Villain's Survival: SSS Class Infinite Copy Eyes-Chapter 37. Beat down
Chapter 37: 37. Beat down
"No" he said
"It’s because I want to help these kids that I can’t give up."
Riven knew his talent. He was struggling to keep up with the other cadets as is; if he ended up giving away half of his resources every week, he would be finished!
Seeing Riven still stubbornly refusing, Thane clenched his fists in frustration
"Riven, you just don’t get it. I’m not just bullying you, I’m trying to help"
But before he could finish, a new voice cut in.
"What’s going on here?"
Both Riven and Thane froze.
Riven turned toward the alley’s mouth and felt the blood drain from his face as a daunting figure stepped into view
It was Cole.
He was a massive, square-faced man with a perpetual smirk carved into his face.
At the same time, his name was one that carried weight amongst the first years and not because of his rank, but his role
Enforcer.
For those stubborn first years that still refused to hand over their resources, he would be the person sent over to handle things more diplomatically
Cole approached, flanked by a wiry, narrow-eyed figure lighting a cigarette.
It was James. The second member of the enforcer duo.
Cole approached them didn’t even glance at Riven.
He stopped in front of Thane and dropped a heavy hand on his shoulder.
"Thane, I’m not gonna lie—I’m disappointed."
Thane’s mouth opened, but no sound came out.
"You were doing such a good job collecting from the others. You used to be so Smooth and efficient So... what happened?"
James lazily watched on from the side, taking a long drag of his cigarette, exhaling a long trail of smoke that coiled around him like a lazy serpent.
"Didn’t you say you wanted to meet the boss?" he said with a crooked grin.
"’Cause with this kind of performance...Yeah. That’s not happening."
"I-I’m sorry, Cole," Thane stammered. "I’ll get the resources right now—"
Cole lifted his hand.
"No need," he said, cracking his neck. "I’ll take care of it."
Before Thane could even object, Cole’s massive hand shot out in a blur, palming Riven’s head like a basketball and slamming him ruthlessly into the wall—
Bang!
Stretching his arms, Cole cracked his neck with a lazy smirk as he strode forward.
"You know, redhead, kids like you show up every year."
"They think getting into the academy means they’ve turned their whole life around. So even when they’re staring down an unstoppable force, they refuse to quit. They think as long as they stay firm, grit and hard work will save them."
"Fools like them don’t realise how stupid they are until they’re knocking on death’s door." freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Riven barely registered the words Cole was saying to him.
His ears wouldn’t stop ringing as blood trickled from his temple, clouding his vision. Still, even with all that, Riven somehow managed to stagger to his feet and raise his fists in a shaky guard.
Cole’s smirk deepened.
"You still want to fight? How cute~"
With a sudden stomp, Cole launched himself forward.
Riven tried to track Cole’s attack, but all he could see was a grey blur as it slipped through Riven’s pitiful guard and buried itself in his solar plexus
-Bang!
Riven’s eyes went white and glazed over as he felt all the breath in his body vanish. His body folded like a sheet of paper as he dropped to his knees, choking out a mouthful of blood in the process.
As this was happening, Cole didn’t waste a moment and grabbed Riven by the hair, hoisting up his limp body as if he were a broken toy doll.
"I’ll ask one more time," said Cole
"Are you going to give up the training resources?"
"I’m not... I’m not giving them up," croaked Riven
Before the words could even finish leaving his lips, Cole’s knee rocketed into Riven’s face!
-Crack!
There was a sickening crunch as Riven’s nose crunched under the impact, causing his body to flip through the air before hitting the ground with a wet thud.
When Thane heard this, his jaw clenched as his body flinched
Friends, huh?
There was A time when he seriously thought of Riven that way, and that’s why he had also tried to help him out and stop him from facing Cole. But why was that boy so fuckig stubborn?
Thane was so absorbed in thought that he didn’t even realise that he instinctively took a step forward. But all this stopped as a hand landed on his shoulder.
"What is it now?" Thane snapped, fury burning behind his eyes.
James looked at Thane with some needle eyes and didn’t flinch. He simply smiled.
"What have you been working your ass off for since you got here? Isn’t it to get a chance to meet the boss and earn a bit more? If you step in now, your deal’s off. You’ll be showing us you don’t have what it takes."
Thane looked back at Riven’s battered, bleeding form, and His fists trembled.
But eventually... he just sighed.
He had warned Riven, but the boy wouldn’t listen.
This wasn’t a world for the stubborn or the brave. It was for the adaptable and the cunning. You didn’t win by being hardheaded. You won by knowing when to kneel.
James saw Thane’s clenched fist relax and smiled even wider, knowing that reason had won out over emotion in the end
Ruffling around in his pocket, James pulled out a new cigarette as he asked
"You got a light?"
Thane didn’t say anything. He simply pulled out his lighter and bent forward to carefully light James’s cigarette
Behind them, Cole’s brutal beatdown continued without pause.
"Will you give it up?" Asked Cole
"No."
Bang!
"Will you give it up?"
"No."
Bang!
The process repeated again and again. Each second, Cole’s fists rained down like hammers, causing blood to splatter all over his body.
Still, no matter how bad it got, Riven refused to concede and he held on.
Although the beatdown was starting to get repetitive, Cole never got bored. His smile only widened with each new strike.
Even as enough blood was spilt that it was enough to pool into a thick halo around Riven’s head, Cole kept going.
It was only when Riven’s body stopped twitching and responding that Cole finally stopped.
