Since he had made a decision, Li Feng immediately turned around, but instead of returning the way they came, he headed south at a ninety-degree angle.

Li Feng dismounted and instructed Zi Yan and Xiao Luobing to wait where they were. He crafted a ghillie suit using nearby grass and ran towards the direction of the wailing trapped cow.

Li Feng chased away the predators and approached the trapped cow. The cow was covered in blood from the attack and hadn't died only because of its large stature and thick hide, sustaining merely superficial injuries.

But lingering here, it would sooner or later become a meal for the predators, as the wilderness breeds many formidable Demon Beasts.

Li Feng searched nearby; the racks on the cow were still present, but all important items had been taken away, leaving a few wolf cubs and other young beasts that were also carried off.

"Did you find anything?"

Having waited in place for ten minutes without any movement, Zi Yan and Xiao Luobing couldn't restrain themselves and rode over on their Pegasus, seeing Li Feng squatting on the ground, Zi Yan asked.

Li Feng stood up.

"The other side abandoned the trapped cow, took most of the valuable young beasts, but left behind some food and tents."

"The two injured individuals were also taken, not abandoned."

"Excluding the deceased Pei Lang, there are six people, Qin Hu has a mount, but Zhao Sun and Ran Yue do not. What they can ride are the three Earth Bao Xiong."

Both the Earth Bao Xiong and Winged Tiger are carnivorous Demon Beasts, ingesting a lot and producing easily identifiable dung.

"Uncovered anything?"

Xiao Luobing pinched her nose and looked at Li Feng, who was examining the dung.

"Qin Hu was here last night, probably chased a bit but didn't catch us, so he returned, or he simply didn't pursue."

"Let's keep following; I doubt they'll expect us to strike back and follow them."

Patiently, Li Feng continued leisurely across the wilderness, occasionally checking his bearings to ensure they weren't lost.

The Earth Bao Xiong's tonnage left distinct paw prints after traveling, especially since its habitat isn't in plains, making the prints unmistakable.

The second day.

When Li Feng and the others once again located the Hunting Group's campsite, Li Feng squinted and smiled.

"Your smile is so devious."

Xiao Luobing remarked upon Li Feng's cunning grin, as Zi Yan also commented, "Has Qin Hu left?"

"Yes, there was no Winged Tiger dung in the campsite today, so most likely Qin Hu has gone ahead."

Zi Yan then pulled out a map and glanced at the markings.

"Indeed, Qin Hu likely headed straight for the Great Rift Valley on the wilderness, marking it like a sword cleaving through, rumored as the result of a mighty blade splitting the earth."

"East of the Great Rift Valley lies few inhabited regions, a sanctuary for Demon Beasts, while heading west enters Ancestor Dragon City's territory, with estates and manor homes along the way."

"There are also permanent troops stationed from Ancestor Dragon City here, not just temporary outposts."

"Once we cross the Great Rift Valley, the Hunting Group would have to consider the consequences of pursuing us, so they'll definitely try to intercept us there."

"I imagine they expect us to hurry towards the Great Rift Valley since crossing is the safest option."

Zi Yan pointed at a canyon marked on the map.

"Yes, the Great Rift Valley runs north-south; bypassing would add two to three thousand miles at least, which isn't worthwhile."
