Chapter 32: 32. Mana Theory

Usually, getting dressed was a quick affair for him. As long as he looked decent, Licht was happy to just slap something on and step outside.

But things were different now. He was in this new body—this body that no longer allowed him to be careless.

Appearance was everything to Licht D Valtier

For him It wasn’t about attractiveness or beauty. No, it was about dignity.

A Valtier had to look like a Valtier at all times.

Appearance was only the most basic requirements

For that reason, Licht’s uniforms must be ironed flawlessly. His wardrobe had to be properly organized and color-coded. Even the shoes he wore were perfectly measured and designed.

When Licht came back and saw his gargantuan wardrobe of clothes that had been clearly prepared and arranged weeks in advance—he wasn’t even surprised anymore.

By knowing He knew better than anyone: the man known as Licht D. Valtier was an unapologetic psychopath.

「A Valtier’s Pride (S)」made sure Licht wouldn’t be allowed to settle for anything less than the best

So Once he was done double- and triple-checking that everything was perfect, Licht finally stepped out of his room.

Walking out his dorm Licht pulled out his phone to check his first class of the day.

Basic Principles and Mana Theory.

It was a simple theory based class that involved no practical combat whatsoever. Since it was the first lecture Licht was certain there would be no problems with this class

Licht was just starting to get into a better mood when—

Bump.

Licht felt a force hit his chest and scowled.

’Fuck, I’m going to have to fix my uniform again, aren’t I?’

As Licht was complaining he looked down to see the culprit to see a scrawny-looking kid with bright red hair.

’It’s that kid from earlier,’ Licht realized. ’The one who bumped into me when I was taking the tour of the facilities’

The kid recognized Licht too.

To be fair though, everyone recognized Licht. Thanks to his ridiculously arrogant behavior at the entrance ceremony, he was now the most talked-about student at the academy.

Most people thought he was just some arrogant, grumpy prick. But Riven didn’t think so.

Last time they’d bumped into each other, Licht had been surprisingly chill. Maybe this time would be the same.

"Hello, Licht—"

But before Riven could continue, a cold voice froze him in place.

"Move."

Looking up, Riven saw a deep pair of violet eyes—colder than the abyss.

With just a glance, a shiver ran down his spine.

He didn’t linger. He moved out of the way immediately.

Licht could tell the kid who had bumped into him was being polite—maybe even trying to be friendly.

But so what?

After what had happened yesterday, any delusions he might have had about this new life had been shattered completely.

He wasn’t a hero. He wasn’t even a main character.

He was a low-level villain, and his fate had already been sealed. If that was the role he’d been given, then he might as well live like it.

Friends?

Those were a luxury he couldn’t afford. Not anymore.

Besides, that red-haired kid would be better off staying away from him.

With those thoughts drifting through his mind, Licht continued toward his classroom, not sparing poor Riven another glance.

Though he wasn’t late, several cadets were already seated, chatting and joking among themselves. But the moment Licht opened the door, everything stopped.

The room fell silent. Conversations died mid-sentence as every head slowly turned to face him.

Your Trait 「A Valtier’s Pride (S)」has been activated.

Licht didn’t care.

Without sparing anyone a glance, he walked to a seat in the back corner and sat down, quiet and composed.

But even as he sat down the gazes still kept coming. Licht didn’t mind being hated—but he despised being stared at like some exotic beast in a zoo.

"Hmph."

With that, Licht’s mana stirred as a single cold snort escaped his lips.

To him it was a just a breath of annoyance but to everyone else, it was like the crack of thunder.

Many students suddenly remembered horrific state Licht had left Charlotte in after their duel and quickly looked away, ashamed at their own excessive curiosity.

But that was not all the students.

To some of the stronger cadets, Licht’s cold indifference came off as arrogance, making them feel like they were being looked down on once again. The tension in the room thickened.

Their narrowed eyes followed Licht’s every move and Just as it looked like the mood might turn volatile, the classroom door swung open once more.

Next, a composed, middle-aged man in a dark suit stepped in.

"Greetings, class. All students, take your seats and end your conversations. Class is now in session."

Hearing this the cadets quickly realised who this was and straightened up, the atmosphere shifting away from Licht entirely.

Seeing this sight, the instructor smiled as he began

"For those who have reviewed the timetable," the instructor continued, "you’ll know that today’s lecture covers Basic Mana Theory."

He moved to the centre of the room, placing his binder on the front desk as he began

"Mana is the ambient flowing energy that permeates through the entire world. For our society It is the heart and the fuel of everything."

Some students leaned forward. Others scribbled notes. Licht didn’t even blink.

"At the core of this course is understanding the intricate nature of mana, particularly its most elusive trait: Mana Frequency."

The instructor let the words settle before continuing.

"Mana Frequency is the resonance and the rhythm at which mana flows within and around us. It is not fixed. It shifts, breathes, and adapts."

He began drawing strange flow diagrams on a floating screen behind him.

"Humans can control mana because our individual Mana Signature subtly alters the ambient frequency. In other words, each person has a unique mana resonance."

"Drawing mana into the body is a process of aligning your internal signature with the external frequency of mana, harmonizing with it so you can absorb and reshape it."

Once mana enters the body, it becomes unstable—shifted by your personal signature. That distorted, personalized energy becomes your own mana."

He paused, looking across the classroom.
