Chapter 785: Chapter 785: The Unfathomable Mystery of Xiang Yu

By the time Wu Yue saw Feng Lan’s delicate appearance, she had already confirmed that Feng Lan had fallen in love with Xiang Yu.

A fleeting, ferocious glint flashed through her eyes but was quickly replaced by a façade of normalcy, and she struck up a casual conversation with Feng Lan.

Xiang Yu and his two companions were confined to a pitch-dark room, presumably a basement. Darkness enveloped them, obscuring all sight, yet a piercing stench of blood reached their nostrils.

Especially Tie Zhuzi, who was particularly sensitive; his keen sense of smell felt like a curse in this instance.

"Bro Yu, I think we should call that kid Shi Jian. We’ve made it home only to be bullied like this," Tie Zhuzi complained.

"Don’t talk nonsense," Xiang Yu quickly cautioned.

They had indeed returned to City Number One, but others didn’t know that they had a stronghold even here.

Realizing his mistake, Tie Zhuzi clammed up immediately.

They were in darkness now, uncertain if they were being monitored.

The three men were bound and engaged in disjointed conversation. Time passed indeterminably until, suddenly, the basement light turned on, the harsh incandescent glare forcing them to shut their eyes tightly.

After what seemed like an eternity, they slowly opened their eyes to see Wu Yue standing rigidly in front of them. Wu Yue could be considered beautiful, yet she bore no trace of a woman’s softness in their presence.

Seizing the opportunity, Tie Zhuzi surveyed their surroundings, noting the emptiness and wondering at the source of the intense odor.

"Is this a slaughterhouse or something? What’s with the strong smell?" Tie Zhuzi frowned and said.

Wu Yue, taken aback, observed Tie Zhuzi and mused on the acuity of the boy’s nose. With all three men bound here, yet showing no trace of fear on their faces, they must have some kind of backup plan.

"Who exactly are you people and why are you getting close to Lan?" Wu Yue asked coldly.

Not knowing why, Tie Zhuzi turned his gaze to Xiang Yu.

"Lusting after her beauty," Xiang Yu said plainly.

Wu Yue had not expected Xiang Yu to be so forthright, which caught her off guard, provoking her to burst into an abrupt laugh. Then, she looked at Xiang Yu and said, "Do you confess so freely because you think I won’t let you go anyway?"

Xiang Yu nodded and simply said, "Yes," before staring directly at Wu Yue and adding, "You’ve been hurt before, but you can’t project your experiences onto others."

Stunned by his words, Wu Yue incredulously stared at Xiang Yu and asked, "Who on earth are you, and how do you know about my past?"

"Not all men are as bad as you think; there are also good men out there," Xiang Yu said calmly.

"I’m asking who you are, who?" Wu Yue suddenly pulled out a dagger from nowhere and pressed it against Xiang Yu’s throat.

Tie Zhuzi and the third companion panicked upon seeing this, forcefully trying to break free from the ropes. But the ropes were too thick, immobilizing them completely.

Xiang Yu retained his composed demeanor, showing no fear of death. He scoffed coldly, "Go ahead and kill me; you’ll never find out who I am."

Wu Yue clenched her teeth, her hand trembling, but ultimately she sneered and took a step back, "You want to die? It won’t be that easy. The more you wish for death, the less I’ll let it happen to you."

Just then, a loud shout came from outside: "Boss, there’s a situation outside, come take a look."

Wu Yue finally sheathed his dagger, looked at Xiang Yu and the other two, and said, "If you don’t reveal who you are, I’ll make your life a living hell." After speaking, he walked outside.

Because she was somewhat out of control, she forgot to turn off the lights.

All three of them breathed a sigh of relief when they saw Wu Yue leave. Especially Tie Zhuzi, who looked at Xiang Yu with a mysterious gaze and said, "Brother Yu, how did you know about her past?"

Xiang Yu also let out a long breath and replied, "I’m not a deity, how would I know about her past? I was just bluffing. Seeing how much she hates men, I knew she must’ve been hurt."

Tie Zhuzi and Xiaoxuan were both speechless. They had been fooled by Xiang Yu’s profound expression just now, thinking that Xiang Yu and this person had an unknown past. It turned out Xiang Yu was just spouting nonsense again, and this time, his nonsense had nearly cost him his life.

"It’s not a solution to always be tied up like this; we need to find a way to get out." Xiang Yu looked around for any tools they could use, but couldn’t find anything after a long search.

Meanwhile, Tie Zhuzi tried to break free from the ropes by mustering all his strength. But even straining as hard as he could, the ropes remained unbroken.

Exhausted to the point of collapse, Tie Zhuzi finally said, "Brother Yu, it’s no use, I can’t break free."

"Alright, it’s all up to me now. Time for my ultimate technique." After saying this, Xiang Yu suddenly shouted, "Feng Lan, come save me!"

Tie Zhuzi and Xiaoxuan both nearly fainted. Xiang Yu was joking, if Feng Lan could save them, she would have done it already. Besides, Feng Lan had no idea they were locked up here.

But to their surprise, Feng Lan actually appeared at that moment, opening the door and stepping inside. She looked around cautiously and, seeing no one, quickly approached them.

Tie Zhuzi and Xiaoxuan sat there with their mouths agape in disbelief, glancing back and forth between Xiang Yu and Feng Lan.

"What are you two gaping at? Why are you looking at me like that?" Feng Lan asked, puzzled, and then hurried over to untie Xiang Yu.

Xiang Yu coughed nonchalantly and said, "That’s called the voice carried over a thousand miles."

"What are you three talking about? Why so mysterious?" Feng Lan asked, not understanding.

"It’s nothing." Xiang Yu replied, then untied the other two and strode out confidently.

In that moment, Xiang Yu had already recognized Feng Lan’s footsteps, which was why he had been so certain. Even if Feng Lan hadn’t come, it wouldn’t have been a problem for Xiang Yu; he had a small knife blade concealed in his sleeve that could easily take care of the situation.

"Xiang Yu, be careful, don’t be so conspicuous," Feng Lan whispered.

Although Wu Yue was a good sister of hers, Xiang Yu and the others were also her friends. Wu Yue had a bias against Xiang Yu, which she couldn’t ignore, especially since it was she who had called for Xiang Yu.

"No worries, I bet they’re all busy right now," Xiang Yu said indifferently.

Sure enough, once the three of them went outside, they didn’t see anyone, but they could hear loud shouting and commotion in the distance, like there was a brawl.

"You guys get away from this place first, I’ll go check it out and then give you a call," Feng Lan said with furrowed brows.

Clearly, a fight had broken out ahead, and since Wu Yue was her close sister, she couldn’t just ignore it. Now that Xiang Yu and the others were free, she felt much more at ease.

"Hold on," Xiang Yu suddenly called out, "We’ll go with you."

"No, Wu Yue has a bias against you guys right now. If you go over there, you’ll definitely get caught again, and then I’m not sure if I’ll be able to save you," Feng Lan said, clearly worried...
