Villain Ch 1192. Guild Leaders on The Run [Part 4]
Mastercraft took a sip of his drink, looking as if he'd seen it all. "People jump ship all the time in this game. Loyalty is a luxury most can't afford, especially if there's a chance to climb ranks faster."
Allen glanced at Elio, raising an eyebrow. "Honestly, I thought you were going to end up with Sophia. I mean, back in the early game, you two were inseparable."
Elio visibly cringed, as if the thought itself was repulsive. "Don't remind me. I'm just grateful I dodged that bullet." He tossed back his drink in one gulp, letting out a dramatic sigh. "I can't even imagine if I'd ended up in that… toxic relationship."
Arcana laughed, eyeing him with a mixture of amusement and concern. "You sound traumatized, man." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
Elio didn't even try to deny it, nodding fervently. "I am traumatized, and I have every reason to be." He leaned forward, his tone turning darker. "You know my old team? Liam and Darren?"
Allen gave him a sideways look. "Yeah, they were my ex-teammates, too."
Elio nodded. "Right, our ex-team too. Well, they decided to follow Sophia. And Jacob joined them, too. They're all part of the Arcane Wardens guild now."
Arcana's brow furrowed. "Who's Jacob?"
Elio smirked, though it held no humor. "INeedAHotGF."
Arcana cringed, visibly taken aback. "Seriously? His naming sense is… something else."
Father^Alex shook his head slowly. "So, they just… betrayed you? Left you behind?"
Elio shrugged, though there was a bitterness in his eyes. "I knew they would. I saw it coming from a mile away. Liam and Darren were always looking for an excuse to jump ship. I kept them around because, well, they were decent players. But the second Sophia offered them a shot at Arcane Wardens, they didn't hesitate."
Allen smirked, taking a slow sip of his drink. "Yet I still see you here, unscathed. Guess they underestimated you."
Elio chuckled, leaning back in his chair. "Yeah, well, let them have their new guild and their 'rising star' leader. The way I see it, they're just looking for shortcuts. They're willing to betray anyone to move up a few ranks."
Mastercraft leaned in, intrigued. "I mean, was it really that bad? Sounds like there's more to the story."
Elio gave him a hard look. "Trust me, you don't want to get involved. Sophia's not exactly the type to hold back. The way she plays… It's all about manipulation. If you're on her side, she'll treat you like royalty. But the second you're not useful? She'll toss you aside without a second thought."
Arcana whistled, impressed. "So, you're really dodged a bullet, huh?"
Elio nodded, his eyes darkening as he remembered. "Big time. I didn't realize it at first, but looking back? Every move she made was calculated. She wanted loyalty, sure, but only as long as it benefited her. When Liam and Darren left, they didn't even say a word. Just packed up and joined her new guild like it was nothing."
Father^Alex sighed, sympathy in his eyes. "Must've been hard. Having your teammates just… disappear like that."
Elio shrugged, though the bitterness still lingered in his eyes. "Honestly? After everything, it's better this way. I'd rather have a team that's loyal, even if they're a little rough around the edges right now. I don't need a bunch of fair-weather players who'll turn on me the second someone offers them a better deal."
Arcana leaned forward, intrigued. "I'm actually a little surprised you're telling us all this so casually. Aren't you worried one of us might take advantage of the situation? Maybe ally with them?"
Elio raised an eyebrow, meeting Arcana's gaze without a hint of hesitation. "If you want to, go ahead. You know the risks. They're not exactly the most stable allies."
Arcana chuckled, raising his hands. "No thank you. I think I'll pass on that particular headache."
Elio sighed, nodding. "Yeah, that's what I figured. Anyway, I've already found replacements. They're not quite as strong as Liam, Darren, Jacob or Sophia yet, but they're trying to improve. And that's what matters. I'd rather have people who want to learn than those who think they're above everyone else."
Red_King reached over, giving Elio's shoulder a supportive pat. "Good for you, man. Getting a fresh start with players who actually care about the team—it'll make a difference."
Arcana shifted his gaze to Allen, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "And you? Don't you have anything to say? After all, you both just got betrayed by the same people."
Allen shrugged, a smirk playing on his lips. "What's there to say? Welcome to the club, I guess. Betrayal seems to be a rite of passage."
Elio let out a short, humorless laugh. "Guess you're right. Kind of comforting in a twisted way. At least I didn't get in too deep with Sophia before things fell apart."
Allen raised an eyebrow, giving him a sympathetic look. "Lucky you. Dodging that bullet seems like a blessing."
Elio winced, looking slightly embarrassed. "Yeah… I mean, it could've been worse. We didn't get to that point where things were… complicated. Guess I really am lucky."
Mastercraft leaned in, clearly invested in the conversation. "Gotta admit, though, it's kind of a good lesson, don't you think? I mean, Hell's Gate is ruthless. You can't trust everyone who smiles at you."
Arcana chuckled, shaking his head. "True. You might make it to the top on your own, but staying there? That takes a different kind of trust. One that's hard to find in a game like this."
Father^Alex sighed, leaning back in his chair with a hint of exasperation. "You guys make it sound so dark. Isn't this supposed to be fun?"
Elio and Allen exchanged glances before they both turned back to face Alex.
Elio leaned forward, his expression serious. "Alex, it's not just about the game. The betrayals, the manipulation—it's not just in Hell's Gate. Sophia, Darren, and Liam? They didn't just stab me in the back here. They did it to me in real life, too."
