they were bowing to a statue.
"Is this the statue you and your brother saw?" Dexter asked.
"No the one me and my brother found was a male." Eva said.
Dexter looked at the statue closely and realized that it was a female, it was dressed in a robe and was sitting cross legged on a podium.
"So what do we do now?" Wilbert asked.
Dexter did not answer him and just walked towards the undead bowing to the statue.
"Dexter what are you doing?" Richard asked fear written all over his face.
Dexter didn’t listen to him and just continued, he stopped in front of an undead and to his surprise it did not attack him.
This also surprised Eva and the rest, ’Why were the undead not attacking?’
’Why were they bowing to the statue?’
These were the thoughts that was going through everyone’s mind but they had no answer to them.
Dexter after realizing the undead were not attacking moved in between them as he headed to the statue.
When Dexter got close he found out that none of the undead were close to the statue, they gave it a full meter distance as they circle around it.
Dexter entered the meter space and walked towards the statue.
He lifted his hand and made an attempt to touch the statue but before he touched he heard a growl and looked back to see the undead looking at him with hostile eyes.
He removed his hands and they went back to normal, but when he brought it close to the statue they looked at him with hostility.
Dexter tested it for a while before he stopped, he did realize something.
It seemed that the undead could not come any closer than the one meter.
Dexter tested this theory as he touched the statue but all the undead did was look at him with hostility but they did not dare come close.
He removed his hand and they continued to to worship the statue, when he put his hand closer they looked at him with hostility, when he removed it they went back to worship.
After Dexter did it like five times and realized that they were not coming any closer than the one meter range.
Dexter stared at the statue confused as to why the undead were worshipping it but never came close.
Dexter decided to have a look around the statue to see if he could find anything out of the ordinary.
"What are you searching for?" Eva asked behind him.
"Anything unusual." He said and continued to search.
It wasn’t long before he found out that there was a red light coming out from behind the statue.
"Guys come have a look at this."
They all came over to Dexter’s side and saw the red light glowing behind the statue.
"What do you think it is?" Anthony asked.
Dexter didn’t answer and just put his hand on the statue and began to push.
The undead that only just looked at Dexter in hostility started to growl when he started pushing, but he ignored them and continued.
"Let’s help him." Eva said and moved forward to push.
The statue began to move from its position and that made the undead more and more agitated.
Dexter saw that there was a cave behind the statue.
He saw how angry the undead were looking and did not want to take any chances.
When he saw the space in the cave was big enough for all of them to pass, he stopped pushing and entered the cave.
As soon as they all entered, the statue closed on it’s own.
They all looked into the cave and found out what was giving it the red color, the cave was filled with red crystals.
They all kept on walking deeper into the cave.
"How did you know they wouldn’t have attacked if you pushed the statue?" Eva suddenly asked.
"I didn’t." Dexter answered calmly.
Eva was shocked by his answer but it was only for a moment.
It was uneventful until they came across a division in the road.
They could either go left or right.
"Which way do we go?" Wilbert asked.
They had two decisions either they all choose one side or they spread out.
"I think we should spread out, if you face any danger you just come back here." Eva said. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Ok we will follow your idea." Dexter said.
"Good, Wilbert, Anthony and Richard you guys go left, I and Dexter, would go right." Eva said.
"Hey that’s not fair you guys are...." Richard hadn’t finished what he wanted to say when he received a glare from Eva.
"Ok, we would go left." Wilbert immediately said to cover for Richard.
As they went left Richard used the opportunity to express his dissatisfaction.
"Why did you just accept it like that, they are stronger than us combined and they both going in one direction, leaving us to fend for ourselves."
"You idiot can’t you read the room, can’t you see that Eva wanted to be alone with Dexter." Wilbert said.
He didn’t know why, maybe she had a thing for him but that was not his concern, he just led his group deeper into the cave.
