Virtual Reality Cultivator-Chapter 44: Breaking Into the Underground City
Chapter 44 - 44: Breaking Into the Underground City
The night wind howled as Ethan and his team stood before the hidden cave entrance on the steep cliffside. This was the underground tunnel leading to Zenith's main base—the only route in without facing their full enemy forces.
Claire looked at the digital map in her hands. "According to Vincent's data, this tunnel stretches over 5 kilometers underground before reaching the underground city. We don't know what's waiting inside, so be prepared for anything."
Ethan clenched his fist, feeling the stable flow of Qi within him after his intense training with the Qi Release Technique.
"How much time do we have before they realize we're here?" Adrian asked, already checking his weapons.
Vincent spoke through the radio. "I've managed to deactivate some of the sensors around the entrance, but as we go deeper, we'll be facing their automated security systems."
Lazarus stepped forward. "Then let's move in now before they realize something's wrong."
Ethan nodded. "Let's go."
With cautious steps, they entered the darkness of the underground tunnel.

Journey to the Enemy's Heart
Inside the cave, the air felt cold and damp. Dim emergency lights illuminated the narrow path filled with rough rocks and old cables running along the walls.
They moved in a defensive formation, with Claire in the front holding a scanner, followed by Ethan and Lazarus ready for any attacks, and Adrian at the rear keeping the line secure.
BZZT!
Suddenly, Vincent spoke through the radio. "Stop! I've detected something ahead of you."
Claire paused and aimed the scanner forward.
"Damn..." she muttered.
At the end of the corridor, several security drones hovered in the air. They were round-shaped with automatic rifles and heat detection sensors.
Adrian sighed. "And we haven't even reached the underground city yet."
Vincent spoke again. "I can try to deactivate them, but it'll take time. Or you can destroy them before they have a chance to alert the others."
Ethan clenched his fist. "I'll handle it."
He took a combat stance and channeled Qi into his palms, ready to use the Qi Release Technique he had just learned.
"Qi Release: Dragon Shot!"
In an instant—a golden energy projectile shot from his hands, hitting one of the drones and exploding it in a single strike!
BOOM!
The other drones began detecting their presence and prepared to attack, but Lazarus and Adrian immediately sprang into action.
Lazarus leapt forward with immense Qi pressure, destroying two drones at once with his fists.
Adrian, with incredible speed, drew an energy knife and threw it at the last drone, piercing its core with precision.
BZZT!
The last drone fell to the ground, destroyed.
Claire looked at them and sighed in relief. "Alright, the path is clear for now. But we need to move fast."
Ethan felt the Qi still pulsing within him, but he calmed himself.
"They must know something's wrong by now. We need to reach the underground city before they send reinforcements."
Lazarus nodded. "Let's move."
The Underground City View
After more than an hour of walking through the narrow, dark tunnel, they finally saw a bright light in the distance.
As they approached, they reached the tunnel exit—and the sight before them left them speechless.
Below them sprawled a massive underground city, filled with shining modern buildings lit with neon lights, automated vehicles on the streets, and towering structures of advanced technology.
"Damn... This is bigger than I thought," Adrian murmured.
Ethan observed the city carefully. In the center, a massive dome-shaped building stood with tight security.
Claire pointed to the digital map. "That's Zenith's main center... And inside, there's something called 'Project Titan.'"
Vincent spoke through the radio. "I've been trying to access their security system, but it's more complicated than anything else. I'll need you to get deeper inside so I can deactivate more sensors."
Ethan clenched his hand. "Alright. We'll go down there, infiltrate the main center, and find out what they're hiding."
Lazarus stared at the city intently. "Be careful. This is enemy territory. If they know we're here, we won't have a way out."
Adrian smirked. "Then let's make sure we don't get caught."
Claire looked at everyone. "Alright, we'll move in small teams. No noise. Our goal is to slip in without raising any alarms."
Ethan took a deep breath.
They had reached Zenith's main lair.
And now, the biggest battle was about to begin.
