Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Fighting the Mother

The mother of the cub roared at Dexter and the rest, but never seemed to get close.

As the mother roared, the cub would also growl in response.

Dexter realized that they might be talking to each other so he decided to let the cub go.

He dropped it on the ground and moved away hoping that the cub would run of to it’s mother.

They waited for a little while before the cub finally ran of to it’s mother, they all breath a sigh of relief, they had no idea how powerful the mother was and did not want to find out.

But the unexpected happened, after the cub ran to it’s mother, it growled a little and ran back to them.

Dexter, Eva, Wilbert, Anthony and Richard all froze in shock.

The cub oblivious to how they were feeling rubbed it’s head against Dexter’s leg affectionately.

This seemed to have pissed of the mother as she stared menacingly at Dexter and the rest and then.

ROAR

A huge sonic roar was heard as they were all pushed back by the roar.

Anthony and Richard could not hold their own and flew back, crashing against the wall.

Wilbert was struggling, Dexter could hold his own, it was only Eva the only person who didn’t seem to affected by the roar.

"Damn it, it is a level 5 beast." Wilbert remarked still struggling with the roar.

Dexter on the other hand was curious by what he said.

"Level 5 beast? What is that?’ Dexter asked.

"There is no time to explain, let’s just get rid of it first." After Eva said that, she rushed towards the mother.

The mother saw it’s sonic roar was not having an effect and changed attack.

It opened it’s mouth and a huge amount of black energy condensed in it.

Then

Boom

It released it at Eva, it moved at a speed that was as fast as light.

Eva barely got anytime to dodge before she was hit.

She flew back and hit herself across the wall.

She looked terrible as her face was pale and blood dripped from her mouth and nose.

"Man that Beast is powerful." Dexter said, but he knew if he had to get out of this he had to fight.

He had already seen the attack of the beast, so he was already mentally prepared.

He summoned his nano suit and rushed towards the beast.

The beast again opened it’s mouth, black energy condensed and then it released it.

Dexter had already expected this, he used his Advanced Prediction Skill to the max.

Everything slowed down visibly in his eyes, he saw mathematical equations floating around, it was him calculating the speed and angle of the object shot at him.

After all the calculations, Dexter had determined the best course of action and enforced it.

You know that saying, ’Mind is willing but the body is weak’ that was exactly what happened.

Dexter had already decided which way to go in a millisecond, but when he actually implemented the act, he body was just a fraction to slow and the black energy ball brazed his shoulder.

"Urgh.." Dexter let out shriek, he looked at his shoulder and saw that the nanotech was completely burnt and it also burnt his shoulder as well, deep enough to nearly see his bone.

Dexter now knew the power a level 5 beast had, but that was not going to stop him from continuing the attack.

Eva at this point had gotten up with much difficulty.

Wilbert moved forward to help, they had to try and get close to the beast.

Anthony and Richard also joined the fray as they rushed to attack the beast from all directions.

When the beast saw them attacking from all sides, it changed attack.

Instead of just standing there and shooting energy balls, it rushed at them, at an insane speed, though it was not as fast as the black energy balls, it was still fast.

The first person to be crashed into was Wilbert and he was sent flying.

Eva used the opportunity and jumped unto it’s back, bringing out a knife from nowhere with just a flick of the wrist and stabbing it at the beast.

To her surprise the knife barely even went in and it stopped.

The knife was lodged in the beasts scales and could not be brought out.

While Dexter was fighting the beast the interface popped up.

{ Emergency Task: Kill/Survive the Black Scaled Tiger }

Dexter had no idea what this Emergency task was but he did not think much of it and rushed into the fray.

The nano bots had already patched up the burnt place so he was good to go.

Wilbert, Anthony and Richard tried stabbing the beast many times but were clawed away, after they were clawed away, they would pick themselves up and rush back.

At this point it had been done so many times that they were lucky to be alive.

Dexter pushed all the useful skills to the max, but he could not damage the beast.

Eva was tired of this and went for the mental approach.

"Cover me!!" She said and sat in a cross legged position.

After that the beast seemed to have just stopped.

Boom

The head of the beast blew up.

Dexter felt a chill down his spine when he saw that, Eva had just killed this beast that they found difficult to kill just by entering it’s mind.

"Why was that beast so strong?" Dexter asked.

"It was a level 5 beast, it’s brain percentage is equivalent to about fifty percent, if you don’t have a brain percentage higher than that you can not fight it." Eva explained.

"But you also found it difficult to beat it?"

"That is because I did not use my skills."

Dexter seemed to understand but the others didn’t.

It was kind of a simple psychology, every time you reach a higher brain percentage, you can unlock a new skill, but the skills you had when you were at a lower percentage would still be there, so if your brain percentage is twenty and you unlock a skill with that brain percentage, then you later increase your brain percentage to fifty and unlock a skill in that brain percentage and happened to come across a beast with the brain percentage of fifty and you use the skill you unlock when your brain percentage was twenty, then you would be defeated.

It is as simple as that.

After the fight the cub moved towards the body of it’s dead mom, it seemed to realize that it was dead as it growled in pain.

Dexter and his group could not leave it like that and decided to carry it along.
